I don't believe it is to manage 'twist'. Closing by hand almost always prevents the twists from looping on the spool. I don't know if its because my fingers pull the loop out first...or if my hand closes the bail faster than doing it mechanically....but I'm pretty sure it is about preventing twist-loops from magically appearing on your spool...not to prevent any additional twist

Sounds like a plan. I am scheduling the honey-dos for Saturday, since I think the weather will be better Sunday. Going to be challenging without electronics, but the long smooth, favored deep points are easy to spot... there's always a boat on them

I must be getting old....or I simply don't understand. What does the contract between said producer and Youtube specify? Is the content producer helping youtube with its overhead, server costs, coding, transmission, organization, etc? Is Youtube charging the content provider to upload videos? If it is, I wasn't aware. I guess I'm living in the past....I wouldn't mind returning to the days of producing something of value and exchanging it for like value on a more or less open market. I miss the times when people didn't expect someone else to provide a free market place, platform, advertising, searchability, etc....and then complain that they weren't compensated for .....for ....um....what? ..get off my lawn.

Interesting. Difficult for me to tell whether I'll find $10/mo worth of content worth watching. Seems a little pricey; especially if service is spotty. I'd like to think there's an opportunity out there...what with WFN disappearing from cable providers and little in the way of fishing TV shows nowadays. I know there's a lot of youtube stuff, but frankly, I find it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff....not to mention that finding and watching internet content on the big screen is usually a PITA. I'd also be interested to find out if anyone has found this to be a good service.

I use mostly PP. However, I have used (and still do use) Cabelas Rip Cord. I thought they'd discontinued it; there wasn't any online last time I shopped. But, I see they have it on sale now and might be in your price range. I've only used 40+, but it has served me well. If it compares negatively to PP, it is slightly less 'slick' and the brown and green fade a little...I haven't fished the yellow.

To me, its much more about technique than about the shape of your bait. Practice with your confidence baits and the baits you think will get bit on your water. After watching a couple/few Andy Montgomery videos and a bunch of practice, I've come a long, long ways this year. I use the same baits that I am using between the docks....usually Rage Bug, Cut R, Jig, Senko, finesse worms, etc....except that I rarely throw trebles under docks...sometimes, but there's too many rope/line hazards on most of the docks that I fish

I've found that cutting line other than braid will dull them. So, I've slightly modified the way that I use them. I use the inner half of the blades for braid and the outer half for fluoro, copoly, mono. If cutting braid, I just ensure I cut in towards the 'hinge'....if other line, I keep it close to the opening. Has worked quite well in the year plus that I've been doing it that way.

Certainly. Though, I'm sure many might tell you they aren't ideal....but, it turns out that a lot of 'less than ideal' stuff will catch fish. I like a more 'circular' hook for wacky (and DS), but those should work. OTOH, you might consider getting some Octopus, or circle, or wacky hooks and save those for texas rigging through weeds or wood.

It could....my OCD has difficulty wacky rigging assymetrical worms, unless I put a weight in one end, but sure....no reason it wouldn't work

Bubbling Shaker is supposed to be killer drop shot lure, but I don't DS much. I use it primarily on shakey head jigs. The Recon is a big, fat worm that I Texas rig. That PB worm looks to be good for any of those three presentations

I'm down to just five knots: -Palomar for braid to lure -loop knot for some surface applications -SD Jam for all other line to lure -Alberto for line to leader -Arbor for line to spool

I like it a lot. I've had to work through a couple small challenges, mostly wind-related....and I've just received some hi-vis yellow, because the olive is nearly invisible to me....but, it has been very good to/for me. I'm a fan.

Looks like a Bubbling Shaker, which I love...or the body of a SKRT Recon...also a good worm. Both, however, are a bit fragile...so hopefully, the Powerbait version will be as effective as those...and even if same fragility, the price is right

I don't fish tournaments, nor do I follow the pros. I was somewhat interested when the elites were here last year, but I wasn't on the water when they were. That said, I suppose I would be very unlikely to move from a spot that I was fishing just because a pretty boat roared up. As to my 'altering the outcome'...wow...I don't see it that way....and even if I did, I don't think I'd care...if the spot I'm fishing is the only one on the lake/river that might allow that pro to be successful today,.....well, perhaps he's in over his head. I'm also probably pretty likely to want to watch and learn from someone who appears to know what they're doing....so, I'm sure that I'd faux pas all over the place and talk to or interrupt or otherwise get in their way

I visit BR every day...don't read every single thread, but I peruse daily...and I get emails from half a dozen tackle retailers...I never heard of the thing until the other day in the hype or enduring/famous thread....But, I suppose that threads like this are self-licking ice cream cones...or self-fulfilling or something...you may have just amped up the hype machine that you're remarking about

It can be maddening. Even when the shad boil and flop, there's sometimes little you can do. It can be hit or miss. When the bass start crashing the surface, usually, you're in business. I like swim jigs - varying the retrieve depth until I get lucky. Sometimes pulling a crankbait under the boils will work, but not always. When the bass are crashing the surface shad pods, you can sometimes throw anything up into them and get a strike as soon as it hits the water...spook, popper, etc.

Been a number of years, but I was there (Navy) for a couple years without a boat. Very challenging. I had my best luck on golf course ponds and on some of the bases. Google Earth is your friend....any number of small spots (like the ones you've been working) may hold decent bass. Getting off the banks will be your best bet, of course. Until you get a yak or boat.... I think I was able to rent boats at Cohoon, as well as Newport News Rez, Lee Hall, and Waller Mills up on the peninsula.

Thanks for the update! I got my first couple deep ones finally...dragging shaky head real slow a few weeks ago. Been too busy to get out much this summer.... lot of work on the house. I have vowed to get my first deep crig hog from the rez this summer and still hope to see it happen. I have spent a little time dragging smokin rooster with that rig, but aside from one good hit, no joy....yet
