  1. I love mine, I got a 7' med with a citica 201e paired with it, my dedicated jig rod and my first casting combo. It does run more MedHvy than Med. I know several people that have the same rod and none of theirs or mine has broke.
  2. Cool, got it. Thanks again guys. Hopefully Ill have a report soon on how i make out!
  3. Awesome thanks for all the replies! Def very helpful. Ive seen a few guys post this, I see WRB suggested the snaps but only ties direct. Are there situations where one is better over the other or just a convenience thing?
  4. When using the larger swimbaits 2oz+ what is the best knot to use for mono, floro and braid? Also do you guys use snaps or swivels instead of directly tying them on? Id hate to lose a pricey bait just because of a simple error like that. I ask for all three because I haven't decided on which line Ill use yet, any input on that will be helpful to. Thanks
  5. Your probably spot on with that theory....The few ponds/lakes I fish are the only ones within an hour drive and they are heavily pressured, I havent tried a spinnerbait in the rivers yet. In light of that thinking though Ive already started gearing up for big swimbaits this spring, I have yet to see anyone chunking a 6"+ bait around and I know there are 8+ lb bass in the area just waiting for that big meal!!
  6. Lol truth be told Ive never fished DT's..... So it may be that Im missing out? As far as the ScatterRaps go I just bang them through cover and once on the other side I just pause them, they have a slow float rate so I think it helps when getting bit...
  7. Overall this has been the year of jigs for me...Im officially addicted. My best producer is the 1/4oz Mata Dredge Brush jig in Junebug/black rubber skirt with paca craw in blue sapphire. 2nd bait would be the scatter raps in baby bass and smash colors ...Ive seen many threads with dislike of this bait but it has produced extremely well for me this year.
  8. Spinnerbaits, Just cant get bit on one. Ive had 1 pickerel hit em and thats it. Now I have learned and have been successful this year with jigs and topwater frogs....One step at a time.
  9. Oh and just a FYI through all of this, if buying soles make sure felt is legal in your area. MD felt is not legal to use as a sole for boots....
  10. Oh and there is this to.... http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/05/01/2863876/floridas-clown-knifefish-eye-popping.html
  11. This is from FWC website.... Now as to what works????? Maybe best luck with live bait? Cool lookin fish tho! Clown Knifefish: Notopterus chitala Appearance: Very distinct, flat, silvery fish with long anal fin that gives the knifefish its common name; tiny dorsal fin and 5-10 black spots ringed with white distinguish it from all other fish in Florida; juveniles possess dark vertical bands instead of spots; long anal fin equally allows for forward and backward movements. Range: Currently only found in Lakes Osborne, Ida, and their associated canals in southeast Florida. Native to tropical Asia--Indochina and Thailand. Habitat: Lakes, swamps, and river backwaters; young fish occur in schools among aquatic plants and submerged roots; adults tend to be loaners commonly found near shore in areas with overhanging vegetation or docks; utilizes air to survive in warm, stagnant waters with little oxygen. Behavior: Spawning Habitats: Reportedly spawning takes place in spring when females each lay thousands of eggs on the substrate or piece of wood; male cares for the eggs by fanning them with his tail, keeping them aerated and silt-free; later male reportedly protects hatched fry. Feeding Habits: Feeds on a variety of prey including small fish, insects, and grass shrimp. Age and Growth Largest specimen documented in Florida was a 31-inch specimen weighing just under 10 pounds. Sporting Quality Limited, but its unique appearance and jumping skills make for an exciting catch. Edibility Bony, but commercially important in native range; flesh minced, made into balls, and cooked with curry. State Record: N/A Fishing Tips and Facts: Additional Information:
  12. First off like RW said.....read the pinned section at top of the tackle forum, there is a wealth of knowledge there. Second off, in my opinion those jigs are nice but not for that price tag. Contact Mike over at Siebert outdoors (click his icon on the r/h side of the page) and give him a heads up as to where you fish and he will get ya straight as to what you need(and his prices are spot on). I did this exact thing and the next time I fished with a jig(his dredge series) I boated 4 bass in no time at all.....
  13. We use em for saltwater here, light surf setups and inlet type fishing...
  14. Google these, Fuji EZ Keeper II Use em on all my inshore rod setups.... And as far as a tube goes have even rigged some up with a 3x treble with a bullet weight inside and the line going through the middle, killer action on the fall, use em alot for saltwater...
  15. Only during deer hunting season, 3 days in October, 2 weeks in December and a week in January... We are lucky enough to have the bay on one side and the ocean on the other to keep things warm enough to fish all year long.... My best fishing is actually during the winter months and I hate the heat so its a win-win....
  16. From Shimano....... Why are there more than one color of break weights for my Baitcasting VBS system? Shimano makes two different break weights; Heavy (Black, Grey, or Green in color) and Light (Red, Blue, and Clear in color). Most of the new reels are shipped with the light break weights on the reel, and the heavy break weights in packaging in the box. If the light break weights don’t provide adequate spool stopping power, change them simply by pulling them off of the spool and replace them with the heavier weights.
  17. This without a doubt, simple easy and to the point. My wife loved the fact that when we first talked I complimented her bubbly personality (cheesy I know, but it was the truth) and the fact that I didn't say anything about her appearance ( she was and is dang beautiful) but she really respected that. She is just a person, just like you, maybe even shyer (sp?) so ya gotta take the plunge... worst case scenario she says no, even then she might have single and looking friends...... Oh and get a puppy, chics love puppies....
  18. Annnnd there we go..... Thanks Raul, I get caught up in the forums and I always forget that there is a huge part of the rest of the site....
  19. After reading a few topics on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits Ive decided to try some out, picked up a cavitron buzzbait and a few booyah spinnerbaits. Ive picked up a few bass with the buzz bait (cant say I was doing much in the way of fishing it right) but nadda thing with a spinner bait.... 1. How do you guys fish these baits? 2. Colors? 3.Weight? And any other info would be appreciated... Thanks in advance, KG
  20. ^^^^^^Ill remember anything with any of those color combinations is a dead snake, unless its a garter or black racer, they pose no threat and are easily identifiable.... Then again if its in the house, its dead no matter what....
  21. Jig would prob be best in all seasons, although Ive had great luck with jerkbaits of varying sizes throughout this year...
  22. lol, it was actually an osprey egg but the same difference.... Hahaha, that was surf casting 10oz + bait and I forgot to set my brakes, as in no brake at all... took about .2 seconds to blow up and snapped 80lb shock leader in the process. Took about 2hrs of cutting to get it out.
  23. Once or twice!! Luckily Ive never backlashed as bad on my freshwater gear, had a few bad ones but none that I couldnt pick out...
  24. Snatcher T-rex MS American shad Aurora Gold Bone Pro Blue Depending on water clarity and cloud cover I use em in that order until i find the "one" for that day...
