Completely agree with all the above. I bought a Tourney Trail/Pflueger spinning combo from them quite a few years ago. I've had a number or rods and reels come and go since, but they are still in regular rotation. Mine is listed as 7'MMF, but as @d-camarenasaid, it fishes heavier than that.

interesting...I have never rigged a roboworm wacky...guess if I'd have considered it, I'd have thought they might be too limp...one more added to the list of 50-plus 'new-to-me' presentations to try this spring

Best to match the hatch....you will probably need to paint the lure periodically throughout the year...mallards tend to become a duller color in late summer/early fall....may want to study your local ducks and continually repaint your lure as the season progresses

I use NOCO Genius 3500 and Interstate (size 27) batteries. I really like the NOCO, but I do wish that I'd gotten a 2-bank charger, since most days I use more than one trolling battery

I have used transom mounted MK's for past 8 years. I realize this isn't what most of you are using/looking for. However, the issues that I've encountered are related to gearing and electrical, so might apply to discussion. I have a MK 30 that was my first trolling motor. It is on its 8th year and works as good as the day I bought it. I don't baby it -- it stays in the car from March through Thanksgiving -- I use it at least 2 dozen times a year and aside from a crack on top housing and yearly cleaning under the prop, it has treated me very well. Four years ago, I added a MK 55 - also transom mount -- I run two motors for transiting when I don't have gas outboard on jon boat. The 55 was nothing but headaches. The 5 speed switch was shot after one season. I replaced it with OEM from MK that lasted one more season. I replaced that one with an aftermarket ebay special that worked fine. The gearing started to go last year -- play in the prop and prop shaft. Getting inside to work on it with anything less than a blow torch or hacksaw was impossible. In similar vein, I used MK's portable charger for 5 years with no problem, whatsoever. Replaced it with same a few years ago and have had nothing but trouble -- switching off, overheating, etc. MK warranty replaced it - twice...each was worse than than previous. Their customer service has been great -- however, my (very limited) experiences have indicated that materials or workmanship may have declined in recent years. I'm going to replace the 55 with an MG in coming weeks.

Generally, 30# braid. Felt like I missed too many with other lines. I've found no downside and I have greater confidence in hooksets.

Why 'very salty'? Especially since salt content and sink rate seem to be more or less directly proportional...or at least related.

I do about third of a bag of Senkos in advance. I rig wacky less than half the time. 1/4" thin slices of shrink wrap. I also keep a short length of each tubing in my tackle bag to do more in the boat, if necessary.

The biggest problem with the internal BR search engine is that it doesn't do three-letter words. Like jig, or ned...or rig, etc. You're right, JJ, using google with " bassresource.com: jig " in the search box will get you better results

I use a lighter, but then again, I smoke cigars and always have a torch lighter on me....I'd argue that it is a LOT faster than using two orings....getting them on, even with a tool can be a bit of a challenge....getting a hook in while keeping them crossed can be a lot harder than it sounds...at least while in a kayak with my old fumble-fingers....a short slice of heat shrink slid on and toasted for about 3 seconds isn't much work at all

Shrink tubing works, also. 3/8" for Senkos and 1/4" for trick worms. I got mine online, but I believe you can get it at the hardware store.

Got out for first time this past weekend. ....first four times, actually, all from kayak Fri - paddled down from Bull Run Marina -- a few dinks and a perch Sat - spent day on Occoquan between ORP and 95 bridge -- one big crappie and 4 or 5 short bass Sun - put in at Pohick park - went up the creek and found lots of dinks...nothing of any size moved up...didn't catch anything back out in open water, either, however Mon - wife and I both skunked on Burke...I keep hearing there's fish in there, but I've yet to see much evidence of that. I will say that it was a fairly windy weekend and that added to the challenge of yak fishing. I was marking a lot of schooled up fish on Occoquan (river and rez) and Burke over drops between 11-16 feet. All were suspended, however and not taking what I was offering. I'm looking forward to better fish in coming weekends!

I'm with you Angry J. However, the guy who resurrected this asked a specific question to an earlier poster, and likelihood of an answer is diminished somewhat on older threads...however, in this case @primetime is still around often and will probably reply. I do like bringing up older threads when the conversation is CLEARLY relevant and consistent. Why have 17 different threads about recommended rods for medium diving crankbaits, when a consolidated discussion in one or two might serve as better source of info? But, it is as it is and will always be on public forums....guys will get disapproving replies when resurrecting old threads.....and the next guy will get disparaging remarks about starting new thread about something discussed in last couple months...or years...I'm pretty impressed with the levelheadedness of most of the mods and old-timers here on BR....they treat most posts as if they bring valued questions...whether necro....or repetitive....(excepting those desert island "only two lures" silly ones, of course)

I've tried a few different types. For me, the easy answer is Gene Larew Biffle Hardhead. I don't know that I understand how the subtle differences in line tie locations affect things while working it...however, I do know that these come through anything, even the nastiest laydowns, much better than any other. They cost a little more than many others....however, I lose far fewer of them...so cost is actually less. Action of the plastic is awesome -- I use them most often with SK RT Structure Bug, but they work well with a variety of plastics.

Take a quick look at Diablos, also. I can't deal with the weight/limited portability, but if width, stability, etc are primary concerns, they are bit of a unique, and pretty cool option.

Why color line at all? I see small bass come to check out my line all the time... Doesn't seem to matter if it's brown, green, yellow, clear, etc. Has bass' pea brain actually determined that it is best NOT to eat something with line nearby? Maybe...Just maybe your line might actually lead a fish to your lure? I have no clue, but I'm not at all convinced that I do worse with yellow braid than with camo or brow or green. The greatest consideration for me is whether or not I can see the line

I yo-yo it 'open' water or through laydowns, but ^ is where it really shines for me. When there's thick weeds that come up to 12-24" from the surface - the kind of grass that's difficult to work horizontally .....bladed jigs across the top of the grass will bring them up.

The guy that runs the concession at Orange and rents boats is a pretty good guy (Darren, maybe?) His Orange fishing reports to dgif were what got me interested in the lake. I've fished it a half dozen times with little success. I caught some small ones each time, and lost a decent one once. But never boated anything larger than 2#. Not to say that they aren't in there....just none for me. The reports of walleyes in there might have been what kept my interest and kept me going back, but never caught one. I much prefer Hunting Run, but the fact that it's half hour closer to me might be part of that.

You called? Call me lazy. Or simple. Or cheap...whatever...I use YZ Hybrid or braid on every reel. As @Turkey sandwich mentioned, conditioner is YZ's best friend. I use KVD L&L. Could not be happier with the results.

Yep. Go to a store that carries them....put a reel on each and buy the one you like.
