  1. I dont know if bass fishing in the area i live in is really gaining that much in popularity but I think that is has remained steady if not grown some over the years. they is always people who quit fishing for whatever reason and it seems there is more people coming into the sport than leaving. As far as it losing popularity and it helping with crowed lakes. I have a bigger problem with the pleasurer boaters and jet skiers than I do bass fisherman.
  2. I would have to go with the rattle trap just because I havent fish with many of the others.
  3. it was mentioned earlier about fishing a mystery lake. Ray scott done that some time ago for the classic if i am not mistaken. But I think today the classic is to much of a business or to commercial so they publize it way in advance. I think if not someone correct me if i am wrong.
  4. Pardon my ignorance on this but are they any stimpultaions or rules to using the electronic call (so to speak) in BASS or FLW tournament competition? These guys are excellent anglers with or without all the fancy electronic gizmos. When ever going to a new body of water most of them is already working on a game plan well before getting to the ramp. they study topo maps, time of year, ect. Then once one the water they are great drivers and well as skillful anglers.
  5. Most of big cats have come off live bluegill. I have also caught some nice cats on herron and thread fin shad. My personal best is a 32 lb which came off a live bream almost the size of my hand.
  6. I was just curious as to what everyone favorite brand of baitcaster is. I would have to say mine is quantum with either pinnacle or shimano a close second.
  7. I have quantum energy pt on a bsp crankin stick and it is one of my favorite reels.
  8. These are some good lures. I use them weightless especially around weed lines. My personal prefrence is white with a red hook. have had good sucess with these in the past. I will also keep one tied on an extra rod anytime I am throwing a buzzbait. Alot of times I will have a blowup on the spinnerbait i will immediatly switch rods and throw the fluke to where i had the blow up. This tactic worked well this past summer.
  9. welcome to the forum! like they saidread some of the articles lot of info there. Another thing you can do is check with a local bait shop or some local anglers to get an idea of lake you are planning to fish. Alot of times they can at least point you in the right direction.
  10. I really like this thread on offshore structure beacuse most anglers are as said early vision oriented and they fish what they can see. On my home lake we have a tremendous amount of out of towners who fish it and 90% vision oriented so the ones of us who fish it regular has to go to underwater or offshore structure due to fishing pressure. When looking for offshore structure a good topo map and electronics is a must.
  11. yes been skunked. Some days you are just in the zone and it seems like you get a hook up on every cast and some days you couldnt buy a hook up. Thats the way life is I reckon but I love the days I am in the zone.
  12. welcome aboard. And i agree glenn and the mod do a super job with the site.
  13. If there was any way i could i would burn a rattle trap around the weeds and if not i would go with soft plastic texas rigged or unweighted fluke.
  14. Nice fish but did you eat the did you eat the turtle? lol just kidding
  15. I will be sure to use the link through this site when ordering thanks for the info.
  16. I spot fish with semi-pattern approach. I mean I may attack each spot differently due to the characteristics of a paticular spot such as cover or structure But Each spot may be similar in a paticular pattern such as depth or water temp ect. so a its a combination for me
  17. i am a member of bass and flw

hey WCCT nice looking bait. I was on the getbitlures.com website and saw the classic frog i was wondering if you have tried them. they are a little pricy but looks like they be pretty good.
  19. SOFT PLASTIC for me. mainly zoom some gycb
  20. #1 zoom #2 gycb #3 robo worm
  21. TRUE HAWG nice fish
  22. ditto i agree with jim most recreational fisherman are bank pounders so you must look for not so obvoius spots as he mentioned. Most lakes has underwater structure with the use of some good electronics and topo map you should be to locate some fishing that is overlooked by most.
  23. they are a differnece in tourney anglers and the hawg hunters and each has there own charcteristics. Also there is some that can fish tourneys and catch some trophy fish form time to time. I am tourney angler and My first priorty is catching my limit, then working on a heavier bag and if i catch a trophy then thats all the better. I feel i have to concentrate on catching bass consistently and then working on catching bigger bass.
  24. DONT!!!!!!!!!
  25. Here in georgia it has to be a non game species such as carp or gar
