I prefer fishing the new moon. The fish will spawn on both new and full, but skewed toward the full. Fishing is good on both, but tends to be best on the days leading up to the full moon and on the days just after the new moon. To simplify it, it seems the fishing is best when the moon is getting bigger, not smaller, with each succeeding day. Word for word from Doug Hannon.. This is a statement concerning the Bass Spawn, However I believe in it.. Based on many sources, last but not least my own experiences in the field, including whitetail, elk, turkey & fishing.. Take it for what it's worth, which is nothing, lol..

I fished the 7'4" quantum KVD spinning model in 2011.. Balance of course was poor, casting was great, feel ( perceived sensitivity ) was very good. With my son, first cast with a 3" powerbait (chigger craw) 1/8 tungsten, 3/0 Daiichi ( mid 90's era) I feel a thump, felt like a rock, where no rock was known to be , instincts took over and wham! Set the hook on a fat little 5 pound fish.. Lol my son was elated, and a little disgruntled. The old man can still put a hurting on the young gun! I think it's a fine rod... Balance was odd but it was a well built piece, for the money.

I've done well enough with the bluegill swim bait, has a boot tail and it works. The bigger crappie swim bait with a square bill is complete junk.. I would rather throw a Texas rigged Oscar Meyer wiener that that crappie junk..
