I have two questions about the rage tail shad: 1. Is it heavy enough to throw on casting gear? 2. Can you reel it as slow as most hard buzzbaits and still get the good surface action?

I don't oil or grease my reels myself, I had someone else do it at a sporting goods store. It started doing it after this only. So yep, I bet they got stuff in the clutch bearing. >

Double Uni is easy, slide them together rather than pull them. I prefer fluoro leader over mono. It's tougher and of course basically invisible. Lubricate the knot with liquid or gelled fish attractant.

Do you guys like using them on a light split shot rig or mojo type rig for shallower applications than ones you would use a C - Rig in?

Straight tail worms like the Jelly Worm catch lots of fish. I also like the 6" Creme Scoundrel as a trick worm, rigged weightless on light line in the shallows.

I love the tri wing buzz king, but no buzzbait produces better action and catches as many bass and pike as a cavitron. It isn't even close, cavitrons are the best buzzbaits made. I've even caught several rainbow and brown trout on them.

Pepper makes awesome spinnerbaits and buzzbaits too.

Nothing wrong with setting the hook when you hang up in weeds though because ripping the jig out of weeds triggers bites. Can get tiring when your doing it a lot though, but sometimes those "weeds" can be bass

I have the toughest time differentiating between a bite and clingy grass like weeds with jigs and plastics than anything else.

Are the jackalls cheaper?

Tubes outproduce jigs numbers wise usually. Jigs catch bigger bass on average and I like them better in heavier cover than a tube.

My anti reverse seems to be giving out on my Shimano Sahara spinning reel. It only slips very occasionally and it works most of the time. Can an anti reverse be fixed or is it time for a new reel? I've had this reel and it's got heavy use since 2004. My experiences with other reels is that anti reverses are hard to fix and I have gotten other reels back with the anti reverse supposedly "fixed" but it still does the same thing.

I would even try plain jigheads tipped with waxworms if you can't get them to hit anything else. I catch smallies through the ice here in Colorado by accident fishing for perch and crappie.

Do they suspend or float back up on the pause?

The BPS and Yamamoto Cut Tail worms are great shaky head worms, as are the Luck E Strike Razor Worm and the Zoom Shaky tail.

Since most of our bass waters are frozen over from mid december to early march, I usually use a tiny ice fishing jig tipped with a perch eye, such as a Custom Jigs and Spins Ratso in the smallest size. I catch a fair amount of largemouth on smallmouth but I mostly target perch and crappie on my jigging rod while I wait for a tip up to go off for pike. When I'm fishing perch and crappie I almost always get a few bass.

Bomber has another baby bass color that I really like, other than the one you shown. I do well on baby bass shad raps, baby bass rat l traps, and bass colored husky jerks.

Soft jerkbaits, soft sticks, shallow to medium cranks, and spinnerbaits.

From the ones that I have fished I would say the Spro Bronze eye in terms of fish caught and strikes triggered. The bronze eye popper walks the dog better and doesn't take on water as bad.

Most true, free flowing rivers are best run in a jet boat because of shallow shoals. The Yakima also runs less water below Prosser Dam than above due to an irrigation diversion. The Columbia is so big that's it not an issue, plus most of the Columbia is reservoir rather than river. The first few miles below the dams have massive current though. All of the Snake in Washington is pretty much reservoir so is thus fine in a bass boat.

Hmm, I might have to buy some of those for next season.

Both are good baits but the spinnerbait is more versatile.

Black or blue colors. The swim senko is best for a night bite. The regular senko can work in the shallows where bass go for shallow holding crayfish or sunfish.
