  1. We jackpole 40# tuna all the time with heavy gear of course as for bass if its my flipping rod then 6lb is my airborne limit if I'm drop shotting then I'm down on the deck for a lip grip its all about committing to the first grab
  2. Try metering some fish if your yak is set up with one I would drop shot 5lb fluoro with a nose hook tiny fluke or other finnese bait fish presentation. A brush jig head with a pit boss on it would be on another rod. My third would be 7lb fluro with a duo spinbait 80. Round it out with a roboworm on a finesse shakey head. I would also have an h2o express CRULD ready to be tied on. I love fishing clear water good luck and have fun
  3. Siebert jig with rage trailer with the tips dipped in some jj's magic. Maybe a gamma craw or black and blu. You might try some frog action early and late in the day or a nice loud rattle crankbait maybe a squarebill for the shallower water
  4. Xrk 25 knocker is my go to search bait every time I am fishing a new body of water. That lure is a great indicator of fish conditions.
  5. Zenith shakey from siebert outdoors is top on my list and very affordable. If I'm fishing finese with 5 and 6 lb fluoro the 1\16 oz boss shakey heads are great small heads.
  6. Wish I had a local academy cause their shipping sucks. 1 order comes from 5 different stores around the country and there is always a screw up. But d**n I love some of their in house lures and their sales are hard to beat.
  7. Forschner knives are what most commercial fisherman use I grew up in a fishing family. Otherwise dexter russel. Both have great steel quality good flex and great steel that takes to a stone very well. Can find both on eBay pretty cheap
  8. Owner twislock 2\0 works for me on the 6"
  9. Bluegill wakebait has been good for bustin bed fish. That and a shakey head bold bluegill roboworm gets nailed. Caught numerous fish Saturday on the robo probably 23 bank fish on these
  10. I need to move by a store that actually marks stuff down my dicks and mart had nothing worth busting out the wallet for
  11. Can't wait for my jig order and warmer water. Come on mike and weatherman You are my only hope and reading southern fish reports aint helping much
  12. Hard to beat seaguar premier fluoro leader material. This is a saltwater special on the west coast long range fishing fleet. Use it for wahoo and giant tuna but they also make it in 12 15 &20lb test. Best strength for its diameter and lies softly on the water. Uni to uni is the smallest connection knot if your diameters are far from one another just double up the spectra side of the uni knot. I have noticed much larger fish coming on my top water lures since I have gotten away from straight spectra just 3ft oof mono or fluoro has meant bigger fish. Numbers were always good but the older fish seem Leary of spectra.
  13. Dropshot or weightless or wacky. Roboworms always seem to catch just some presentations work better than others on any given day.
  14. Dang I have never seen someone so sensitive on an outdoors forum. Me thinks roger needs a hug and some fishing therapy. Guess I have thick skin from duck hunting forums. At the end of the day its just fishing not a quadratic equation get back to basics and enjoy nature instead of quantifying it.
  15. Shakey head with bold bluegill roboworm had to clear skim ice before I could cast
  16. Just buy drop shot finesse weights with the swivel built in. Eliminates twist and they are reasonable from the right places. Spinshot hooks need to be a wire gauge heavier for me they are just to thin for 5lb+ fish. Can it be done sure but I won't be the one testing my luck on every drop. Owner flyliner or gama light wires are still lite but have much more strength.
  17. They are the best jigs out there bar none. Custom lures at a steal of a price. I can assure you this is more of a labor of love for Mike cause the time he has in each lure for the low price he charges plus the high quality components he is making less than minimum wage on his lures. A lot of bass fishing is having something the fish haven't seen a hundred times before this is where the color selection and premium finish makes a difference especially on the better size older fish that jig fishing targets. I have been co-angler countless times and have mopped up fish that my angler in the bow never got a bump from
  18. Jig n pig has accounted for most of my 8lb+ fish just seems to be a big fish go to. Frogs and large 7" swimbaits have taken a few. That being said my 12-3 pb came on a rattling rapala #5 in tenesse shad cast on top of breaking fish busting shad.
  19. My search would start and end with siebert outdoors jigs. They are a sponsor on the right and mike can get you started with unlimited color options at very low price plus he has the right stuff as far as trailers and jig designs for every situation just drop him an e-mail or call him. Great guy very passionate about fishing. I think he is working on some jig kits with ready to go spread of lures. You will not find jigs anywhere close to the quality for the price
  20. Lucky lady 3" red and black twitch worms run wacky on 1\32 slant head or weightless. Small presentation that kills even when the fish have lockjaw
  21. Fun lure to throw but also nerve racking cause you tend to hang it up on deeper structure. I like it in California mountain lakes where its mostly open water with fish stacking in the water column on giant granite boulders the size of a house. But in Midwest lakes and streams with limbs and root wads it makes me want to pack my snorkel and facemask to save such pricey lures. I don't know why JDM stuff has to be so expensive would be a regular standby for me if it was in the $5-7 price point. And again throwing it on 5-7lb. Line keeps you on your toes
  22. Aruku shad in perch fished on meter marks on transitional shelf's in 20+ foot of water fished yo yo to slow winds.
  23. I used the spinbait 80 a lot last year great bait. I'm not sure which duo your referring to but the 80 is a great lure in ayu color fished painfully slow.
  24. I just used some yesterday with owner screw lock 1/16 oz weighted hooks. Caught a couple bass but The roboworms were too good to put down. I think the small pit boss are going kill it for my small stream small mouth fishing
  25. Bold bluegill roboworm on a shakey head 1\16 on 6lb fluoro they don't hit that its time to pack up the rods
