  1. You know there are about a hundred things in this thread that make me crazy, but there is no point in addressing most of them. Unless my "stringer" is over 25lbs, I couldn't care less. Little fish are fun, but they don't "do it" for me. I haven't caught very many big ones (especially by California standards) but size is what I am after. I don't plan out a trip hoping to catch 5 13inch fish. But the most important thing is what the fish means to an angler. When my best friend of ten years caught his new PB at under 5lbs, I was just as stoked as I would have been had I caught a double digit. I've also watched Supermat, get completely giddy over sticking 25 dinks in one of my ponds on a frog. There are some pretty ignorant views of successful trophy hunters (which I DO NOT consider myself) and this thread proves that wonderfully. Oh ya " Just my opinion" :
  2. Man Catt, you got the monkey whipped, but yer maths a hurtin'. How could you save 125 on the reel and have a $250 dollar overall savings...
  3. ALL of those files will work. Using Itunes will convert them all to AAC format and you will be good to go.
  4. Think bluegill. Bass hate those egg stealing buggers, especially the big females.
  5. I think he means he already has the reel. Is that right?
  6. My only advice would be to bring alot of extra terminal tackle. Fishing dropshots uphill in rocks (smallie country) is pretty snaggy business.
  7. I've seen those boxes at a couple shops. They are alright, but for me, there is no need. I have a "bait closet" and have all my swimbaits hanging in there. I pick out what I want for each trip and throw them in a couple Plano 3700's.
  8. I've caught a few 5+ fish out of very small (<3 acre) ponds on Matt's baits. They just plain rock!
  9. Size 1 Owner Mosquito Hook 90% of the time. Hookset-REEL,REEL,REEL,REEL,REEL,REEL,REEL,LIFT.
  10. I think that jomatty's "anchor" analogy is a great one. I shake the crap outta my drop shot rig, until the bite proves to be extremely tough, then I employ more of a anchored-suspended-deadstick-slack maneuver....wheewwwweeee thats alot of hyphens.
  11. Awesome display of your complete lack of tact! Way to go LBH, I've received about 40 packages the last month or so, and UPS is the only one that is always on time and reliable.
  12. Of course he does. How would you feel if you thought you were young and bad, and share you're rookie year with King James. HE is an athlete. Can't stand car-melo-dramatic, but Iverson is BAD!

a A1 Springlfield with some mods. It is one of my favorite pieces. Not a negative thing to say about it.
  14. Not needed IMO. It will also tear up the bait faster. If you just use the jig hook, you will hook most of the big fish, not as many little fish, and the bait will last alot longer.
  15. I would rather have a tick, I don't have anywhere to store a whale. LOL
  16. I'll triplicate the no treble statement.
  17. Sam, the Scorpion is a japan model. that is why you don't see them in the catalog. they are comparable to the chronarch
  18. For swimbaits that light, just use your worm and jig rod.
  19. Maybe I should have said, for the utter and overwhelming majority of the time, lead is only harmful when injested... Absorption Lead poisoning occurs as a result of ingestion or inhalation of inorganic lead particles or through transdermal absorption of organic alkyl lead. The respiratory tract provides the most effective route of absorption because it only depends on the size of lead particles and the metabolic activity of the body. Airborne lead particles that are less than 0.5-1 microns in diameter are generally completely absorbed by the alveoli. Gastrointestinal absorption of lead is less effective and depends on a number of factors, eg, the presence of food in the stomach, the concentration of lead ingested, the nutritional status of the patient, and the age of the patient. Lead absorption rates may increase with iron, zinc, and calcium deficiencies. from http://www.emedicine.com/MED/topic1269.htm
  20. I just received another 5 baits of his including the ultimate. Best 22 bucks I've EVER spent on a bait, hands down. Those things will DIE here real soon! His baits keep getting better and better, I thought the original was pretty tough to beat, but he has built a monster! Thanks Matt, those other baits look AWESOME!
  21. Lead is only harmful if ingested. If its stuck in a rock, fish probably can't/won't eat it. Tungsten is so popular because it is so dense. That lends to small size to weight ratios and increased sensitivity. The drop shot system I have settled on is using 1/8-1/4 oz "Bullshot" I crimp it on lightly and when it hangs, the line just pulls through.
  22. I am not for hunting whales and this is a purely objective question, but why are whales held in such high esteem? Clearly they should not harvest the endangered fin whale, but what about the menke that is apparently thriving in their area? According to THEIR numbers, which may obviously be skewed, 33 menke whales represent about .75% ( i think) of the total population. Why does everyone always tense up at the mention of harvesting whales? Just curious.
  23. Try using those sinkers and just tie a light duty snap swivel to the end of your tag. slide the collar on the snap up, so that it just barely closes. when you snag up, pull and the snap will open and pull straight. haven't tried it, but it should work as long as you are using a quality line in like 8lb test.
  24. I haven't used the SR series, but I love Lamiglas. I don't think they get the recognition that they deserve.
  25. I've been experiementing with the "Bubba Drop Shot" (jig for a weight) for the last couple months. I like it so far.
