Can't get hookset on senko!?
I too would recommend downsizing your hook. I use the good old 3/0 Gammy EWG offset for pretty much every size Senko and it can't be beat. Occasionally, I will use a bigger hook if I expect to use something else a little bigger after the Senko and I can tell the difference on the Senko. Nothing about it feels right.

"Small Ball" fishing
So today, I went out to my favorite haunt and was determined to mix things up a bit. I decided to slow things WAAAAAY down and do what I call "small ball" fishing. Basically head out into the stump flats. About 1/3 of the little lake I fish. Lots of stumps, laydowns, brush, etc, and toss a weightless stick bait on 3/0 Gammy hook and let it flutter down amongst the sticks, stumps, and weeds. Fishing d**n near vertical in most places. ABSOLUTELY TORE IT UP. One of the best days I've had in a good long time. Most everything was working but I had the best luck on a Bizzbait Icicle with the tip dipped in JJ's Charteuse.. Took patience and was NOT how I'm used to fishing plus lost a ton of hooks and such but holy cow.......definitely worth it.

Most Durable Spincast Reel for Young Kids
Well....we just debated this not too long ago but there is THIS. https://www.amazon.com/Zebco-ZB310BX3-Bullet-Spincast-Reel/dp/B01N5ISGFM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504721616&sr=8-1&keywords=zebco+bullet Personally, I'd go with Diawa Silvercast. Terrific Spincaster for around 30 bucks

what you remains to know about bass fishing?
Well....this is stupid, I guess, but I learnt me something just today. I've always seen everybody talk about Green Pumpkin Senko's. I've always thought this was silly for where I fish most of the time because they're almost exactly the same color as the water. How can a fish see that? So I've always used white dipped in JJ's or Bubblegum or Morning Dawn or something like that. Always did pretty well with all that stuff. Until today. NOTHING was working. I found one...literally ONE.....green pumpkin Senko in my plastics bag that musta spilled out before I took that pack outta my bag. I thought WTH and tied it on. Dipped just a little tiny bit of the taper in JJ's and HOLY CRAP. Started out with one 6" Senk and finished with a 2" Senko that was just ripped to shreds. Ok.....I get it now. That GP bag will be going back into the lineup fast!

What's Your Nemesis?
My own head and pitching. Can't pitch for the life of me with a baitcaster. Luckily, I don't really care all the much. My own head when frustration kicks in. I start fishing too fast and start thinking again. It's only when I'm relaxed, not thinking, and "in the zone" do I do prety well

Lightning while fishing?
If I see lightning or hear thunder..no matter how far away.....I get off and away from the water ASAP. Just fishing.......

Fishing just for fun?
Fishing is church to me. It is my time for reflection, relaxation and for fun. Whether I'm on the water or just messing with my gear. I don't own electronics although I'm in the process of building an old jon boat into a bass boat so that will probably change. I can guarantee it won't be the latest and greatest, though. I don't take pictures...I don't own a gopro. My phone stays in the truck. I rarely fish with another person and although I do have friends I enjoy being with, I prefer to fish alone. The first hour or so on the water I fish angry. What I mean by that is I'm excited to be there...I've got other thoughts going through my head. I cast somewhat haphazardly and fish waaay too fast. About an hour in, my mind clears and I slow down. My lure choices are dialed in, my retrieves are slower and more deliberate. My casts are more accurate. My brain shuts off and I'm just reacting in an experienced way. I get more out of a day of that then most people get out of a month of therapy. When I'm in my little bass raider and the sun is coming over the horizon and the world is quiet, all is right in my world. That is why I fish. The second I added competition to that, it would be a job.

The cost of lures?..
I once saw a Flambeau single tray tackle box that you can pick up anywhere for 10 bucks on Ebay for $128. It did NOT have a bunch of lures in it. It boasted that it was brand new and "Virgin Plastic". LOL!

Have you guys seen this thing?
This. Before I started using a BC I used Silvercast Spincasters. They are terrific reels

Is anyone going to specifically fish the solar eclipse?
I'm smack in the middle of totality and I've been planning the outing for 2 years. I will be on the water.

So .. How much weight do you need to get your target depth?
I am in my 4th year of boat fishing I think I am FINALLY slowing down enough. I rarely use anything over 1/4 oz bullet weight. My typical set up is as follows.....Bobber stop, gold or silver metal bead, glass bead, hook. Usually a couple of inches between stop and hook to let the bullet and beads have some nice *click*.

Have you guys seen this thing?
I couldn't possibly care any less what people think about the gear I use nor do I discount a person using a Zebco. I've had many, MANY people ask me about what kind of gear to get and 9 times out of 10 I'm talking to someone that is, at best, an occasional weekend warrior. I always tell them to spend a few bucks and get a decent Zebco or Daiwa Spincaster. But $100 for a Spincaster that weighs 13.4 oz. Let me say that again........13.4 oz. I would not want to throw 300 or 400 hundred times in the course of a day. I think my heaviest reel weighs a little over half that. I'm SURE it's a great reel. Just not for someone that is gonna be out for 10 hours like a lot of us on here are. But.....I would like to give it a toss! p.s. I've got an Old Tru Temper Uni Spin that I LOVE to take out and fish with occasionally. Caught many panfish and a few bass with it. NOT a gear snob.

Trimming legs on hollow body frogs?
I NEVER trim legs but then I never "walk" frogs. Where I usually throw frogs there is nowhere to walk and color doesn't matter. On the rare occasion I do hit a little pocket of open water...could be the size of a quarter....I just make the frog quiver. I also never throw frogs on things like lily pads. I'd rather throw a Senko to let fall down in holes.

Perfect set up for weightless/low weight plastics
My weightless T-rig plastics set up is a Pflueger President 6930 on a 6'0 Shimano Sellus Medium rod with 8 lb Seaguar Rd label. Never had any trouble with that fluoro on that set up. You could easily downsize to a 6925 on that set up. It's an inexpensive set up, well balanced and works just fine for what I use it for. Mostly weightless t-rig stuff but also sees action as Ned rig and other finesse type stuff. Even though I don't use spinning gear all that much, I am deadly accurate with my casts with the set up, too.

The best/most exciting moment in fishing?
I love froggin in the nastiest muck possible. My favorite thing is to see and hear the "toilet flush" of a truly big fish (6 lb or better) inhale your bait. The big don't usually blow up all that much. That moment of time between hearing/seeing that and setting the hook is d**n near impossible but when you drive it home....THE FIGHT IS ON! A lot (most) of the time, I am throwing into some seriously gnarly stuff. Stumps, lay downs, THICK vegetation, and I have to get that fish outta there fast but will usually have to steer it around and over a bunch of stuff. When I can boat a truly big fish after a fight like that is when I'm deeply satisfied. Then I turn her loose to fight another day!

Have you guys seen this thing?
I saw this thing in the Bass Pro catalog and my first though was "Why"? I just don't see the market for this. I'm sure it's a GREAT reel but if you're gonna drop that kinda coin on a reel, it probably means you're fairly serious fisherman and have probably moved past the Zebco phase. Not dissin it......just don't see the market for it. I guess the ned rig thing makes sense but my President does that for less money and I guarantee it's lighter

Can I modify this lure to make it weedless?
Uhm......don't throw it there. Lures are not all purpose. I couldn't imagine how you could make a treble hooked lure weedless unless you could somehow modify it to look like this...

Found rod 5 foot 6 inch
I use an old 5'6" pistol grip Diawa (I think) as a top water rod. Works very nice for that application.
