Who makes the best line cutter?
I love my Boomerangs. Question, though. Some time back, someone here on BR suggested NOT using them for fluoro/mono/hybrid, etc. Just use them on braid, because other lines will dull them....or something to that effect..... Any (other?) thoughts on this? The Boomerang site suggests all lines...I've been keeping nippers on hot standby for other lines (to preserve the edge on my Boomerangs), but it sure would be nice to just use the single tool.

Fisherman from VA!
I put my rookie bass fishing time on Waller Mill, which isn't too far, either. Good water and the park used to run a pretty good boat rental outfit.

Kayak essentials
My portable urinal is empty coffee cup or water/gatorade bottle. I will say that 'the call' is often a reminder to get out and stand once in a while, also. I've gone five hours at a stretch without standing, but I always regret it.

Lead Banned by 2022
Playing the odds that any future bans will be on 'sale' of lead fishing weights; vice 'use' of lead fishing weights?

Lead Banned by 2022
I do a lot of fishing on/from federal waters/lands. It will be interesting to see how this is implemented. I assume it will apply to National Parks and Forests, as well as military bases. I found it interesting to see how much of federal land there actually is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_lands

Anyone been doing any good in VA?
I haven't been out, either. The weekends have mostly been sucky weather, and any decent weather days just haven't lined up very well with my schedule. I admit that I AM considering being sick tomorrow, though.

Almost lost a thumb fishing ...
- Almost lost a thumb fishing ...
There's better instructions out there, but this gives you the gist...I can tell you from experience that this works. Everyone should be acquainted with this procedure....if you fish enough (with barbed hooks), it isn't a question of 'if'- RattleTrap
Lipless cranks are one bait that I pay little attention to water temps. At least as to when to use them. They are so versatile and cover water so well, that there's never a good time NOT to try them. Ripping them off grass and yo-yo-ing at or near the bottom are my two favored ways, but I've also learned to work them around docks and even through tips of brush sometimes.- New Rod Buyer's Remorse, help!
That will be a great rod for fishing from a kayak. You will eventually (probably soon?) also want an MHF, but when in a kayak, I use MF nearly as much or more than MHF.- Air travel - 2 piece rod ?
I had a good experience mailing two piece rods out and back; fairly easy and cheap. I think I got 4" tube at Staples for about two bucks. Postage was less than $6 each way.- Looking for someone to fish with in Northern VA!
Welcome, William. I kayak also. Lots of my fishing trips are with Heroes on the Water. Check us out on FB (GW Chapter) Another good resource for meeting up is FB Virginia Kayak Anglers. And keep an ear here on BR. Lots of neighbors on here. Dave- WalMart $1 Spinnerbaits - Anybody Use 'Em?
I love the necro-posts...as long as new posts are relevant to OP....I still use WM spinnerbaits, but I do so a lot less than I did a few years ago. I've gotten more demanding and the Monkey has done a good job of convincing me that I need more and better fishing stuff. The skirts don't last for two reasons: the collars are junk and the 'collar-stay lip' is too small/shallow/subtle; and the hook points aren't all that great....not difficult to sharpen, but more 'work' than the more expensive kinds. Besides, I've decided I like the strike-back innovation of MegaStrike -- whether it makes a 'real' difference in buttoning, I don't know...but I seem to think it does- Is it just me or...
I must be old....I didn't even know Kid Rock had a Born Free song....I thought of this when I read above:- Is it just me or...
While watching Roland Martin with John Crews this weekend, I kept yelling at the TV...."Put the fish back in the water, already!"- Drop-shoting Shad
Drop shotting dead shad? Much has been written about how bass will avoid dead fish.... maybe catch some live ones, and let them swim under a float- The Adventures of Catt & Pat!
Sounds like the voice of experience talkin- One Bait stranded on a lake/ winter time 50 degree days and 35 degree nights water temp in mid 40's if you only had one lure choice
Title says bait...post says lure...I don't want/need a lure. Size 4 circle hook and some line/string....nightcrawlers will get you all the fish you need to survive....from just about ANY lake- Worst bass miss
I know exactly where my Moby Dick sits. Broke off twice in six months....on the same stump....I'm going to get him this year- Gone but not forgotten............
hula grubs...not sure why....for no good reason, they've slipped from my consciousness last couple years- Coffee addict-any ideas for brewing on the water
Hi. I'm Dave and I'm a coffee 'abuser'. Wow, Y...thanks for the PSA. I manage with a pot before I leave the house and a 10 cup thermos....but if kayaking, I try to fill it only halfway- The Ned Rig Resource
With no lesser authority than Ned, himself. Neko article, too...cat's out- Lost integrity? Or just misplaced?
Agreed. Now, get off of my lawn.....sorry..couldn't resist.....but I do think that with just a few small tweaks, the letter could be written by a 'seasoned' person about nearly any sport or activity enjoyed by younger generations...in any era. Not to say the concerns aren't valid...or that I disagree...just that kids these days just don't get it - Almost lost a thumb fishing ...
