My fish of the year

Got out around 6:30 this evening. Trolling motor won't work. So I unload it and the battery at the dock and head out with the paddle .Caught a few pound size fish and made it down to the deepest hole at my end of the lake, which is ringed by eel grass . Caught a couple , and then had another fish break my line, which rarely happens to me anymore . I was a little aggravated by that, kind of grumbling to myself.

So I kept fishing the hole. Had another fish attack the 5 inch yamamoto senko, in a watermelon red type color.

When I set the hook , I knew it was a nice fish. Thinking maybe 4 pounds. It surged under the boat and I pulled it out and then she surged away from the boat and I pulled her back and was able to lip her. To my surprise, the fish was a lot bigger than I had thought.

She ended up weighing 8.1, and was 25 inch long.

I'm still hyped up after an hour and a half. Thankful ! 20180719_202723-606x808.jpg20180719_203252-966x1288.jpg20180719_203052-966x1288-483x644.jpg

I've never even seen a LM that big in person.  I have got to move south.  That's an amazing fish!  Nice work!

If you'll take 210 pounds of luggage with you, I'll volunteer to stuff myself into a suitcase. ? That is a monster fish Mike.

Great fish mike. I love fishing eel grass.

Now that's a beauty! Congrats on the hawg @N Florida Mike! What did you catch her on? ?

Thanks. I caught it on a 5 inch yam. senko, with their version of watermelon red. And it was the last one I had. It was almost torn in half from other fish.

Nice!!!

Did you submit it to the Trophy Catch program??

Some pretty nice incentives.

Sweet. She's a beauty.

Thats a hawg!!

Thanks for sharing!!

Great fish!!  Your first picture shows how much more impressive a truly big fish is when photographed next to the fisherman instead of being pushed towards the camera.  Everything is in perspective and one can appreciate how big that hawgs head really is.

Way to go!!
