  1. Awesome Beavis and Butthead shirt haha
  2. That's the users fault lol not the reel. I think faster reels like this are interesting, of course it's not something you will use to present every type of lure with. The option to reel faster can give you options of different presentation methods. Maybe something the fish haven't seen before.
  3. Exactly, I'm more than positive you can have a rod built that you would be quite impressed by for that money.
  4. Powell makes a great rod, I'm sure you'll be happy with them.
  5. I tend to agree with this. What line you choose should definately be dictated by what rod size and type you are using to crank with and what kind of stuff your throwing at or around.
  6. That rod would be better for heavier medium diving and deep diving crankbaits. You'd have a hard time throwing smaller squarebills and light crankbaits with it.
  7. Cxx is awesome for cranking. It is super strong. I really like to use it on my squarebill rod, where I'm throwing around a lot of rocks and cover.
  8. Shallow squarebills? Medium crankbaits or deep crankbaits?
  9. Dang I'm sorry to hear that. My store didn't even have one crucial on the racks. I was hoping they would have a few.
  10. The store closest to me has a terrible selection, but I did manage to find a st croix rage, 7'1 medium fast. Was 60 bucks. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. I just got a fenwick hmg a few weeks ago. No doubt in my mind it's the best built rod I have seen in the 100$ range. I've had and fished a lot of rods around that range, and the fenwick has been my favorite so far. Wish I had more of them.
  12. My father has a bb1, it is def more suited for bigger baits. He has it on one of his cranking rods, and works well with medium-large cranks, but doesn't do great with light lures. The bb1 pro would be a different story. I just picked up a tournament mg lews at gander mountain for 99$, you may wanna look around and see if there are any sales close to you. As far as the new lite reels they have, I have no clue, haven't used one or seen one in person yet.
  13. Well I went to bass pro shop tonight and ended up with a fenwick hmg 7 ft medium rod. Checked out the TFO signature series and to be honest the fenwick felt and looked like a better built rod for the money. Out of all my 100$ rods the fenwick feels better built, I will see next weekend if it fishes as well as my others. Thanks all for the suggestions.
  14. Sounds what I'm looking for. I almost never use braid around here anyway. I use flouro with my jerkbaits, usually 10-12 pound. I'll check the rod out on bass pro site. Thanks for the help.
  15. It's really just what I'm comfortable with. I like a 7tt rod over the shorter rods. Also a lot of the time I really snap my rod tip hard on slack line l, when I'm working deeper running jerkbaits. I feel like with a medium powered rod, the rod is just all over the place when I need to pop the deeper jerkbaits hard. Really just a preference thing I guess you could say. Don't take me wanting a rod with some back bone, as me wanting a broomstick. I like a rod with a good flexible tip(like most want with treble hook baits) but I don't want a "whippy" rod,
  16. Where are you buying the tfo rods at?
  17. Looking for a 7ft jerkbait rod, no 6'6", just 7ft. 90-130$ range. I had a Powell diesel medium heavy glass cranking rod, that I loved for jerkbaits. With the price of the Powell diesels up from what they used to sell, I'm looking for some new alternatives. The Powell diesel I had was a 7ft medium heavy moderate tip rod, loved everything about it but the durability. I have a shimano clarus cranking rod that I've been using for jerkbaits, is a 7ft medium heavy moderate tip rod but has way less backbone than I like. The rod does have a good moderate tip, but doesn't have enough backbone for my liking. Any suggestions guys? Have looked at so many rods online, but not being able to feel them in person makes it fairly hard to decide on anything. I have gander mountain around me and they have a few diff brands, but not a big selection at all, so I'm just gonna put my trust in you guys haha, no pressure or anything. Give me your suggestions.
  18. You def wanna find a 7 ft cranking rod for the shallow baits. A 7'6 would be extremely difficult if you were fishing close to bank and throwing squarebills or something similar parallel to the bank.
  19. I have a citica e. I use it on my squarebill rod. The braking system works flawless and when setup right it will sling the squarebills a long way. The reel isn't as smooth as others I have, but it's been rock solid and never given me any trouble at all. I can honestly say it's a pleasure to fish with all day. You may wanna check out daiwa tatula also. It's in the same price range as the citica and is a very nice reel for the money. It's a tad bigger framed reel than the citica though.
  20. My father has a bb1. If I'm not mistaken 2 of the pins are spring loaded and stay on at all times. I'd start off with no other brakes on and adjust from there. The reel throws great, but it more aimed towards medium to heavy weight lures for sure. With really small square bills or other small plugs it can be a pain to throw. You definitely need to have your thumb in check. Good choice in reel, and you will be amazed at how smooth the reel feels on e you get on the water with it.
  21. Terrible idea. Just do what each and everyone of us does. Interested in a reel? Go put your hands on it in the store, and use your best judgement. You think it's a good fit for you, take a shot and spend the money, or call twh and demo a few reels. If you buy a decent reel with good reviews and you don't like it, you can easily get rid of it in the classifieds here or locally.
  22. Yea I know, but my 7'8 deep diving crank rod has a good bit more of a moderate tip than the veritas. Idk how I would like the action of the winch, but like I said I liked the feel of the casting rods.
  23. I went to bps today to feel my way around a few rods, and messed around with a new 2.0 winch. I believe it was 7'6, and the tip was way stiff for my liking for a cranking rod. But the regular veritas casting rods felt nice. I was also surprised when I checked out the daiwa tatula rods and the daiwa Lexa rods. The Lexa rods felt pretty nice for the price.
  24. Have any of you guys had your hands on the new daiwa s rods? They are 89-99$ at ***, look decent for the price. Looking to get a few new rods soon. Also looking at the new veritas rods. I liked the lightness and balance of the previous generation veritas rods, but the tip on the ones I've tried in the past seemed pretty stiff. If anyone has any time with either of these rods yet, I'd like to hear what you think about them.
  25. Thank you sir.
