I forgot about honeoye. I have been there a few times in a canoe and had good luck, but they were a little small, but that would work great for this trip. Should I be looking around docks and shallow or a little deeper?

So question for anyone who wants to give me ideas. I'm going out Saturday morning and taking a young high school kid out with me. I'm ok at junk fishing around and getting a few for myself in the boat at this point, but I'm horrible at patterning fish , and have never been very good at helping someone else catch something. Anyone know a good technique or lake which I could go to to help him catch a few bass. I'm not looking for secret spots or anything like that. Also size doesn't matter to this kid. I don't need to get 5 & 6's to keep him happy he's still a quanity over quality guy. I live in Phelps near Geneva. Thanks in advance!

Went to canandaigua tonight. Caught two which were not worthy of bringing out the scale. After years of hitting the banks and fishing out of a canoe I feel overwhelmed now that I have a boat and have so much water I can fish. Hoping that I can figure things out after awhile, but since I got my boat things have been tough going for me! Still a blast to get out there and fish though, Just hoping for better results!

Every time I think it's time to get the boat ready and get out there it snows again and the temps drop to the 20's overnight. I'm getting it ready Friday and going out Saturday no matter what.

Anyone here fish cayuga? I've been there twice with nothing but pickerel. Any advice to catch a bass would be appreciated!

Thank you! Do you know how big of a job would it be to install the new trolling motor and battery myself?

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I couldn't find the answer online. If I want to get a 24v trolling motor do i need three batteries on the boat? Or do I run it off the starting battery and the trolling motor battery? Also how much does it cost to install a trolling motor? (looking for a ball park figure obviously). Just bought a boat with an old 12v trolling motor and I think I want an upgrade at some point. Probably next spring. Thanks guys.

Went out to cayuga sunday. I've struggled there the last two weeks. I'm no good fishing in open water. Flipped some docks with little success. Caught a few small fish. Fishing there the last few times has made me realize I'm a world class pickerel angler but not so good with bass! If anyone knows cayuga I'm looking for advice.

Good to see it's been slow for other guys and it's not just me. I've caught a decent number of fish I just can't find size. Most years I'll get a bunch of 5#s and maybe a 6 or two, but this year I'm having trouble getting 4's. Hopefully I'll be getting a boat in the next month to expand where I can fish.

What happened Ww2farmer? Things still slow out there? Or did you really sell the boat and take up golfing.

Went out to the reservoir near my house for three hours today. It's a giant mud puddle currently. Threw a chatterbait around every log and lay down I could find. Caught 24 in three hours the majority were in the 3lb range with a bunch of 2 and 4lbs mixed in. one just broke 5 at 5-2.

Went out for the first time this morning for about 2 hours. Caught 6 Lm. Largest was 4.8 everything else was small. Good to get out though.

I'm thinking a swap full of largemouth is right up my alley.

This weather has got me excited. I think the cold may be behind us now!

I have a local gun shop that I have been buying my ammo and my last gun at. I have a good relationship with the owner. I'm looking to buy a gun that he has for sale about $70 more than cabelas. My question is would it be rude to ask him to lower the price a little? I'm probably going to buy the gun from him anyways, but I am young and every dollar saved helps. I just don't want to be rude. Tried to take a little walk and did some shore fishing on canandaigua lake. Caught 4 small bass. Biggest may have been two pounds.

Going to have knee surgery Tuesday which will put me out of work for two weeks, but not off the water! I wanna fish conesus. Any tips?

finally had a bit of success today. in an hour and a half i caught 6 with the biggest being 5-2. everything else was under 2. looks like this week is going to be a little warmer so i hope to start having a little more success.

Oh I'm still alive. The secret is safe with me. Things have cooled down for me. The temps need to go back up so things heat up again
