the first two numbers ( in rods less than 8'4") are the rod length in inches, the last number is the rods power rating. 843 = 84 inches (7ft) 3 power

Buy a 3X 16 piece of plexi glass or polycarbonate. Drill a couple holes for carabiners, put the stickers on it,and then attach the carrabiners to the outside of your boot when you launch. That is what I did when I put a trolling motor on my kickboat.

I fish the 7" mostly. These days I am using the Gloomis SWBR 955C or the 956C. I use either a Cardiff 300 (955) or the Calcutta 400 (956). 20lb CXX on the 300, 25 on the 400. Usually I fish them midcolumn on a straight retrieve. Think spinnerbait. The rest of the time, I pitch them.

I've been throwing big baits that size for the last 5 years or so. I started with 25lb P-Line CXX, and have tried a dozen or so lines since. Every single time, I come back to the Pline.
