  1. What reel? Baitcast? Spinning? For Flipping and general jig/ trig work I like the speed... With bigger gear sets you don't loose power anymore. I should say mostly....
  2. Lol! Yea, it's called "The Bait Monkey".... Enjoy it, it's insatiable!
  3. Gotta love the attitude of slob slabs! I have stuck them on storm bluegill swimbaits/ large cranks.. Etc... They are really fun, hmm I need to go target them again!
  4. I agree, it's a mute point if everyone is suggesting reels outta you're current range, you will get exacting information with a price point.
  5. Not sure what exact hook you're using, not all are created equal... I believe you will, with use, get you're timed hookset. Open hooksets are a bit different than a Trig... Owner SSW 2/0 or 3/0 mosquito I want strong sharp hooks with this style of rigging, some like smaller that's fine too... Play around with hooks.. And you're timing, you will develop it.
  6. Rage Craws, Powerbait Chiggers,
  7. Take you're small driver, if you have a bench grinder and reduce the blade size by 1/2..... The bag trick is good insurance, no doubt.. Blade size 1/8 reduced by around 1/2 works well for many other things as well....
  8. Absolutely, Doug Hannon has probably caught way more Giant FLMB, than anyone ever. I still use Triplefish mono. It's very good line. I have used a plethora of lines, many lines are effective.. If you wish to color you're lines, it won't hurt. Also, mono was and is plenty good enough to catch Giant fish... Was then and is now as well. As if Bass can't be caught on mono...hmm...
  9. Welcome to BR.... Enjoy the Forums, Great Fishing in those lakes!
  10. Martin, is over, over due to win a classic, no doubt, he would be my hopeful winner, but it's also a roll of dice as to who can bust them for the whole tournament.
  11. The Jest of this thread, was not a attack on Quantum as you suggest, but rather a fact based realization, that flipping switches, levers, etc. are not needed, and they are a weak link, they often confuse new users. Personally if a person wants to use Quantum, that's their choice.. The proverbial " you get what you pay for " is also Fact filled, predominantly... I also took notice of you're proposed hate statement concerning Flippers who use Spinning. I have fished with a man who does just that, and it was amazing the skill he demonstrates as His preferred method... Like I said, you're use of Haters going to Hate, is ludicrous ....
  12. Hate? That's a redicilous statement, are you in drama school?
  13. Shimano Reels are 97% Centrifugal braking.... Not sure why you requested opinions on them if you don't like that braking style, nevertheless, you may need to dig deeper for a DC reel which are really neat... But it's not needed, pin brakes are easy..... If you don't prefer that, go Diawa.
  14. Is this a trick question? Uh, yea.... Not often, but often enough...
  15. Those will be sweet, I am sure....nice!
  16. Don't use the Flipping Switch, just use the reel normal like, that's my advise...
  17. Yea man.... Gotta upsize those rods and even reels for those Godzilla crankbaits! 10xd is a massive crank, not a fan myself.
  18. Cadence can vary, it just depends, but it's a popping bait, not a walking bait, you need to experiment to see, hear it at work.
  19. Yea, great baits... Balsa, more of a blurp, than say a chug type sound... I like em!
  20. I certainly have heard nothing but praise outta both baits... They must be Exceptional....
  21. ^ That's a good deal...
  22. I have zero issues with mine, however if you don't like it... Try a Zill... I owned Diawas for 20 years... They are good reels too, 2 nd to Shimano, but still very good... Lol!!!!
  23. Buy ASAP !! Like in the morning dude! So Cool...
  24. Another Vote for Fenwick... I used Croix's SC2 blends in the mid 90's... Ok then but something's changed and the Fenwick is back in a very good way....
