Bass Pro Shops XPS Lazer Eye The Egg
*What were your most productive seasons to use the XPS Super Shallow Crank (i.e. Post Spawn , etc.) ?

J.J.'s Magic/dye Storage
Yes - exactly !! JJ's Lid tight , stored upright inside out of the sun ... I blame the bottle / cap combo in this case as I believe the cap needs a gasket of some sort . *Even if I have to open the bottle slowly to prevent a JJ's grenade I'd rather do that than see the bottle essentially evaporate .

Closest dobyns rod to the Shimano 6'10" med action
So , you are specifically looking for a Dobyns jerk bait rod ?

J.J.'s Magic/dye Storage
I have bad luck with JJ's evaporating in the jar - even stored upright with the lid on tight ... I'm not sure what the answer is but I only buy JJ's sparingly now .

Bass Pro Shops XPS Lazer Eye The Egg
I agree the colors are not great , I'd probably start with the sexy shad color or the chartreuse / black back (depending on water color) .

T-Rig Drop Shot : Favorite Hook ?
Thanks for the replies - I mostly envision worms used on a T-Rig Drop shot ... The Roboworm , Owner Cover Shot - and the forgotten Owner #5133 Down Shot hook are the ones I will look into soon . The Gamakatsu G-Finesse Arom Martens hook in a 1/0 may be a winner as well .

T-Rig Drop Shot : Favorite Hook ?
I know hook size may differ in size (depending on the manufacturer) but it appears after reading you could probably get by with the #1 and 1/0 size T-Rig Drop Shot Hooks to handle a range of soft plastics for the drop shot ? Small 3.5" sculpin, baitfish , leach style soft plastics might work best T-Rigged for drop shot on a #1 size Roboworm Rebarb Hook . For 4" to 6" finesse worms it might be best to migrate to the next size up with the 1/0 Roboworm Rebarb hook .

T-Rig Drop Shot : Favorite Hook ?
I see a lot more hook options for T-Rig drop shot over the last couple of years (i.e. Gamakatsu G Finesse Heavy Cover , VMC EWG or Niko , Owner Cover Shot , Roboworm Rebarb , standard EWG and Wide gap worm hooks in that #2 to perhaps 2/0 size range for 3.5" to 6" range of soft plastics . *I mainly would plan to T-Rig soft plastic worms on a drop shot to begin - then expand from there with T-Rig soft plastic craws , creature baits , shads , flukes , etc. The above said = what T-Rig hook and size for drop shot do you currently favor using ?

Speed Craw on a Shaky Head
Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw in Green Pumpkin shade of your choice , 1/8th ~ 3/16th oz. shaky head of your choice that fits , FC leader (8 lb. Sunline Sniper) to braid main line (15 lb. Power Pro) ... Fish with short drags - then pop it with a couple of quick short jerks then let it settle back to the bottom and dead stick for 20 seconds before repeating the sequence . *Visualize a craw on its trek across the bottom when something startles it , the craw leaps up before it glides back to the bottom and sits in a defensive posture. A bass may hit the craw at any time in the drag , short leap . glide , dead stick process.

Best 10-12 lb line for Spinning reel primarily using 1/8-1/4 oz paddle tail & Curly tail jigs?
*Your search is over once you read what Tom suggests - you simply do NOT want to go over 0.10" diameter max line size in FC , Mono or Co-Poly lines for your typical fresh water spinning reel or else you are asking for problems !

Double Uni knot…fluoro kept breaking
Braid to FC I use the Crazy Alberto Knot

Old School Hard Jerk Bait : Smithwick Rogue Users ?
I was gifted some "old school" standard Smithwick Rogues still new in the box in a few of their regular colors - for those thaat used to fish a Rogue , what was your best producing set up as I'd like to try these jerk baits to learn on ?

Getting ready for spring!
The smaller size Rage Swimmers paddle tail swimbaits (2.75" and 3.25") in the new Lavender Shad color for early season small mouth bass .

I Have a Problem With Spinnerbaits
Sounds good ! Usually the shad color spinner baits get the most attention while the bluegill spinnerbaits with gold or colored blades get overlooked (big mistake in the summer) .
-
I Have a Problem With Spinnerbaits
I have a problem with spinnerbaits too : I use 4 primary weight sizes (1/4th oz. - 3/4th oz.) , 5 different blade combinations and 5 different colors which comes out to 12,046 combinations of spinner baits ... I'm up to what seems like 8,000 spinner baits already in my obsession to have them all - not good hence I have a "spinner bait problem" (lol !!)

Modifying Popper Lips ?
The Yellow Magic and Rico definitely come out of the package ready to fish ! A top water lure is a category I worry less about spending money on as they are a lower risk category to lose (as far as snags are concerned)

Closest dobyns rod to the Shimano 6'10" med action
That 6'10"M/F length and action is a good all-around rod - great for jerk baits , small soft plastic paddle tail swim baits , smaller top water , etc.

Favorite Drop Shot Weights ?
I fish a fair amount of rocky areas , so the tear drop or round drop shot weights are perhaps best for what I do ... If I could only use one style it would be tear drop . I forgot about the cheap WM tear drop shaped lead weights - nice way to experiment with sizes in that 1/8th to 1/2 oz. range . Lastly not for just bottom contact using a drop shot as drop swimming and strolling are other tactics using the same set up (with varied leader lengths) .

Modifying Popper Lips ?
*Interesting how the popper action changes - depending on if the line knot is at the top , middle , or bottom of the popper line tie .

Favorite Drop Shot Weights ?
Whether it be Tungsten or Lead - what are your favorite drop shot weights and why do you like them ? Drop shot weights can suffer from poor clip quality that do not spin freely or reliably resulting in adding to line twist - while others may suffer from some other quality control issues such as inconsistent weight or poor connection to rotating clips . Round shape drop shot weights for rocks , cylinder shape for grass or tear drop as the best compromise - what make and what do you like ... Lastly , is tungsten really worth the price adder for drop shot weights ? Thanks for sharing your drop shot weight thoughts and experiences .

Chatterbait Bottom
True ! Alternate using a chatterbait mini with a 3.3" paddle tail on an under spin .
