  1. 11lbs caught in the Orlando area while on vacation in March. Released to be caught again . I agree on the releasing and just getting a replica instead.
  2. I'm sure there are alot of lures that work that I didn't use but I had decent luck with a 5'' grub on a jighead and wacky worms. Hopefully the locals will give some tips on fishing there .
  3. Glad to hear you had a good outing. Did you get hung up on the rocks alot? We got stuck alot just south of Luray.
  4. It's not as far north as you mentioned but even in Delaware a 10lber is rare. Our state record was broken a couple years ago and it was held for a few decades. 10lbs 10oz is our record. Wouldn't be surprised if a giant came out of New York. I got lucky and caught a 7lber my first time fishing the finger lakes.
  5. I live a mile from the De. river but the smallmouth fishing isn't as good as it is further north into Pa. Haven't been to the Delaware water gap but it's almost as far away as the Shenandoah river is from here.
  6. They can. Some of the ones in my pond learned from watching the other bass, bluegill and turtles tearing up the pellets. There's alot of pros and cons to pellet feeding . I don't know all of them but the obvious is they get bigger much faster and it's interesting at my pond to watch 3lb bass eating pellets right along with the bluegill. Some of the gills are over a pound in a pond less than an acre. BTW what's up Slade? I met you at Casitas in January when I was fishing with Doug.
  7. I live in Delaware. It's pretty flat here.
  8. Wish I knew, we could of met up. You have nice scenery in your area.
  9. Yes it is. I wish it was more local to me.
  10. Some of the bass and bluegill were pellet trained when I received them from the hatchery a few years ago. There are quite a few of both species that learned to eat the pellets from the other fish. It's a feeding frenzy when they start noticing me throwing the food in.
  11. We launched out of Luray. I don't remember the exact area except it was the south fork.
  12. While on vacation with the wifey, I went out on the Shenandoah river with a guide. The water was lower than normal as the guide had to keep getting out and pushing us off the rocks in the canoe.I was throwing wacky worms, swimjigs and a 5'' grub on a jighead. I heard the water was clear but didn't get the full effect till I was there. I caught about a dozen smallmouth . All were small except for a 3lber that did the classic smallmouth move..soon as I set the hook he jumped right outta the water and shook off. We saw some big bass swim under the boat in a deep pocket we were in but couldn't get any bait near them as they were going by. Definitely something to try again.
  13. This thread has alot of useful info. As far as the pellet feeding goes I have a few ponds where bluegill and bass are pellet trained. Interesting to see 3lb bass gourging on pellets at the surface right next to the big bluegills.
  14. It reminded me of my Grumman boat about 25 years ago with a Mariner on the back.. Good luck on your next PB.
  15. Congrats on your PB. Is that a grumman boat?
  16. I want to thank bass resource member Bassinbee for offering to take me out on his bass boat to Pelham Lake this morning while on my vacation.. He would have fished with me all day but I opted for just a couple hours so I could go sight seeing on skyline drive on my birthday with the wifey. It's a nice lake and didn't have hardly any traffic at all. Had a decent outing catching 3 or 4 bass and losing a nice one with a headshake. Thanks again Dave.
  17. I stumbled upon that site the other day. Thanks for posting it though. I'm going to try to check them out when I get there. We are staying in Culpeper but will be traveling around the area.
  18. Nice tanker! She will rub that in his face lol.
  19. Give Chuck a call. His guide service is who I used when I caught my 11lber while in the Orlando area this past March. He fishes the Butler and Harris chains also I'm pretty sure. http://www.chucksguideservice.com/
  20. Has anyone had any luck fishing for smallmouth bass on the shenandoah river?
  21. I'll be boatless and hiring a guide. One guide mentioned the potomac river . Depending where we stay I may have to resort to some local pond near the rental house.
  22. I'm going to be in Luray and the Skyline drive area soon and was wondering if anyone had any recent outings at either Pelham or Anna. Which would be best for September or any other bass spots along Skyline drive. Thanks for any input.
  23. That looks awesome!.. I need to contact who did yours to get one done for my pb in my avatar.
  24. It does look like Elodea. Looks like it's time to pull out the punching jig and give it a go. Thanks for the response.
  25. Yesterday while fishing I lost a bass atleast 7lbs on a jig while dragging her through thick grass and tree branches. Does anyone know what kind of grass this is and what lures would you use to get through it. Iv'e been using weedless worms and a swimjig.
