Is this trip specifically for fishing or will fishing just be one of the activities? Canandaigua is a great town and the lake is nice but there are much better / less expensive to visit lakes than canandaigua. I've had luck on the south end / west river in the spring.

Went to the newark wide waters yesterday. Only managed 3 bass all less that 2lbs. There are weekly tournaments there. I know I'm not the best angler out there but I would be interested to know what the bags were at those things. My brother had a tangle in his line so threw his ned rig as far as he could and messed with his line for a few seconds and had a fish on when he reeled in. Ended up being a catfish of some kind must have dropped his ned right in front of the things mouth.

I have gone a few times without my pass in the window and came back to a paper in my window twice saying I need a pass or I'd be towed. So I don't know. I'm guessing if you go a bunch without a pass they would do something but I'm not sure. I may have to try to get the canoe in that newark reservoir

It's called boughton park. You need a pass to be able to fish there unfortunately. Amazing fishing though. I never really did much bank fishing so I can't be much help there unfortunately I've seen the Newark Res on a map, but have never been there. I currently live in newark. Is that place worth checking out?

Went out last night for a couple hours. Threw a jig around at the local reservoir. Caught 9 bass largest was a little over 4lbs. In this reservoir there are no pike or walleye or any other toothy fish. But there are snapping turtles. I was fishing a weed line and saw some bubbles close to where I was then after a few casts had a hard hit and set the hook. There was a lot of weight on but my line broke almost instantly. I figured I hadnt checked my line and it had a problem and broke al I retied and started again. After a few more casts the same thing happened. A lot of weight of the hook set and the the line was broke. Could it have been a snapper? I had accidentally snagged one by the neck here a few years ago but I figured that was an accident.

Got out yesterday. Caught 14 LM in a few hours. Biggest was 4.6. Good to get out. I haven't been out as much as I'd like now that there is a kid at home. I'm hoping to start fishing cayuga a little more. I get overwhelmed on larger bodies of water. I'm used to smaller stuff since I've only had a boat a couple of years. Any tips would be appreciated Or maybe I'll just go bug WW2farmer on silver lake. Haven't seen him in awhile. ?

By wide waters do you mean canal? The canal gets really tough by late june because of the temps

Went out today. Had a great day. I lost count of my fish. All LM. Left the scale home on accident. I believe I had 2 over 5Lbs. I know I didnt have a scale but I've used it enough were I'm normally within a few ounces.

Haha, no drinking here. I just got a smart phone and am terrible and typing on it. That's great though! Glad you're having a good year. I wish I could get out more. Went out sunday for the first time this year. Caught 6 in about an hour and a half. Biggest was 4-6.

Went to silver from 7 till 3:30 With two largemouth which together may have cracked 2lbs. Also a sunny and a rock bass. Nothing was working for me! Fun to get out though!

How deep is deep

So if any of you had to guess how bad Saturday is gonna suck as far as fishing goes on a scale of 1-10 what would you say. Friday is gonna be 84 with 22 mph winds and thunderstorms then Saturday is gonna be 60 cloudy and 8mph winds. I'll be there Saturday either way, but let me know what you think?

I've been out a couple times recently with some success. Caught a decent amount of fish on Cayuga last Saturday. The low light of that trip was losing a giant at the boat. My PB LM is 6.2 I'm not sure it was bigger than that but it was in that range. This Saturday will probably be my last full day out fishing with hunting season coming up. I have a job out in Warsaw again so probably going to silver lake which always seems to make me look like a fool

Went to the thousand islands this weekend with my wife and her family. I went out for a few hours Saturday Sunday and Monday morning. Saturday and Sunday morning I caught around 7-10 LM each morning and a pike each of those mornings. Monday morning I couldn't catch anything and was broken off 3 times by pike!! Then when I was about to pack it in I threw a jig at an island that had a lot of rocks and a steep drop off and felt a real hard bite. I was almost certain it was another pike and I was about to lose another couple bucks, when it didn't break off I was happy but still thought it was a pike the way it was fighting. When I got it to the boat i realized it was a SM and a big one! Threw the scale on it and it was a new SM PB for me 5.1! So it ended up being a good morning. Def a beautiful area and really overwhelming how much water is up there!

Going to be camping at wellesley island labor day weekend. Going to bring the boat and take it out if its not too much of a zoo up there. Never been up to or fishing in the thousand islands before. What type of areas should I be looking to fish. Any tips in general would be helpful. Thanks!

I fished silver from 6am-5pm with an 30min lunch break. Caught 2 bass about 5 minutes apart around 8 o'clock. One three pounder and a two pounder. Then I just grinded all day. It was pretty windy which made it tough so I went to lunch thinking the wind would die down a little when I came back out. It was worse when I came back out and just kept getting windier. I was basically stuck fishing the north west end of the lake after lunch because of the wind. Only caught one bass and a rock bass after lunch. All day I had 4 bass 2 rock bass and a pike.

I'd say it's high time for you to win. Well even a noob like me may just be able to catch a few then. I'll be there saturday all day. There aren't any tournaments this Saturday out there is there?

I hope you're not losing to the same guy every time? Lol. Seems like things over your way are pretty on right now.... Or Maybe its just you knowing that lake like the back of your hand... Maybe I need to head west this weekend.

I agree with the others. Save a little more even for a used bass boat. With those boats I'm guessing you'd be limited to when you could go out. Especially With a small wind from the north or south the finger lakes would be a little scary in a small 2 man. Unless you just don't like paddling or foot pedals and just want something with a little motor for canadice and hemlock I'd go with a bass boat.

If this was directed toward me I am in a boat. If you ever make it down to canandaigua with any success I would love some tips. I launch from the south end because the north end is an absolute mad house weekends and nights when I can get out there

The canal get's really tough in the summer. I only go when I only have an hour or two because its so close. The water going through that park where the water falls are is actually mud creek which runs into the canal. Lots of pike and dink smallmouth. Both of which are fun to catch. Lots of guys catch walleye there also I believe although I never have
