  1. My wife uses spincasters very few issues the only thing she has to do is when she is throwing real light lures she has to retighten the line on the spool. The thing I found out is when putting the line on the spool do it the same way you put line on a spinning reel. As far as value that depends on how much you want to spend the Zebco 33 was the best reel for the money years ago but the quality of that reel has dropped off she now has the Zebco Platinum and last year I bought her a couple of the Zebco Bullets and that is her favourite reel now.
  2. I agree you maybe getting set up especially if you talk about how well you do at fishing. If the $$$'s are on the line he could be that old guy at the pool hall who has been getting beaten all night and when someone gets the nerve to make that big bet and he unzips that $1,500.00 pool cue and takes your rent money. In all seriousness if you enjoy his company and enjoy fishing with him it doesn't matter who's fishing with what and who's catching the most fish just enjoy the company and let him know how much you appreciate the sacrifices that he has made. This thread reminds me that Sam and I need to get together on the water this year?
  3. Thanks The young man that took the picture went back out with me five days later and got his biggest bass that he ever caught 5.9lber
  4. Wow!!! That was awesome
  5. I dont know about being the man but I do agree it is a joy of our sport watching others get excited about fishing.
  6. We all know what it feels like when we catch our PB but I got to watch someone catch his PB. This young man has been working for me for about three years and I try to take him out fish when ever I can because he loves to fish. He hasn't done much bass fishing before going with me and he has seen me land several over 5lbs and three over 6lbs so he has been asking alot of questions and trying learn. Up til today he said the biggest bass he had ever caught was about 3lbs and he caught that on a live minnow. Long story short I got to watch him catch this 5.9lber his new PB and he was trying to catch a bass. I have to say watching this 25 year old man become a giddy little schoolgirl was awesome. After he stop shaking he kept thanking me for taking the time show him about bass fishing. I realized what my means when she says that she enjoys watch me catch big fish because I really enjoyed witnessing his excitement.

The water clarity up the river was alot better we started at the swamp, didn't go up into the swamp there was already 4 boats in there that we could see so we head up the river. We fished for about four and a half hours ended with 3 large mouth, 1 spotted bass, 1 small mouth bass and one pike all in all not bad for 48° stained water. However I should have muscled my way in the swamp the three guys that trailed at the end of the day when we did had a great day, well one of the guys on the boat the other two I think was along for the ride. They landed 25 the best five was about 22lbs two was over 6lbs. He said the water temperature was between 52 and 55. I'm hoping to get back out there Sunday.
  13. Well I'm going to Chesdin tomorrow with the wife and give it a try. My buddy and I put in at the dam yesterday to get his new transducer fine tuned for his side scan. The water level is down to normal pool but it is still muddy near the dam we went in Whippnock creek and Cattle creek the water clarity was better but still pretty stained about 12 to 14 inches of visible. We are going to put in at Lake Chesdin Campground and head up into the old river and try our luck depending on water clarity.
  14. No nothing serious just sore. They put in at Rockahock the water was very high but pretty clear. They didn't run to the lower end of the river not sure of the water conditions there. They caught 4 bass and 1 pike. The biggest was about 3lbs not bad for January .
  15. Didn't make out today I fell yesterday and hurt my back but a buddy of mine went. I'm waiting for a report.
  16. Route 5 more than likely or Morris Creek
  17. Anyone been on the Chick lately? I'm thinking about headed down that way tomorrow and was wondering what the water conditions was like.

  19. Nice. The wife and I was going Sunday as well but she came down with a cold. I was at the ramp when yall put in I came down to to check out the water. I didn't recognize you or I would have introduced myself.
  20. Anyone been on the lake lately? Went by the public ramp today there was about 10 trucks and trailers in the parking lot. The water still looks muddy and as little high.
