  1. I moved to a place without an off-season. But, in the way-back, I used to use rubber bands -- they'd dry out if left for a couple years, but for a few months, they work fine
  2. Knowing little about pro tournaments.....just reading this thread....I think that I like the rule, and it probably should be applied at all times. While the punishment might be a bit severe, I don't think its wholly inappropriate. Is there a way to get a ruling on a questionable catch before you cull to a limit? Or if there were two boaters, can they hold more than a tourny bag awaiting a ruling...like in a separate live well?
  3. Please add some information about what kind of reel: Spinning or baitcast or spincast? What brand of reel? What model of reel? The rod is new...is the reel also new? If new, can you take it in to store you bought it, so you can show one of the store workers?
  4. bite; strike; hit; 'knocked three foot of slack'; 'slammed it'; 'hit like a truck'; nibble; 'picked it up'; 'jammed me at the boat'; 'ate it'.....
  5. Soft sided CD cases work, too!
  6. 1/16 Charlie Brewer Snagless Spider head/hook with a 4 or 5 inch finesse worm (robo, slider, etc.) 1/16 mojo weights with finesse worms, also
  7. KastKing has a very good scale with a very good grip for less than $30. From Amazon.
  8. Agreed! But it sure looks good not catching fish. Never so much as a follow or a roll on it...by anything....even while in prime snakehead bays....and they'll eat anything.
  9. Thx -- tho I'm not too color conscious -- I went with the camo dealio for the MD180 as much as for the color

  11. Try your YZH 12. I think you'll be quite pleased...assuming of course that you use KVD L&L
  12. Any light abeam or forward of your eyes is going to negatively affect your night vision. Even my FF in night mode on 'low brightness' affects my night vision. And, any light (other than something from yellow to red) is going to be a beacon for every bug on the lake. I love my visipole.
  13. Was the decision to be 'ultra-limited' production AFTER they got reaction to the first run?
  14. I thought so too...back when I equated everything LiveTarget with the baitball stuff. I've since had great luck with Smelt Jerkbait and with the big bluegill lipless traps
  15. Keep in mind that number of fish isn't the only measure of value. Do you have any other hobbies? Nearly every hobby has a parallel. Value is extremely personal...and will differ greatly from one angler to another...many factors to consider; not just number of fish
  16. Same here....my grandfather's 17.5# northern pike skin mount was one of the more fought over inheritance piecies
  17. Ray Bradbury would be so proud....or confused
  18. How's that working out for you? I use braid/leader on a number of my rods, but use braid/no leader on my chatterbait rod - little abrasion concerns, no viz concerns, etc. Try it -- I, too, think it may be too rigid...good enough for frogs and punching, though.
  19. Looks like you answered your question already. I have a jointed H2O swimbait from Academy. Never had a bite on it.
  20. Lol...I just read what I wrote. Sorry, I meant Culpepper.....never had much luck on Orange I have been 3 or 4 times, but only with kayaks....and not at all last year. But to best of my recollection, it is a surprisingly decent ramp. Not certain about turnabout or trailer parking, but I think it is fine.
  21. I also use FishStick v.2. Absolutely love it. Lasted longer than three Hawg Troughs did. Only problem was one club I fished with didn't allow it (even though they were KBF everything else) - but the TD let me borrow his HT, so I didn't whine too much.
  22. Years ago, I was watching a show or video of a pro....forget who....I want to say Denny Brauer, but could have just as easily been Bill Dance or Houston or someone else....who said something to the effect of "I WANT the bass to see my line...and follow it right down to my jig" I've fished down to 4# fluoro and you can see small fish near the surface that can obviously see the line and hang around looking at it. I just haven't seen anything to make me believe that a bass is less catchable if my jig is on braid vice fluoro. I could maybe be persuaded that really heavily pressured fish, caught multiple times might learn that visible line is a danger indicator, but I doubt it.
  23. I got no data, but I do make up statistics....and I say that I use hi viz braid because for every fish my flourescent braid scares off.....I catch three others that I wouldn't have before when I couldn't see my line move.
