  1. Rebel Jumpin' Minnows are very good at walking the dog, on top and sub-surface.
  2. I use 5" and 6", and sometimes I'll go with a 7"er.
  3. Yes it's worth it. Especially during heat waves. When I go I use dark 10" ribbon tail worms, senkos, Rage Craws and jitterbugs. I fish the shoreline at night. A headlamp will make re-tying and unhooking a lot easier. But be warned, the instant your headlamp goes on, mosquitos by the millions will attack your face. I turn mine on ONLY when landing and unhooking a fish.
  4. A lot of good smallmouth fishing on middle Saranac. Most of the shorelines are very rocky with some grass mixed in as well. Just be warned, you may catch as many or more pike than you do bass.
  5. I LOVE IT!
  6. Culprit Fat Max and 10" ribbon tails.
  7. If you are a true fan, you never ever ever switch sports teams. Period.
  8. Got some really nice ones recently: 19"er after dark 4.25 lbs another 4.25 lber 19.5 inches
  9. Feel free to pass some of that "decline" to NYS. The waters I fish are so loaded with fishermen they're unfishable during the day.
  10. Maybe its the fact that every single body of water these days is LOADED with a million other fishermen, not to mention kayakers, jet-skiers, paddle boarders and pleasure boaters. Makes it really tough to fish.
  11. Coke is absolutely delicious. Yes it's worth it.
  12. 16-18" - nice 19-20" - big 20"+ - approaching my PB
  13. The whole state of NY is LOADED with trout streams, creeks and lakes. And it's home to a nationally recognized top trout waterway- the Au Sable River.
  14. So will a simple antiseptic.
  15. Small piece of worm on a tiny hook about 3' below a bobber. Throw it near any weeds. You may have to adjust the bobber, but usually not.
  16. I like catching larger ones, theyre a lot of fun. But the small ones, like 18-26" are way more trouble then theyre worth. They go crazy in the boat, the trebles are always hooked really deep and they're mouths are still filled with teeth. No thanks. But any pike 30" or over is a blast. They fight like crazy, they're easier to hold and control and make a great photo as well.
  17. The fact that you caught him again means he was feeding/active at the time. Animals, including fish generally won't feed if they're sick or dying.
  18. Not my most productive, but I always throw top-water early morning and evening during the summer. My favorite summer bait is a Culprit 10" ribbon-tail worm.
  19. When I was learning to use baitcasters, I learned the following: Braid is MUCH easier to learn to cast, but heavy monofilament is a lot more forgiving when picking out a backlash.
  20. Field and Stream (which I believe is exclusive to Dick's Sporting Goods) makes a great bag, which is what I use. It fits 4 3700 boxes, plus a small box or two. It also has two side pockets, a top pocket, front pocket and a net-pocket on the back.
  21. Just topped my best of the year last night.
  22. Wow nice fish! Size?
