Popper was number one. Throw it on a 6’6” MF casting rod with a 7:1 reel spooled with 10lb nylon. Second was a spinnerbait on a 7’ MHF casting rod, 5:1 reel spooled with 30lb braid tied to a 20lb fluorocarbon leader.

Strike King Tour Grade

@ol'crickety throwing a bunch of different baits in a bunch of different locations. I usually do this to try and figure out what they want, but sometimes I never put together a pattern and end up junk fishing the whole day. On a typical day I may be throwing poppers over weed flats, Spinnerbaits along points, jigs into timber, frogs into lilies, drop shots on deep structure, and others. Some days I end up with like 15 fish caught on 10 different baits in 8 different types of structure/cover.

That kid could seriously fish! He was, and probably still is one heck of a stick.

Some people get really into fishing, post here a lot for a short amount of time and then it’s on to the next temporary hobby for them. Some folks who have been here a while don’t post as often as they used to but still log in routinely. Some folks have obviously passed away, but other people seem to just disappear from here for unknown reasons. I’ve been an active member for a decade now, and even though there may be monthlong spans when I don’t post anything due to life craziness, I’ve never gone more than a couple days or a week without logging in and doing some reading and seeing what is up with my fellow BRers.

I’d rather have a really nice rod with a decent reel over a decent rod and really nice reel.

I’ve seen just about all the live-action content, except Ahsoka which I’ll start in the next week or so. Also seen a lot of the animated content. I do a watch through of episodes 1-6 every winter. Apart from Episodes 7-9 (which I pretend don’t exist), I love it all. Rogue One is without a doubt my favorite. The Andor series is also great, as well as The Mandalorian of course. I didn’t hate The Book of Boba Fett as much as everybody else, and I also enjoyed the Kenobi miniseries. I’m here for it all.

Sounds like the trip of a lifetime, even without getting some fishing time in. Looking forward to seeing the content you share about it.

Had to convince the old girl to come inside. She loves the snow. I guess that’s the American Eskimo part she has. She would stay outside in the snow all day if I let her. 14 years old and still going strong. Was just given a clean bill of health at the vet, too.

Lews LFS, Pflueger President XT, a used Daiwa Fuego, Kastking even has some surprisingly decent reels at a lower budget. Most manufacturers have solid reels at lower price points in my opinion, besides Abu. Abu’s budget options are clunkers from my experience. Much better reels to be had for the same price.

I use the same box as @Scott F. They work great for split rings, glass beads, bobber stops, barrel swivels, split shot, or other small components.

Just had a crazy squall roll through. Dumped about 3 unexpected inches in an hour. Intense wind, total whiteout conditions.

We were supposed to get a 5-8 incher Tuesday but it’s been downgraded to just a dusting. A couple nights next week will be into the single digits but then it’s calling for temps to go right back up to the mid 40s.
