Went to canandaigua last night because it's close by. Caught a rock bass and a 2#er. Never really have any luck there so I wasn't very suprised by it. Looks like the next time I can go out will be next Saturday the wife is going to pa so I have all day to fish! Now I just need to figure out where to go.

Went to the local reservoir today because that's where I go when I need a pick me up from the grind of fishing the lakes on the boat. From 3-8 I caught too many fish to count 6 being over 5#. With many 3-4's mixed in. Best 5 were 5-14 5-7 5-5 5-4 and 5-2. It's almost cheating at this place though. I caught the 5-7 and 5-2 on consecutive casts dragging a 1/4 oz. I think I may go back Saturday to totally refuel my confidence tank before I take the boat out again and grind to find fish.

The boat is old an 86 winner. The motor is a 2006 johnson 90hp brp 2 stroke. That's all I know about the motor.

Bought my first boat last year. So I know pretty much nothing about them. The last two times I've been out its taken forever for the motor to start the first time. Once it starts it runs fine and I can start it no problem every time after that first start. Not sure what going on. I never had this trouble before and I don't think I'm doing anything differently than I have before but I don't know. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Went to the canal for a few hours this afternoon in the pouring rain. Caught 5 keeper LM and a 3.8 LM. Also caught what I think was a sheepshead. It was silver and almost looked like a carp, but was way to light to be a carp. Wasn't very big probably 12".

Went to silver today. Caught a decent bass at 7:30 then caught 137,000 rock bass and a large pike between then and around 2 when Farmer showed up. The bass knew he came onto the lake and started to bite again. Caught a 4.3 and another 2 ok LM and lost one at the boat before I left at 3.

Haha alright sounds good. Unless I absolutely suck I'll planning on being out till 2 or 3 I have to get off by 3:30 to make it to the job out there.

What the boat launch situation normally like down there in the a.m? I'm considering arriving as early as I can. Is there a time to get there by to beat traffic? Or is traffic non-existent? It took me 40 minutes to get on honeoye last Saturday so I'd like to not repeat that. I should be on the water still by then! I'm always up for a "go over there and try this".

Someday I'll get to conesus, but not tomorrow. My boss is making me go to a job we have in castile tomorrow afternoon so to be on the water as long as possible it looks like I'm gonna go to farmers back yard pond silver lake. Hopefully I can find a fish or two over there. I've never fished that lake alone I always had a pretty dang good guide in the front of the boat lol.

Went to the quick after work spot. The erie canal at the wide waters. Caught 9 LM and 6 rock bass. Largest LM was 2.14. Flipped a black and blue jig in the grass and worked the neko rig along the bank. Also had one on a frog. Hopping this Saturday to try conesus since farmer was kind enough to give me the heads up last week about upstate anglers tournament there so I stayed away from all that traffic.

I just got a boat last year and it has an old humminbird graph. It pretty much only helps me with temp and depth. I'm considering getting a side imaging helix 5 for the front of the boat. I'm just wondering how important a graph is on the finger lakes? Will spending that money actually help me find good spots to throw to?

Ok I have the o-rings for wacky rigging. Do I just need smaller ones for the neko? Because I did think of that but the ring just sat on it pretty loosely. And yeah I don't care about losing the worm but the nail sinker would be great to not loose on every fish lol.

Went to honeoye again. 6:30-9 I caught 18 bass on a wacky worm and a few on the ned rig the largest was 3.8. Then things shut off completely. I tried everything deep, shallow, docks, weeds, everything. Then I figured before I call it a day I'd try the neko rig in the weeds. From 10:30-11:30 I caught 11 more LM 2 rock bass and a pike. The largest of them being 4.3.

Tried the neko rig for the first time today. I had caught 18 fish in the morning with a ned rig and a wacky rig senko then things shut off. I had bought some neko rig stuff because I'm trying to do more finesse stuff this season. I caught 11 more fish on the neko rig when I had gone almost an hour with no bites using everything I could think of. So... I like the rig and wanna keep trying it out, but I was losing my worm and weight on every fish. How can I keep this from happening. I'm using a havoc bottom hopper and a Mustad TitanX Wacky/Neko Rig Hook 1/0. My wife will not be happy if I have to make weekly tw orders because I'm losing my worms and weights.

Also is there a boat ramp that is less crowded than another? I'm fine at backing the trailer in and everything I'm just the kind of person who hates to make other people wait so I always have a mini panick attack when a boat launch is crowded. (I know that might sound a little crazy).

I'm really leaning toward going to conesus in the morning instead of the closer honeoye. I've never been there before any tips would be appreciated.

Went out tonight for an hour. Caught 2 rock bass and 4 LM. FINALLY got the scale out for a 4#13oz LM. I'm now regretting trying out finesse stuff because now that it's working I just placed a tw order and I know it won't be the last.

I used a weighted hook 1/16th is what I have I think. I used them at honeoye and the Erie canal which are mostly smaller fish areas anyways imo. I've been in the 2-12' depth. I've been tossing it around docks and holes in the weeds. Should I be going deeper for bigger fish? I'm horrible at reading a depth finder so I don't know what to look for if I were to go deeper at say Cayuga or Canandaguia which are the close lakes to me.

I've decided to work at finesse fishing this year because I have never been good at it so yesterday afternoon I just had a wacky rig nothing else. Caught 18 bass in 2 hours. One was 3#s the rest were 1&2# fish. I know I've seen farmer catch some hogs on the wacky rig. I'm just wondering why I'm just catching smaller fish? Is it just a random weight numbers game, or is there a way to fish it to catch larger bass? I think the neko rig will be the next thing I try.

No the Erie Canal. In Newark NY

Spent a few hours on the canal in Newark after work today. Caught 23 bass in about 2.5 hours all LM. Still haven't had reason to dust off the scale this year they were all 2#ers. Had a blast the last two times out numbers wise. Hoping to add some weight to the mix soon.

Thanks J Franco for the honeoye recomendation! Between the two of us we boated around 50 bass. All basically identical 2#ers, but the kid had a blast so that was great!
