  1. Forget the Delta. These storms are prime reservoir conditions.
  2. It is generally assumed by Burley, Dan, Robby, Tin, and myself that any thread started by one, will be taken far off course by the rest, lol.
  3. Too late for a shmishshmortion huh?
  4. This thread title brought to you by Master Yoda.
  5. I caught my favorite fish several years ago. My best friend Adam and I were night fishing in May. It was an awesome night. Clear, warm, and calm, with a full moon. We were all alone on the lake and whacking 2-4's on very aggresively fished 3/4oz football jigs. Sometime around 11, the bite slowed some on the jigs, and I switched over to a 16" worm T-rigged on an 11/0 Owner hook. I had it rigged on my heavy worm rod with 50lb braid and the drag locked. Over the course of the next hour or so, I caught several small fish, but went through probably 10 worms @ $2 a piece because of small fish grabbing the tail . It was getting expensive and obnoxious. We were going down my favorite night fishing wall, and I got another little annoying bluegill bite. I didnt set the hook. I tried to shake it out of the little turds mouth. But it kept going peckpeck peck peckpeckpeck, so I said screw it and drilled that fish as hard as I possibly could. POW! and I am seeing stars and my eyes are watering. It took me a second to realize that I had broken my rod just in front of the reel seat, and with the subsequent release of energy, gave myself a bloody nose with my reel. Dazed, I realize that the fish is still on, so I grab to tip of the rod, get it in the boat, then start bringing the fish in hand over hand. At one point it jumped, and I barely got sight of it in the light of Adam's headlamp as he stood ready with the net. It was a good one, I was thinking around 6. I successfully lead it to the net, which Adam sets on the floor of the boat near my feet. I take a second to process what had just happened, unbind myself from a mess of braid and broken rod, and wipe a sizable amount of blood off of my face. As I stand there in a daze, Adam goes "HOLY S * * T ! ITS HUGE!". Now mind you, he had never seen a fish over 6, so I assumed that he was just overreacting because of that, the darkness, and the adrenaline brought on by that chaotic 30 seconds. So I dismissed it mentally, and after about 10 seconds finally looked down at the net. This is what was in there. 11lbs 4ozs, brought in by hand. It was very cool. And this is another memento she left for me. I have caught bigger, and I have had more exciting strikes, but overall, she was my favorite. We got out of the boat to get an accurate weight, and I just layed there on the rocks for awhile soaking in the night. It was a good one.
  6. Well that sucks. Hope all goes well dude.
  7. I didnt realize till after that post that the finale hasnt aired on Starz yet. For those of you that have Netflix, Spartacus instantly streams, the finale was uploaded at 12:00 this morning, and I watched it immediately. It was absolutely awesome. Seriously, probably the best episode of TV I have ever seen.
  8. Anybody watch? The season finale may be the best episode of television EVER!
  9. 6th prestige, somewhere around lvl 50.
  10. I like the south fork. It seems to have more big fish than the north fork. If you see a hazard bouy, fish it. Main lake points, fish it. Also look out for bottom composition transitions. There are alot of places where the shore will go from sand to chunk rock in a matter of feet. Those transitions can be great.
  11. Just realized that I didnt post the synopsis of my Friday hunt either. My buddies came up from the Bay and my best friend and I stayed up all night drinking cheap beer. I mean all night. Never went to sleep. Got to the property before six, dropped them off at a couple good locations to set up and wait for the sun. I made it to where I had called to that bird earlier in the week and set up a couple dekes. Within minutes of being there, he was gobbling from the exact tree I had hoped for him to be in. I started talking to him and he answered desperately to every single one of them. This went on for half an hour before I heard him stir and take off... then fly in the complete wrong direction > Didnt hear him make a sound after he hit the ground, and I sat there calling occasionally till 9. My buddy had a small tom/big jake come skirting around the outside of his setup about 7, and other than that, we didnt see a single bird, besides the ones in people driveways on the way home > Anybody ever seen a white turkey? There is one in one of these flocks. Not completely white, just a few brown feathers here and there. Is it a feral domestic turkey, albino, or some sort of other pigment disorder? If it is a white wild bird, she is going down this fall ;D
  12. Awesome bud! We have had a bunch of nasty weather here lately, but I did make it out for a few hours yesterday. Hunted a VERY small piece of property (~15 acres) that has had birds roosting across the road from it. Set up in complete darkness. Only put out two hens, left my jake in the bag. Made fly down noises in the graylight. Never heard a peep from a bird of any type. Sat there till 8, packed up, made it 300 yards down the road and there was a good size tom in full strut, 15ft from the road, in someones driveway, lol. That has been the story of my life this season. Ah well, they are all real henned up and since I only have access to a couple properties, I havent been able to bring them to me, hopefully when most of the hens nest up I will have a chance to call one in. This is my first season with a bow though, couldve got my 3 with a gun already, but thats ok, it will be worth it when i stick one of them ;D
  13. In my case, because a dropshot is not the best presentation for big fish. Since it is a slow, methodical technique, it is not the best for covering water, nor is it the best for catching many fish in short succession if the bite isnt wide open. Also, the dropshot really shines during mid day when the fish are deeper and less active.
  14. If his name isnt Merle, Charlie, or Johnny, I probably dont give a d**n ;D
  15. I shot one of those last memorial day. We were waiting to get into a campground and the jeep behind us offered us beer. He was a prison guard, and after we kinda got to know each other, he goes " you wanna see something awesome?" and pulls that out. It had the false suppressor on it and for about thirty seconds I had to keep from blowing one in my pants because I thought I was holding a silenced MP5, lol. I loved the giant clip that holds 10 22lr rounds, lol.
  16. Just about anything earlier than 1995 when i'm in the rare mood for country. I cant stand this bubblegum BS that is all over the radio these days.
  17. Thats exactly what it was. There were some updates it wanted installed that I didnt see. Thanks Brian! J
  18. Brian, no it is unlocked, both in the right click dropdown and the box is unchecked when going into the taskbar properties XP btw Russ, my stomach still has the acidity of mexican water from the last all night, Rogue Ale, pre-turkey hunting mission I went on. I am fueled purely by copenhagen and diet pepsi at the moment. Diet pepsi sucks, but it was either that or beer, lol.
  19. lol. no, this has been a weeklong frustration. I decided to pull an all nighter tonight so that i can go turkey hunting in the morning. I realized about 1'oclock that if i fell asleep i wouldnt be getting up in time. ;D
  20. New machine. My taskbar will not auto-hide, despite the fact that I have auto-hide selected in the taskbar properties. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
  21. No chance that when your line gets wet it swells enough to contact part of the reel frame somewhere? Reel line guide plugged/cracked?
  22. It seems to me like having fishing boats available for a fishing trip is pretty logical. This post mysteriously edited to remove the armchair quarterback comment.
