Original Shammi Line Through....(didn't know I couldn't post TW link) -- five and seven inch line through paddle tail....on sale for $3.88 (from $17) Any experience at all with this one? I grabbed the 5" one from TW simply because of the price, but I haven't had it out yet and don't think it'll get a fair shake before spring. Just wondering if I should pick up a few more before they're gone. Looks good dry....hopefully I'll be able to put it to a test this weekend. Note - if you're thinking about grabbing one, they don't come with the treble (like the Optimum BLT's I've bought before.) I need to stop and pick some larger hooks.....never a good thing....stopping at tackle shop or sporting goods store needing just $1 worth of stuff...

Different waters ..... different fishing, absolutely....but, the three lures you listed would have been low on the list of what I'm going to be throwing between now and 50 degree surface temps.....I expect that this weekend, I'm starting out with med and deep cranks, squarebills, jigs, blades and swim baits.....and then, if slow, I'll probably breakout flukes and the rest.... lol

fb6, I had that same conversation with myself last night. It reminded me of a lure I'd expect in the dollar bin at Wally World. I just hope it has some action if I'm going to the trouble of putting good hooks on it.

This month's Bassmaster 'Day on the Lake' was entertaining as ever. David Walker was soooo embarrassed to be throwing the A-rig...yet he kept doing it. lol

Birthday or not, the boss taking the time to write a hand-written note, even if barely legible, is much more telling to your value than the $50.

What's everybody's favorite winter socks for fishing? I've always gone the ULTRA-cheap route that mom used when I was in kindergarten in the '60's -- wool socks with bread bags over them; warm AND dry. But I've been looking into getting better socks and the interwebs have done little other than confuse me......I'm still cheap, however and that may be part of my 'problem' with this search...

I'm certain this isn't your problem, but I mention it just because I like to laugh at myself sometimes..... On more than one occasion, I've thrown a new buzz bait (and spinnerbait) with the plastic 'hook guard' still in place. Very hard to get a good hookset that way.

Lure site like that is going to put a hurting on the monkey. He's sitting on his thumbs right now.

This is informative and a little mind-blowing. Admittedly I know little (nothing) about college fishing, nor even about tournament fishing. But, I am rather surprised that you must have a 'good'? boat in order to compete at collegiate level. I can't think of any other sport with such a tremendously expensive barrier to entry --- is there college-level competitive yacht racing? Do football players buy their pads and helmets and rent stadium time? Do rowing team members buy their sculls?...IDK...maybe they do. If the schools and/or sponsors aren't footing most (all?) the bill for the boats (and gear?), then I don't think it should be an NCAA 'event'. The level of expected expense just seems rather extreme to me.

I've dedicated a lot of time on the water this year to improving my jig fishing. However, much of my fishing has been on bigger, deeper water (than other waters I fish...lol). Is it possible to successfully fish a jig in deep, windy conditions? I'm not getting it done very well. Moderate success with a swim jig, but I'm really struggling on the bottom.

Hook in the keeper and then I just wrap/spin the weight around rod/line and put a sock on it. Haven't had any problems.

They do look good. And at a buck per with free shipping, they sound like a deal. However, my first hesitation would be to question the hooks quality...and if they're suspect, then changing them out would defeat the feathers aspect. How about those Kastmaster-like spoons with the LED lights....lol....but then again...maybe?......

I'm a fan. DD22's..... are reasonably priced cast a mile run true no matter how much you abuse them go as deep as just about any crank have good action have loud rattles catch bass

Good luck with those knees!! I still like Zoom lizards in the spring, but never really think to pull them out the rest of the year. I guess, to me, they seem to be a numbers bait, but not many big ones.

I got one last winter along with a Lews SS at same time - same price. The SX is smoother and easier to dial in correctly. I'm happy with both, but if I had to do it again, I'd get two SX's

That customer service number JF posted works. Got a real person to answer when I moved. Never missed an issue. I just renewed last month and got the goodie pack. No blue bag...BUT....I got an Xcalibur square bill that was THE crank of the day last Saturday. Crushed them all day. I did break off one hook point in a snag, but it didn't slow it down. I figure that alone was worth the price of admission for another year.

I tried a few different P-lines this year (but not Prime.) I am going back to Yo-Zuri next year. I'm tired of two aspects of the P-line: the memory and the propensity to crease and break -- usually on the spool. I've had way too many breaks on the reel this year - generally as a result of a backlash with a fold/crease in the line. I did use KVD line conditioner on the P-lines...a lot. And it does help, but six or eight weeks on the spool and I start noticing the slinkys even with KVD.
