  1. They look like something a kid would design but I have caught a TON of fish on the Mepps Comet Mino's. In fact, it's the lure that got me going in bass fishing a bunch of years ago. I was a standard hook and bobber guy until I found one in a parking lot. I tied it on and gave it a try. Boom! 2 lb'er. Immediately hooked. Don't throw them that often but they are still in rotation and they do come out occasionally.
  2. Yes.....all the time. Texas. I don't peg the bullet weight right up to the bait. I use a bobber stop a few inches up the line, then the weight and then a chrome or gold bead, followed by a faceted clear glass bead, then the bait. This is my standard set up for a lot of different soft baits. Or I stupid rig them. I VERY rarely use a standard tube jig. Too many hang ups in the lakes I fish.
  3. Best value in all of fishing right here....... Plus, you get the added bonus of knowing that you will put the hook on wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME. Keeps you humble.
  4. Welcome to the dark side. We have better cookies! What the hell do you fish with, then? Lol
  5. Until the frog bite really takes off, I'd say about 85% of all the bass I catch are on a weightless T-rigged Senko. I use other methods and enjoy them but when I just want to catch fish and I am on shallow stump-filled flats, it don't get much better than that
  6. Most of my new plastic baits get a drop or two of Anise in the bag to "marinate" and then I pretty much always dunk a tip into some JJ's
  7. To me, a popper is about ruckus. I genuinely do not think color matters and I certainly don't think PRICE matters. A Rebel Pop-R or Hula Popper works as good as anything else. You wanna walk the dog, get a Spook.
  8. This is the one you want. Every time I pick mine up and launch a frog across a big mat and then horse a big girl out of that mat, I'm amazed I own something as nice as this rod
  9. Go back to Walmart and got to the crafts section. You can find glass and metal beads of all types for less than a dollar. I have more than enough beads and such for the rest of my life and I guarantee I didn't spend 5 bucks total
  10. My standard rig.....Bobber stopper 2 or 3 inches above hook. Bullet weight, metal bead, glass bead, hook. Works good makes some good noise. Catches fish.
  11. Netbait used to make one called the BK Tube. They had a color called "Lou's Special" that was as close to a sure thing as I've ever found. I have literally ONE left and it's being saved for the most desperate of desperate days.
  12. Jigs. Jigs. Jigs. Jigs. Got a whole box of the old school Northstar Jigs that I bought from Chris IN PERSON. I want to love them. I want to "get it", but I just can't. I can't catch a d**n thing on a jig and have all but given up.
  13. Stupid or Texas rig em with a pegged weight and drop em down the sides of standing timber
  14. I wear clothes when I fish. I don't go in the buff. I'd be afraid of "snagging"
  15. I've never been in a DSG store that didn't have one. With that said, I always take it home and cut it up into little pieces before discarding
  16. The one that feels best in your hand and does what you need/want it to do.
  17. I got a plug knocker but if you saw the lake I fish most of the time you would understand. It's 90 acres of stumps and lay downs. I do throw cranks in area I can but I get snagged all the time and get back maybe 50-60% of them. Part of the cost of doing business in this little lake but ooooowweeeeee the fishing be good.
  18. Are you breaking or coming untied? What knots are you using?
  19. I like it but as soon as I saw the Megabass name I knew it wouldn't be cheap and I was right! I'd have a tough time losing that puppy, which I KNOW I would.
  20. I do. In my world they are COMPLETELY different things.
  21. Diawa Silvercast is a VERY nice spincast reel for around 30 bucks. I still toss mine occasionally at a local park
  22. It is and I like it. I can walk a spook like a champ and I am deadly accurate with my casts. I don't do a TON of top water but when I do, it fits the bill very nicely. I should say, although it should be obvious, that this is NOT used for Whopper Ploppers or froggin. Those techniques get their own, VEEEEEERY different, rod.
