  1. I'd try the craigslist personals men seeking men section
  2. I use braid on a lot of my rods Carolina rig included. Ever since I learned to tie the improved Albright to attach a mono/flouro leader to braid I've been thinking I could do away with the swivel on my Carolina rig anyone tried this I figured weight two beads then tie the flouro leader to my braid and the beads hit the knot
  3. Just for slipping on a wide gap off set hook to give little belly weight on a fluke and a Carolina rig
  4. I've been impressed with my powell diesels. I found them on tackle warehouse for 54.88 bought a couple to try then replaced all of my compre's and mojos with them. Think I've got 7 now as my main rods.
  5. Everywhere around here carries the veritas for 99.99. Didn't have any use for one but still a decent price
  6. Just depends i guess. I've caught a ton of 8-10 lb bass from extremely well managed ponds so if I beat my record and caught one that weighed 15+ out of a pond it wouldn't deter me a bit from making that cast. I'd just make sure it was a frog or buzzbait I threw though lol. Now on the river that's a different story one of these days I'll catch a 10+ on the river
  7. Dicks had citicas for $65 and you got a free pinnacle rod with every purchase!!!!!The rods aren't the nicest I've ever seen but I'll give them away to people that need them. The blue skeet Reese rods were 2 for $50!!!!!!!!!! There were a ton of other good deals. My debit card started to melt before we left then we stopped at Simmons in Bessemer on the way home they had Abu Garcia veritas rods for $69
  8. That's crazy guntersville is massive you can't keep someone off public water no matter what type of event is going on.
  9. I've got a few of the quantum accurist's can't remember the model 500 maybe. The red blue and yellow. Stock piled several when I worked at academy 10+ Years ago. They are awesome reels the ones I just retired were 8-9 years old and still going strong. I've got a couple of the 570pt's the light grey ones from the same era I just spooled up tonight. I've got one of the rainbow colored quantum pt's I swim jigs with I bought when the classic was at lay a few years ago,two of the grey energy's,two grey accurist pt's the only exception's are of one of the lews speed spools I bought last week and 4 shimano citicas I bought at the classic today for $60 bucks it's all quantum and I'd still fish quantum but the newer accurist feel cheap.
  10. I worked In a tackle store for a few years and I've gotten to play with some really nice reels and I know that buying a high end spinning reel is an investment that will normally pay off in the longevity of the reel. my spinning reels see extremly limited use mostly when it gets really tough and I need to throw something really finesse usually a 1/16 shakey head or small weightless soft plastic for small spotted bass so I don't get the benefit of a high quality drag. Now if I fished in gin clear water for big smallmouth or for redfish on the coast I'd definetly spend more on a good reel
  11. If you don't use a mono backing atleast enough to cover the spool a couple of times the braid will eventually start slipping
  12. I've never seen the need to spend much money on a spinning reel. Maybe 40-50 bucks at the absolute most for the reel but I'll put it on a very nice rod
  13. I feel like you need to use both and be versatile. I usually carry enough powell rods with lews and quantum bait casters on them to stock a small army but I also like to have atleast 2/3 spinning rods on the boat just in case
  14. I use a 7 foot medium heavy fast tip if I'm throwing a soft plastic frog like a seismic frog with 30lb braid. Buy if I'm fishing a scum frog type frog I'll use a 7'6 medium heavy with 65lb braid. I like a 7.1 reel with the drag tightened all the way down. Biggest thing for me is keeping the rod top high so when then bass hits you can "throw" him some slack
  15. I've always wondered if the little 1/4 ounce war eagle buzzbaits caught fish like the big buzzbaits do. I may try one of them for that and the other for my swimming fluke/small swim bait rod
  16. Hard to know without having been up there in awhile. Weather has been crazy in alabama fir the last month 75 degrees one day but snow 3 dats before and after that. We are getting hit with a pretty big storm right now. So if someone put a gun to my head and said go catch a bass I would probably pick up a white/chartreuse war eagle spinner bait with two gold blades and go find some wood. If it warms up some the next couple of days I'd pick up a 1/4 ounce Davis swim jig in spot chaser first thing in the morning around what grass is left. Oh and I'd be in honeycomb doing it
  17. Why don't you see spinning rods used for different techniques other than your finesse baits(drop shot, shakey head, finesse jigs etc)? I buy mostly mid range to high end rods but I found a couple of 7'2 medium heavy shimano sellus spinning rods today on clearance for 20 bucks. Not the greatest rods in the world but who could pass up a $60 dollar rod for what a couple decent lures cost. They are a lot stiffer than any medium heavy spinning rod I've felt. There's no way i would ever throw any finesse baits with rods this stiff.I had a couple of extra spinning reels so I spooled them with 30lb power pro I had laying around and have no clue what to use them for. What would you use these for? I was thinking soft plastic swim bait and.....
  18. Couldn't figure out how to edit but I only order from tackle warehouse
  19. If I order online it's usually a several hundred dollar order and I like my free shirt and stickers. Any order over 50 is free shipping but I always use fed ex next day shipping for $10 bucks
