  1. Out of all 3 fish, that 24, in my mind is the record. Doesn't hurt that she was a norcal fish either
  2. The most common answer will probably be a 6'6"-7' MH Fast. The 7' gets my vote! 8-)
  3. Roboworms, Keeper Worms, Pro Worms. I like Aaron's Magic, Oxblood Lite, Green Weanie, and Margarita Mutilator in the Robo's.
  4. Way to go Avid! Glad to hear that you are back out there! I'm launching tomorrow and it will be 26 degrees! I thought CA was warm?!?!?!?! Guess I won't be gettin topwater fish either!

so where's it gonna be then, birthday boy?
  7. I listen to my ipod with one headphone in on a low volume setting. I had a five completely blow up on a topwater swimbait in the dark, and i was listening to one of my favorite metal songs, 'twas a beautiful experience!
  8. I have never had that problem with any frog, let alone a bronzeye. What rod are you using and how "tight" is your reel set?
  9. We're all certain that we know what a primary point is right? A primary point being typically located on the main lake body and being characterized by a strip of less deep water surrounded by deeper water on three sides { a "peninsula" if you will). A secodary point is the same type of underwater peninsula that instead of protuding out of the general "main lake" shoreline, actually comes off the side of another point ( a "primary" point at that). Very common in "finger lakes" Thats my fairly short and simplified answer, thankfully it won't cost you guys a dollar a word, cause frankly it isnt worth it
  10. ha ha. skil saws are for pansies, i go for the STIHL 8-)
  11. 8-12?!?!?! thats shallow out here! I'd say in my region, deep STARTS at about 25 feet.
  12. I had pike on my property in southern colorado. some real big ones too.
  13. Nice read RW, the primary point subject is an interesting one for me. It has not been my experience that largemouth prefer secondary points over primary ones, for me it seems to be the opposite. What are everyone else's views on this subject. I fish almost all deep, rocky , clear, man made impoundments with just a few exceptions, so structure fishing is more the rule than the exception for me. I DO NOT want to say that you are wrong, just that my experiences have not been the same. Lookin for some more input from anybody!
  14. My new Powell 704c is my first split grip/ no front grip rod, and honestly, I don't think that I will ever go back to conventional grips, with the exception of my swimbait rods. I think Powell will be my new rod of choice when possible as well, simply the best handling rod I have ever owned and at a very reasonable price for its performance. I don't think that the split handle adds that much to performance, but it sure looks cool! . The no fore grip thing, makes ALOT of difference IMO, my left index finger rides directly on the blank. Very sensitive!
  15. yep . . . Want me to prove him wrong, $850 for 800 words, $1250 for 1,200, contact my agent Craig Baugher: see also, arrogant ar·ro·gant [ érr[ch601]g[ch601]nt] adj proudly contemptuous: feeling or showing proud self-importance and contempt or disregard for others You sir are an egotistical ***, and have found 7,000 fishermen that will NOT support your $1 a word drivel. oh ya, that will be 41 dollars, please contact my Chief Financial Officer for payment details.

Unless of course, it has Glulam beams with post to beam connectors Just a little carpenter jargon for the rest of ya!
  17. Not so much a prediction as a goal: 5 over 10, another teener would be nice 8.5 lb smallie 3.5 lb crappie
  18. Perhaps an underhand (ie spinning reel) that has a perpendicular mounted spool ( like a casting reel) would eliminate line twist. There would likely have to be some serious advancements along the lines of Shimano's DC technology, since you would have no way to "thumb" the spool.
  19. I'll assume that you are referring to braided line, as I have not seen anyone mention any mondo mono. Often, braid is used in extreme "power fishing" situations. Deep in the slop, pads, or trees. It is used to muscle the fish out of super dense cover. Also due to no stretch, lower strength braid can snap on jaw jerking hooksets that are used with baits like frogs and worms in the cabbage. I've broken alot of fish off on the set with 50lb, so its only 65 for me. There are some California Delta dudes that swear by 80lb too. You can even find some 90lb stainless steel cable on some of my trap hook rigs.
  20. Bass: California-check Salmon&Salt: Alaska-check Trout: New Zealand- still waiting
  21. Avid you are the only member that consistently makes me truly "LOL". You kill me sometimes!
