I primarily use it on weighted 4/0 EWG. But last few weeks of the season, I put it on a Biffle Hardhead swinging jig with fantastic results.

I'm close to converting to Yo-Zuri 8-20 for just about everything but frogs in the pads.

No oil for mine....I was fortunate enough to have my Avocet break before I ever needed to oil it

I always carry some. Most often, I use them to recycle plastics that are too worn to stay on a worm hook bend. I'll cut off the top 3/4 inch of a senko or Cut-R or Roboworm or fluke and put it on a scrounger head. I haven't worked them enough to define presentations or patterns, but they certainly do catch fish. I work them like a swim jig, popping them up and down subtly through the water column as I work them back to the boat. Unlike most jigheaded rigs, they elicit hits while coming up or swimming horizontally as much as on the drop.

Thanks. You (and RL) are right. I still carry some Zoom stuff; lizards, super flukes and trick worms, mostly. But, their usage rates are getting pushed down this year by sexier stuff.

That's a relief. I had a cart full of stuff I don't need.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I don't interpret this as being the same thing as the original post...AT ALL. How did you manage to officially claim your 'spot' for eternity? I am having difficulty figuring out what the other guys did wrong.

I've slowly come around to spending more on line, hooks and plastics. Line was easier transition -- break offs and slinkies can be tolerated only so long. Hooks were harder for me...and maybe its more psychological, but I'm thinking better hooks really is making a difference. As to plastics, again, maybe psychological, but I have so much more confidence with a Rage or Keitech or Senko than with any BPS, Yum, Zoom, etc. I'm particularly cheap, so I've followed pretty much the same curve with every hobby I've had....start out with 'cheap is more than good enough for me'....and eventually get to 'only the best is really good enough for me'....lol

I have same problem with P-lines - CX and CXX. I never have that problem with any Yo-Zuri. This winter I'm transitioning to all Yo-Zuri (and a couple with braid.)

I got one from TW in the spring. I still haven't figured out what it is good for. Too long and too stiff for my normal spinning uses -- skipping and finesse flipping plastics; drop shots, etc. It feels good in my hands, but it handles like an old Ugly Stick.

Difficult to compare them across years. I still have a 50 year old Mitchell 300 that works fine. I bought a 300 combo in 2006 that was my primary outfit for about 6 years until it crapped out. I was on a business trip this spring without my gear and bought an Avocet combo at Walmart. It fished well for about six months before it started grinding, bail stopped filpping automatically and the bail wire fell out. I have, however, admired the 300 Pro and considered them seriously....but haven't bought one.

I was appalled for a couple years at first....then amused for a couple years....recent years, just apathetic....maybe I'm moving towards 'accepting' since I dropped my wife at the mall Thanksgiving night; I went and parked a half mile away and smoked a good cigar, so I still feel like my hands are clean Hmmm....didn't realize there are five 'A' stages of Outrage: Appalled Amused Apathetic Accepting and...?? Approval? I guess that's next

Add me to the buzz baits list. Everytime I read a thread on here about how awesome the buzz bait bite has been, I break them out. Cool noise and ripples, but never had a strike.

Mike, If you were limited to selling just 3 different skirt colors, what would you offer? Based on sales? Based on your experience? I admit that I tend to get overwhelmed with all the variables - I'd guess that you offer probably a million or more possible lure/color combinations. Dave

I'm thankful that those aren't the only options. My 'local' options are very limited, so I'm pretty happy to patronize 'others' like Siebert, MegaStrike and Northstar. Not because they're sponsors -- that doesn't sway me too much other than the fact that I'm more exposed to them. I just like their passion and their participation here.

Would you all throw an A-rig on that same set-up?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. When I spend a day deep cranking, my hand and wrist that holds the rod is far worse than my cranking hand.

I don't know ANYTHING about those. But...take a look at Strike Kings on Amazon. Nearly as cheap and LOTS of folks that will recommend them.

Depending on your lake, I'd consider a cheap depthfinder, at least. If you don't know the depths extremely well and the lake has any size to it, you'll spend years finding drop offs, ledges, channels, etc if you can't see the bottom. A sub-$100 fish finder may not do a great job of finding fish, but it will accurately tell you the depths...and you'll be a LOT less blind.
