DTs are my go to crankbaits. I’ve caught fish on em in Northern NY on the Canadian border down to Sinaloa, Mexico. They come in some great colors. Occasionally you’ll have to tune the line-tie to get them to track straight, but other than that they’ve been great quality baits for me. I have some that are going on 15 years old.
  2. My Fenwick Methods travel rods have the exact same thing. For whatever reason, it’s supposed to look like this.
  3. St. Croix Victory should suit you well. The victories are nice rods. If you’re only using it for “light” punching, you may want to consider the 7’3” MHF. I like medium heavies for all but the thickest gnarliest cover. Another thing I’d consider is the Mojo Bass line from St. Croix. Not quite as nice as the Victories, but I think they can be a better value relative to cost. Never used the Tatula rods but I hear high praises sung about them.

Sieberts brush jig is without a doubt my favorite jig. They fish wood exceptionally, but they also come through grass pretty well, and stand up nicely on a hard bottom. If I’m throwing a jig, 90% of the time it’s a brush jig.
  5. Me too man. Having serious withdrawal. Im hoping that in one month from now I’ll have open water and be on my boat. Haven’t had any solid ice this year, but enough to keep my boat off the lakes.
  6. If you only have 70 of one kind of bait, I’d say you’re doing a good job of repelling the bait monkey.

I hear a lot of good things about Dirty Jigs, both on these forums and elsewhere. I’ve never used them, because my current jig brand (Siebert Outdoors), suits all my jig needs and have zero reason to explore other jigs. But if Siebert stopped selling jigs tomorrow, Dirty is the brand I’d be trying based on the good reviews I see about them.
  8. Yep. They’re pleasures to fish with. If i was buying a reel with a budget between $150-$200, it would be this reel every time.
  9. They’re my #1 C-rig bait. Good for T-rigging as well.
  10. Feels like it’s been a while since we got a report from @AlabamaSpothunter. I wonder if he finally got his DD and needs some time process haha
  11. @Pat Brown Hawg!
  12. While I haven’t used the SLX, I can tell you that the LFS is a sweet reel for the $100 price point. I’ve also heard a lot of people on here say the same thing. For a general purpose reel, I think a 6:1 will suit your needs the best.
  13. I’m self-employed as a landscaper, and occasionally I’ll work on properties that are waterfront. I’ve asked a few times if I can fish and was always welcomed. But normally I like to just finish my work and get home so I can take my boat out where I wanna go.

Yeah the DSG that F&S was apart of is still open, and they mentioned “something big” on their website so I think we’ll be getting a Public Lands. But with BPS moving 10 minutes from them, I don’t think they’ll last long.

That’s great. I’d love to have a small tackle shop around me to support, but apart from one shop that really only sells live-bait, we have nothing around here. Even our local Field and Stream closed. But I did just find out that a Bass Pro Shops is being built 5 minutes from where I live.
  16. Thanks for the report! Sounds like an awesome trip.
  17. @Aaron_H did you get your 7 pound tilapia yet?
  18. I don’t know what conditions you’ll be fishing, but this is what I’ll have tied on for the first trip of the year:
  19. American F-22 downed one in Canada as well yesterday. So far 3 have been downed. One off the coast of Carolina, one in Alaska and one over northern Yukon.
  20. Yep. And lots more showing up. Something on radar prompted the DoD to close Montana airspace but they never found the object. Seems like they’re at altitudes that pose risk for air traffic, unIike the first balloon. The curiosity is killing me.

Another one yesterday prompted some airspace in Montana close for “DoD” activities. 4 more spotted over Canada as well.
  22. About as “old school” as I’ll go is a Hula Popper, Jitterbug or Culprit ribbbon tail
  23. I have a spinning and casting rig each dedicated to jerkbaits. Spinning rig is for the small ones and the casting rig is for all normal sizes and up. I much prefer a casting rig, and am looking into a small casting outfit capable of throwing the tiny jerkbaits.
