your best producing small mouth bait in deep water
Any skirted double tail grub on a jighead of at least 3/8 of an ounce. It's the ticket for smallies on deep rock reefs.

smallmouth and cranks
Smallies will hit big cranks for sure. I catch them all the time on 5" jerkbaits when pike fishing, sometimes the smallmouth being only 9" or 10". That being said, my favorite smallmouth cranks are Rebel Wee Craws, Bomber Model A's, Shad Raps, Fat Raps, and lipless cranks like Rat L Traps, Super Sports, and XPS Rattle Shads.

I wish zoom did have their own website as well.

Anyone using Gene Larew plastics?
They are good baits, no doubt.

Centipedes And French Fries
Thanks for the info guys. I was thinking of using a light sinker in the 1/8 ounce range with them.

Buzzbait Gear Ratio
Thanks Dave. Would a slower speed reel have trouble keeping the buzzer on the surface?

Centipedes And French Fries
I was wondering how you guys rig these? When it's high and bright skies here even senkos can strike out, so I'm wondering if these do nothing baits might be the trick for really sluggish bass during midday. I was thinking of fishing them on a light carolina rig. Are they better than senkos during really tough conditions with bright and hot conditions?

WHERE IS THE BASS? NEVADA
I know it's a ways away but Lake Mead and Lake Mojave are worth it!

Glass or Graphite am I understanding the diffrence?
Pretty much right on. I use glass or glass/graphite mixes for any treble hooked lure and ALSO on buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Graphite gets the call for all plastic applications, topwater frogs, jigs, and natural bait.

Senko Spinning Rod
7' Berkley Tactix Wacky Rod. It's a medium heavy spinning setup. Absolutely works great for feeling light ticks and hammering the hook home into tough ol' bass mouths. It's also a very affordable rod in the $50 - $60 range.

Buzzbait Gear Ratio
What gear ratio should I use for crawling a buzzbait as slowly across the surface as I can while still keeping it on top well? Either baitcasting or spinning reels will do. My favorite buzzbait reel is actually a big spinning reel with 12 - 14 pound test for baits up to 3/8 of an ounce and 17 pound test for 1/2 ouncers.

Mister Twister twin tail grub
Mr. Twisters are good usually, but I like Kalin's, Yamamoto, or Berkely Power grubs as the tail flutters better on the drop and at a slow speed. I also do like the Fat Alberts from Zoom and Bass Pro shops double tails.

Terminator Spinnerbait got Terminated with just 1 fish!
I have lost a blade on a terminator as well, and a hook dulled really bad on the same bait. However I haven't had any issues with any other terminator baits, both spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.

What's your best finesse tactic?
A 4" texas rigged weightless senko, or a 4" power worm or ring worm on a split shot rig.

The fish doctor and the z nail are close.

why knock Eagle Claw?
Even the lazer sharps aren't needlepoints. Their hooks just don't stand up to Gammy, Daiichi, Owner, Mustad, X - Point, or even BPS needlepoints. They aren't sharp, they bend, and they rust.

Heddon spooks or lc gunfish?
Spooks and skitter walks are great topwater baits when the bass want a somewhat more active topwater presentation. I love all topwater baits, but for me the one - two punch of a popper and a buzzbait catch 90% of my topwater bass. In low light and cloudy conditions they are almost always my go to lures.

Do You Still Throw 'Em???
In - Line spinners are one of my go to lures for river smallies. I have also caught plenty of largemouth on them as well in lakes though I seldom use them in lakes. Panther Martins in sizes 9 and 15 are my favorites. Daredevle spoons catch bass for sure, both largemouth and smallmouth. Great lures to use to give smart and pressured bass a different look. I usually use daredevles for trout and pike though.

Tear In Transducer Cord?? Interference?
I have about a 3/4" tear in the insulation of my transducer cord. I know large tears in the insulation can cause interference. The inner wire is barely exposed. Will this cause interference and do I have to buy a new ducer again?

buzz bait bite!!
Trailer hook and a softer, slower action rod. I use a fiberglass or fiberglass mix for all topwaters and cranks.

Colorado River - Yuma, AZ
In fact largely due to this diversion the Mighty Colorado River is a small stream or even dry at it's delta on the Gulf Of California. Mexico uses the rest of what California and Arizona don't. The river above the diversion can float Mississippi River sized paddlewheelers and bargers. Smaller ocean ships used to be able to ascend the Colorado to Yuma until the 1900s.

Colorado River - Yuma, AZ
Imperial Diversion Dam, north of Yuma. Flows average about 20,000 to 45,000 cfs above the diversion and about 900 - 3000 below. The All American Canal is larger than most rivers.

Dying Weeds Affect Frog Bite?
Some of our weeds around here are already starting to die for the year. Do you find that the frog bite quits or is greatly slowed once the thick weeds start to turn?

Colorado River - Yuma, AZ
The Colorado itself is SEVERELY dewatered due to massive diversions to the All American Canal. So below there it is only a midsize river with quite a few shallow sections. There are still many backwaters and small lakes around the river that hold a lot of nice bass. Above the diversion the Colorado is a very large river, about 1/4 the size of the Mississippi, probably 300 - 700 yards in width bank to bank. It's also very deep and quite swift, though numerous backwaters, side eddies, and slower sections hold a lot of largemouth, smallmouth, and stripers. The river is quite clear as well so I would stick to natural colored lures. Spinnerbaits, poppers, cranks, weedless frogs, and assorted plastics will all work well. The Reservoirs such as Imperial, Martinez, and Ferguson that form behind the All - American Canal diversion are also top notch and would probably be where I would concentrate most of your fishing.

Another Discontinued Awesome lure
I miss a lot of lures. Mepps weedmasters, rapala risto raps, rattlin' fat raps, and jointed countdowns are the ones I miss the most. :'(
