December Chowing
I'm taking advantage of the few last days we have here in the upper 40's. Not sure what water temp was today but I'd guess around 40. First cast at the first spot I pulled up on caught a 4lb pickerel. Thought it was going to be a toothy day. Caught 8 bass while anchored with a couple 4lbers mixed in. Continued to move along catching bass pretty frequently on cranks and swimbaits. Didn't get to hit too many spots before having to cut the day short. Ended up with 18 bass 4 pickerel. They were still hammering moving baits, didn't have to slow roll too much.

Does there come a point in time where it's just over with?
Definitely frustrating but as stated as long as the water isn't hard ( not counting ice fishing) they are still catchable. Locally Iv'e been catching them on small swimbaits and lipless cranks in 42 degree water. Last week was catching smallies over 5lbs in the snow in New York. Don't give up.

Bass fishing book
Thanks for the info. I was looking all around trying to find any current reports from Jalisco. Haven't heard any recent stuff about Camelot either.

Vacation Smallies
Thanks everyone. It seems the harsher the conditions the bigger the bass I have caught during my upstate New York trips. I hear some river smallies calling me in the next month or so.

Craziest Conditions I Have Ever Fished
I fished the day after this pic. Was a little warmer but 40mph gusts and 4ft breakers. Only one other boat out besides us and I don't think he stayed long as he was in a 12-14ft boat.

Craziest Conditions I Have Ever Fished
Things we do to try to catch a trophy fish. I know what ya mean, Monday I had minimal feeling in hands and feet even with arctic socks and boots. Upstate New York 28 degrees snowing and windy.

Vacation Smallies
You're right you definitely gotta want it. I was too far from home to back out from weather but battled some elements lol. Only one other boat out besides us and I don't think he lasted too long in the ocean like water in his 12-14' boat. You had no shortage of tank bronzebacks yourself this year. Thanks man. BTW I sent you a PM.

Vacation Smallies
Met with a guide buddy in upstate NY while on vacation to search for some chunky bronzebacks. First half day session was Monday. Snowing , windy and 28 degrees was what we dealt with most of the morning. Caught a nice one within 5 minutes on a jig which sometimes could mean a slow day for me. Continued jigging through out the morning with partially numb fingers and toes but caught a decent amount in the 3-5lb class. Biggest 5 was a little over 25. Second session was on Tuesday at a different lake. Weather was warmer but wind gusts were 40 + with 4ft breakers in some areas. Was told I would probably be soaked all day prior to launching. Luckily I stayed pretty dry considering the conditions. Took a few minutes to get my sea legs but then got used to it. They were on a weird bite , lost many that slammed the bait then was gone soon as you swing on them. Ended up with a good amount of fish having to deal with the wind and not finding any big groups of them. Always a blast fishing up here and plan to get back next year sometime. Part 2 from the second day

Insane fishing results! Haven't watched the video yet but when I do the urge to go there next year ( which is already bad) will be tough to control.

Fishing in florida or california
Looks like Florida is winning the poll. Iv'e caught big bass in Ca. and Fl. but would pick Fl. for the fact like mentioned that you can catch a 10+ in any given pond or lake and there is no shortage of them that's for sure. This DD was caught in a neighborhood pond in central Fl while on vacation.

Birthday Bronzebacks
Thanks everyone. It would take a while to get tired of reeling those river smallies in.

Birthday Bronzebacks
These were caught a few weeks ago on my birthday. They pale in comparison to Ajay's tankers lol but those river smallies pull like a champ. Caught a bunch and lost a bunch.

Ever lost such a big fish you just cant fish anymore for that day/week?
Had it happen on Lake Toho few years back. First few minutes of fishing early in the morning . Saw the bait getting hit , set the hook, the wrestling match started. Fish was turning the 20' bass boat. Kept reeling hard to keep her from burying in the hydrilla. She surfaced about 10ft from the boat curled up and looking like textbook butterball status. Soon after she got her second wind, changed direction and she came unbuttoned. Was like playing tug of war and the other person dropped the rope. I didn't know whether to cry or cuss first. Made it tough to say the least to even come close to being able to concentrate on fishing again. The guide seeing loads of DD bass in his 30+ year service estimated it to be 13ish lbs. Ended up catching a DD and some other chunks that day but wanted the teener bass. He texts me a pic of a 13.5 one of his clients caught a day or two later from the same specific area.

Big fish in small pond??
As stated it depends on alot of things. My recent homestate PB of 7.5 was caught in a 2-3 acre pond and that's a northern strain. In Florida I have caught bass over 10 in about the same size waters. I have a 3/4 acre pond that has bass over 5 but I maintain it pretty frequently.

New PB Homestate bass
Thanks. Now everything is going to seem small for a while.

Good stuff seeing what's lurking down there that you're trying to catch.
