Dobyns Savvy Or Phenix Maxim Spinning...go.
The Savvy is one of the worst lines of fishing rods ever made and I said a while back the Fury line would be below the savvy line and was blasted for it. The Savvy line SHOULD have been Dobyn's $99.00 rod line to begin with. The Fury line shouldn't have been made but in truth it wouldn't take much to be better than the Savvy line. Either buy the higher up dobyn's or buy anything else over a Savvy.

Which Of These 3 Rods....
I'm going to agree with the other and say that the Kistler will be the top rod in that area but it will not beat out that ALX by very much. You can't go wrong with what you listed but as people have already said those NFC blanks are a thing of beauty. I've owned all three of those rods and I would list them in this order. 1. Kistler Helium 3 because of the NFC blank. They are also $50 more that the ALX Zolo. 2. A VERY close second is ALX - "Deputy. This is one fine rod too. I love the ALX Zolo series. 3. *** ***. I hate rec guides but the blank is solid.

Thinking About Pullibg The Trigger On A Smoke
110% agree. I like the rod, it is nice but I regret buying the reel with a passion. I own two other Quantum reels, a Pro Tour (Blue reel) and a Energy PT-XMetal (E860PTxm) They both suffer from the same bad casting that the Smoke 150 suffers from. This leaves me to believe that the ACS 2 braking system is flawed and not worth having. I own a ton of Lew's from BB1 to Team Lews Pro, Shimnao's from citica to metanium and Daiwa's from Tatula's, SS Sv to zillion's and none of them have anything close to the casting problems that Quantum reels show.

Thinking About Pullibg The Trigger On A Smoke
I can give you the XP that I have had. I bought a 7'0 MH Quantum Smoke rod and it is very nice. It is light, sensitive and feels good while fishing, it is not tip heavy and over all I was impressed at how good it felt being a Quantum. I would recommend those to any one. Now on to the reel. I bought a Quantum Smoke 150 7.3.1 baitcaster and I 100% hate it with a passion. While the reel is fantastic on paper it just doesn't work in real life. It is light and reel's smooth but it is the worst casting reel I've ever used. The braking system is a nightmare, one cast will be perfect and then the next few cast are either choked off or they are a free spool cast with a backlash. I didn't feel like waiting for Quantum CS so I went by a repair shop and the m an said two of the bearing in the (Brand New) reel were no good. I had them replaced and the next trip the reel would throw good. A few days later on another fishing trip the reel started doing the exact same thing, one cast was good, one choked off and then backlashes. I simple think the reel is a pile of junk. I would not buy another Quantum reel for $5.00

Tatula T-Wing System : Love It Or Hate It ?
I really enjoy my Tatula-R's and I think they are fantastic reel's. I get a very smooth and quality feeling from mine. I like the SS SV more but they each have their place. I am a VERY big fan of the double D's though..............Duckett & Daiwa

Duckett Micro Magic Pro
I have a great deal of Xp with Duckett and I can say the one you want is the Heavy action for what you are looking to do. You will love it. Those are really fantastic fishing rods.

Best Baitcaster Ratio For Crankbaits
I use a 4.9:1 baitcaster for cranking and it makes a big difference, even the wobble of the bait is better.

Boats Collide On Tenkiller....no Pfds....when Will People Learn?
My uncle was shot down in the Baltic Sea and he survived with out any life vest for over a week before he was saved. It was a tough story for him to tell us. My Uncle could swim like a fish and was the best swimmer I've ever seen but even after all of that, he feel out of his boat, while trolling on high and standing up in the Blue Lake section of Toledo Bend and he Drown. Now I'm not saying a life vest would have saved him because he fell into a large moss bed but to survive a plane being shot down into the sea and then drown like that was quite....shocking. Edit.....You will never catch me out on the lake without my PFD on and I too can swim very well but it would be hard to swim if I was knocked out or hurt and I have a wife and three children to come home to and support.

I've ate dinner with the Abominable Snowman but I draw the line when he ask his cousin, Skunk Ape to join.

Boats Collide On Tenkiller....no Pfds....when Will People Learn?
I am sorry to hear that, I would love to say that wearing a PFD comes with age but that seems to be wrong. I see so many on Toledo Bend that launch and take off with no PDF and some do not even know how to run the boat lanes here. Toledo Bend is filled with stumps every where, in the last three years alone I've follow four boats back to the ramp because they had hit a stump and were taking on water, only one of those had on PDF's. See my Sig.

Duckett Vs. Abu Garcia Rod
No contest for me, I would buy the Duckett and not look back. The Ghost are really great rod's for the price.

Diawa Zillion...is It As Durable As They Come?
I agree with the above on getting the older Zillion it was a true masterpiece. the new TWS Zillions are not bad but they really are just a (small) upgraded Tatula. I also am a Daiwa fan so I would buy the Zillion over the Shimano curado I or CI4 IMO it is pretty hard to compare the older Zillion to those because it was such a fantastic reel.

Buying Power Poles This Year. What Is A Good Brand?
Thank's. That shows how much I knew about them. I didn't even realize that power pole was the name, I thought it was just what it did and their was many different companies. I did not want to sound like a tard in the boat shop but I guess I did a good job of that on the forum's

Buying Power Poles This Year. What Is A Good Brand?
I have wanted Power poles for a long time and I've decided I'm just going to go ahead and buy some (Or one). I'm sick of using my motor as a VERY shallow power pole I have no knowledge of them and wanted to ask you guys some question's. I have a 19'8" Ranger boat with a 225 motor. Will I need two or will one Power Pole be enough? What are some good brands? Anything I should stay away from? What kind of Depth can they hold a boat at? Are they really worth it and do they really hold the boat in 6' to 8' of water as said? Thank you very much for any and all help.

It is a fantastic reel, Reminds me of the older TD-Z

Well, Hang On To Your Wallets Mb Fans.....
no they are not replaced. I still own a combined total of 23 Duckett's and a lot of them go fishing everytime I go. I just decided to try another brand that is 100% better than the Powell knock off's (Dobyn's). No offense toward Powell rod's they are fantastic, it is the knock-offs I hate. (Yes, I know but as long as Duckett is a white carrot stick the DOOBYN will be knock off powell max) Because of the fan boys mostly. I buy ton's of different rod's all of the time, Megabass just happen to be the only other one's I've loved besides the Duckett White Ice.

Well, Hang On To Your Wallets Mb Fans.....
I just bought the Orochi EMTF and the Tour Versatile. I'm having a hard time trying to decide between the spinnerbait special and the flatside special as my next purchase though. Megabass is simply fantastic and I wish I would have bought some much sooner than I did.

Best Bass Rods For The Money?
You almost can't go wrong with Rod's in that price range. The only one I can think of that is a massive waste of the money is a Dobyn's Savvy but only if you're fishing soft plastic's and Jig's with it. The other have given you a lot of good choices and the Duckett White Ice line is an amazing rod for the $200.00 price range also. Very few rod's in that range have fished as good as it does.

New To Casting. Best $300 Range Set Up
I would highly recommend the Duckett Micro Magic Pro 7'3 medium heavy for the rod. It will run around $165 I like the Daiwa Tatula Type-R Baitcasters and they can be bought for around $125 That is $290 and a fantastic combo for texas rig's, soft plastic's and jig's Anything that is (Baitcasters) Daiwa, Shimano and Lew's and also above their budget reels will be great, just buy the one that feels/looks the best to you. People do not talk much about them but the Quantum Smoke Rod's are very good and can be bought cheap on certain sites right now (Last years model) Last time I checked they were selling for around $75.00 and they are very much worth that price. I do not like Quantum reels though. Rod's in the $100 to $180 price range that are really good are Powell, Phenix, Irod, Kistler, Duckett, Daiwa, Falcon, *** are all good rod's. Stay away from lower priced (Savvy) Dobyn's. They are VERY bad for plastic's/jig's. The high quality rod's are going to be Megabass, G.loomis, Kistler Z-bone.

Well, Hang On To Your Wallets Mb Fans.....
Simply a work of art but I'm just not sure I'm ready to drop $990.00 on one just yet. I mean I just started buying my Orochi xx rod's. It may take some time for me to work up to this one. Life has way to many choices in it.

How Far ...
I'm sure I could get 50+ yards out of my Tatula and 7'5 MH Megabass rod but that is the try hard and bomb it type of cast that doesn't seem to work out very well for me. My average is around 35 to 40 yards.

New Rods. Unbelievable!
Congrats! I am in no way a Dobyn's fan but I am happy you found a rod that you like and will enjoy fishing. That is what matters the most, when you are happy with your purchase. Let us know how they hold up and how well you like them in the future. I'm always interested in others opinions.
