  1. Glide baits and toads. Got no use for em.
  2. “Fair-weather friends” are no friends at all.
  3. Been listening to the Braves on the radio a lot. Gives it such a nostalgic feel. I have the MLB package so I can watch the Braves way up here but there is just something about listening to it on the radio while I’m out working in the garage. Joe Simpson’s voice really brings back memories of watching the Braves on TBS with my dad when I was a wee lad. @AlabamaSpothunter first series win and it comes against Philly. That helps the heart-ache. Strider dominated in his final rehab start and should be back with Atlanta next week. Maybe the pitching can carry us and make a run? Sale will figure it out. I’m glad I drafted Schwellenbach on my fantasy team too. I had a feeling he was gonna take the next step this season. I haven’t given up hope just yet.
  4. Do quality rods make a difference? In some form or another, of course they do. Or else there wouldn't be a market for them. But for me personally, I start seeing very diminished returns when I go over my typical rod budget of $200. I have found I can get almost equal responsiveness and light-weightedness (pretty sure that ain't a word), for around $200 than I can for $300. I know this price point isn't what some would consider high-end but its relative. My $200 rods are in a different league than my $60-$70-$100 rods, but can stand toe-to-toe with the $300 rods. This is my experience anyway.
  5. It’s remarkable how fast a bass can inhale and reject a bait. Gotta be quick on the draw! That’s why bite detection is so key for jig fishing. When in doubt, set the hook, but when fishing laydowns, the trick is to reduce the doubt so you aren’t setting the hook into tree limbs.
  6. Im only 33 but my parents made me mow the lawn when I was a kid with one of those. And I remember it didn’t actually cut the grass. It just built character apparently.
  7. Rage Tail Baby Menace.
  8. My bass haven’t gotten this memo
  9. It’s rare I don’t trim a skirt before I use the jig. Sometimes the skirt can inhibit the trailer’s action if it’s too long. Sometimes I want a large profile (trimming the skirt actually gives the jig a larger profile). I don’t trim spinnerbait skirts or any other skirts for that matter, but I will trim the feathers off the back treble on baits that have that.
  10. Oh man the deer around here leave no hosta uneaten! We started calling them deer-feed. Every hosta in the neighborhood is nibbled down to the dirt.
  11. I too have heard this all the time and seems like it’s settled science in the bass world, but this runs extremely opposite of what I have experienced. High water is one of my toughest bites, along with muddy, and often those are related to each other. But conventional knowledge does usually say that newly flooded areas are hot fishing.
  12. Dang Dwight’s been on the bigguns!
  13. My yard isn’t pristine, but it isn’t in disrepair either. I’m a landscaper by trade, but recently I’ve been appreciating more of the natural or at least “nature-inspired” look. That doesn’t mean there is trash or furniture or broken down cars in my yard or the grass isn’t mowed. But if there are some dandelions, hey good for the pollinators. Some leaves? Eh they’ll decompose and be good for the earth. I now favor brown mulch instead of the sterile looking black mulch. Grass is only the color of how much rain we’ve been getting. The main thing is we try to be is as chemical-free as possible. Now my back patio is a different story. When my girlfriend and I bought our house a few years ago, the backyard was in bad shape and had an ugly above ground pool smack dab in the middle. I took down the pool and turned the yard into a nice stone patio and garden area. That’s what gets all my attention. I put so many hours and calories into that project, I gotta maintain it. That’s where we spend the majority of our time outside anyway.
  14. Jigs are great. They catch fish year in and year out and there is a jig for every situation. If you are looking for a new jig company you should check out Siebert Outdoors. The best jigs I’ve ever fished and now are the only ones I’ll fish. Reasonably priced and they are a BassResource sponsor as well.
  15. Connell boated another 5lb smallie and a 4lb larry before period 2 ended. He’s up by over 20 now. Seems like he’s got it.
  16. Scrounger caught me an almost 10 several years ago, I’m a believer.
  17. The line choice should be dictated by type/amount of cover and the technique being used. One of the 6’6” rods would be fine to throw medium to large topwater baits. I use 10 or 12lb monofilament for topwaters, and that’s what I recommend to people for topwater fishing. 6’6” MH-F rods are versatile. Spinnerbaits, T-rigs, and jigs can also be used effectively with these rod specs. I use 30-40lb braid to a 25lb fluorocarbon leader for these techniques. You dont necessarily need a leader, and lots of people just use straight braid. For the spinning rods, while I personally never use braid on spinning gear, it’s the general consensus around here of much better fishermen than I that braid is the way to go. Probably something no heavier than 20lb. Both those rods would make fine finesse rods. I use a rod similar to the 7’1” for wacky rigs and similar to that 7”3’ is my dedicated drop shot rig.
  18. He’s really on em now. Another 4lber for Connell. He’s running up the score now! Another 5! This is fun to watch. It’s every cast for him.
  19. 5lb smallie for Connell. Was quite acrobatic when he was trying to land it.
  20. @A-Jay man you guys got walloped. If I was closer I’d load the equipment up and start heading your way. Hopefully you’re able to chase some brownies in between cleaning up that mess. You deserve a few 7lbers for weathering that storm.
  21. About that time to get the landscaping, garden, and outdoor projects started. August of last year I was in the middle of redoing my entire front landscaping when I broke my leg, so it has sat in a state of half-done for half a year now. Now that I’m healed I’ll be picking up where I left off. Gotta re-edge about 100’, remove the sod, and install new mulch and several plants. I also have to sand and stain the deck. May outsource that job though. Garden beds have to get turned and topped off with some fresh compost before receiving the seedlings that have been growing inside for about a month now. Lots of low hanging and dead branches need to get cut down. Excited to use my new pole saw. New power equipment makes work so much more fun. What’s on the agenda for outdoor projects and gardening this year for y’all?

Another terro user here. Has worked for my house. If anybody has a fruit fly remedy that actually works though I’d love to hear it.
  23. Welcome, from a fellow NY basser
