  1. Don't care about tournaments so, Mike Long
  2. Both of those were taken this summer and the 11-8 was part of our 47lb-10.5oz limit. Chatterbaits are sweet.
  3. They work excellent. They have kicked out some big fish around here this year.
  4. LBH, if we set up that club, it will have to be one of those clubs where the last letter of the acronym is A. I don't think I am exactly a "proud" memory LOL. I thought about going in after it for a second, but I would have had to jump right away. I hesitated until it was out of sight then i knew i was SOL. The most aggravating part is one of my buddies has the EXACT same rod, he dropped his about 6 months ago and it floated. Guess quantums don't weigh as much as a shimano >. I went back to that lake today with a different graph and water temp was 45! My crappy graph doesn't have a temp. I really would have been in trouble at those temps! I guess I would rather dump a rod than a good fish, so its all good...as long as I land my next double d!
  5. Actually, I had one of the 4"ers. I had 1 day that got me bites on it. I stroked about 25 pond fish in real dirty water during pre spawn. Nothin over 2.5, but I think it was just like a big crankbait. It worked that day, but hasn't since.
  6. The big hammer is certainly a fish catching machine, so are fish traps. http://www.saltwatertackle.com/xcart/home.php?cat=476 I'd go for the 5" trap or 6" big hammer. They get whacked, but lack realism, which is important, at least for me, in my ultra clear waters. If for no other reason than confidence, I throw painted baits. JMHO FB
  7. Personally, I would rather someone blow by me at WOT then go by at any other speed excepting an idle. Honestly though, out here our lakes are PACKED. For the most part I haven't had problems with other bass fisherman. Sure I get cut off, but if there isn't someone sitting on my point, I'll cut them off if they are more than 100yards away to fish it. The problems I encounter most are from trout fisherman. Many of the lakes I fish are very popular trout spots ( thats why I fish them ). On any given Saturday in the winter and spring, one lake in particular will have about 75 trout boats, 100 bank fisherman, and 1 bass(ish) boat (thats me ). This is a 300 acre lake. These guys will drive IN BETWEEN you and your point and bank and drag 300ft of line behind them > > >. I have been known to throw swimbaits at boats, and I often snag their lines and break them off. 4lb test is no match for 25lb P-line. They are just oblivious to what is going on. Obviously the way I handle it probably isn't the best, but you CANNOT imagine how aggravating it gets.
  8. I am COMPLETELY sold on P-Line. As much as I would like to not be a total fan boy for a company, they have a line for everything I do, and I haven't been able to find better performance. CXX- Their extra strong. Great abrasion resistance. My swimbait line. CX Premium- Flouro coated coplolymer. Very very small diameter line. handles well. I just started using their evolution line and I am liking it alot. I am using it in 8lb for my finesse situations and I don't have a single complaint yet. The only line of theirs I do not care for is the Floroclear. Its abrasion resistance is similar to whipped cream.

You can just use the throttle to turn! Thats how I made it to school in the winter in Wyoming "steering" with the rear wheels!
  10. Try contacting earthworm77, he is a bait maker and he might be able to make custom colors.
  11. At 1.3 ozs, the Matt lures Baby Bass Series seems like THE option for you. Frankly the storms are good numbers baits in the smaller sizes but I think they lack ability in the big fish department. I have thrown the 6" Trout, the Baby Bass, and the Bluegill series on a 7' MH rod. Run them on 15- 20 lb test and you should be fine. You will obviously want to go with the pattern that best replicates the forage in your area. I have caught a ton of fish on the largemouth patterns, and the 6" hitch and coho patterns are awesome patterns for general baitfish ( shiner, shad, herring). His baby bass are around 10 bucksand the 6" series, although slightly heavier, is still doable and only about 13 bucks. My first swimbait fish of 6 pounds came off of his baits and many more have been caught since on them. You can't go wrong with one of those baits IMO. Lightninrod's PB came off the Baby Bass if I remember correctly, pick one (or more ) up and I don't think that you will regret it. FB
  12. Personally I would use the 7:1 on the heavy rod ONLY because I need a 100 for a finesse rod.
  13. I did try for about 20 minutes, it was in about 60 feet of water and it was very very rocky. No luck. Ah Well
  14. I second the riffage comment. Check out track 10 on CFH my all time favorite work from his, starts at around 3:50 on that track.

Avid, perhaps his guide is familiar with backlighting... jk I think its the big peacock, that fish might make even you look like a movie star!
  16. Nice dude! Some of my favorites are on your list too.
  17. I'm there!
  18. But mostly bitter... I was planning on swimbaiting on saturday because we had an awesome storm rolling in. I had a ruthless week at work and spent the whole week walking plate. If you are in construction, you know how much this sucks. If you aren't then trust me. By Friday evening I was totally wiped out and didn't feel up for the 4 hour round trip to the lake that I was planning on going to. Called my buddies and we arranged to hit the lake close to my house. NOT a big fish lake. Hit the water late at 8. By noon I had scraped up a few 2 pounders on the jig, all largemouth. The smallies were nowhere to be found, but I think they must be in real deep water, possibly suspending. Didn't pursue anything deeper than about 40 feet. It ended up getting real nasty, so I thought I would give a swimbait a try. I set my jig rod ( Lamiglas/Shimano) down behind me on my right side, with the rod tip pointed out beyond the side of the boat. I made about 30 casts with the swimbait. I swung my rod tip back to my side looking for a real bomber cast. My 8" baits trebles caught my jig on the backswing and I chucked with all my might. Ripped my jig rod out of the boat, breaking the jig and possibly the rod tip off. It landed about ten feet in front of me and I watched it plummet out of sight in a matter of seconds. >. I entertained the thought of jumping in, but with water in the low 50's and air temps about the same, I decided that with all of the clothing I had on, it was a bad idea. So I'm out a rod and reel combo. I won't be able to replace it for awhile cause I got Christmas to take care of >. I didn't let it ruin the trip though and ended up sticking about a dozen cookie cutter largemouth from 1-2 pounds. My 2 buddies got 4 between the two of them. The jig continues to amaze, I couldn't BUY a fish on the dropshot, which is my standard tough bite rig. Had a double at one point during the day and got a picture, but I am having some camera connectivity issues right now. Guess I should have gone swimbaiting instead!
  19. I was driving to work listening to Sirius when I heard that Dime had been shot. It honestly ruined my whole day. His music was/is an important part of my life. Great guitarist. What other bands do you listen to rulz?

LOL! Glad to see the gimpy wing isn't really holding you back Avid! Might even help your "photography" a little bit!
  21. I use Aristocrat 2 part epoxy on my hard swimbaits. I don't know how it might affect the action of LC's.
  22. I've looked at them but never bought one. Too small.
  23. Used to be the dropshot, but the swimbait and jig are fast taking over.
  24. You'll like it, they are pretty sweet rods!
