  1. I was unaware there was a mystery
  2. Even if it's a money issue, you will be much happier with new line. Get some Big game for a few bucks, spool it up, go fish. Less than 10 bucks and you ain't worried about your line snapping due to age or having so much memory that it's impossible to use
  3. My favorite reel in my arsenal is a 7 year old PQ. It's all beat up and looks like hell but it will launch a lure and is smooth as butter. I keep it clean and properly greased. Built like a tank.
  4. As I get more experienced I can answer the question, "Does that look "bassy"? more accurately. THAT is time on the water.
  5. Well...I guess others will have to weigh in. Hopefully someone has both. I DO love my Tat froggin rod, though, and a few others on here are pretty passionate about that rod. It will absolutely LAUNCH a frog and it has the backbone to drag em outta the slop. Plus, it's very light and just a pleasure to throw all day. I do a LOT of froggin in heavy slop and this rod is amazing. ESPECIALLY for the price..but do hear about the Dobyn's too
  6. Obviously the wrong one! I was looking at the Champion Series. NOT the Fury. My bad!
  7. I have that Tat rod and I can't imagine a BETTER froggin rod. Not saying the Dobyn's isn't better but that Tat rod is the shiznizzy. I would be willing to bet you could find a LOT cheaper than on Amazon though. Even with points. You could get the Tat elsewhere, buy the Dobyns with your points and sell the one you like least or just have 2 great rods Actually...I just looked up the Tat rod on Amazon and see it's on sale. That's a pretty good price And now I looked up the Dob. You will never convince me that Dob is over a hundred bucks better. I'm sure it's a nice rod but THAT much better? I just can't see how......
  8. Learn them both and tie the one you like.
  9. What the hell is "knot wars"? Geez Louise....you asked, we told you. If you're worried about whatever the hell you saw on the intertubes, learn how to tie whatever they are telling you and be done with it. I've never had an Alberto fail. Period. It's easy to tie and works. Is it the best? For me, yes. For you? Don't know, don't care.
  10. I frog in some serious slop and have never felt the need to go above 40lb and have confidently used 30.
  11. I read $22 Tatula Frog Rod and thought.."I'll buy every one of them"
  12. Jaderose replied to Wurming67's topic in Fishing Tackle
Stikos work really nice and are much cheaper. About the only thing I buy at BPS anymore. I usually get about $50 worth of gift cards every year and that stocks me up on the stikos
  13. Bought a spool of Mega8. Used it all last year for frogging. Do NOT like it. Won't use it again. Did not have confidence in the knots and seemed to lose some casting difference as compared to Power Pro
  14. I would think that rod would be great for "weightless" Senko's which, by the way, weigh about 3/8 oz rigged. I typically throw them on an old BPS Extreme 6'6" MH. That's like throwing them on a broom handle. In fact, I'm liking the looks of this rod and may grab one!
  15. I respectfully disagree with this. My Frog Rod is my highest dollar rod and also my longest and heaviest with the most back bone. I throw a frog deep into some pretty gnarly areas and a lot of times I'm "steering* those bass outta there. I want a darn good rod with darn fast reel.
  16. It's pitiful. I suppose you could find some stuff at the stores (the storage boxes for example) but I don't see anything on line that trips my trigger. I've pretty much given up on BPS
  17. This. Did it. Reel grew many afro's. Stopped doing it.
  18. There are many jokes that can be made here. I will refrain.
  19. I get it and I don't know the answer. I've just found that if it doesn't feel right in my hand, I won't use it. I was going to buy an Antares reel last year without ever holding one. Decided to wait until I could get my hands on one. HATED the way it felt in my hand. Beautiful reel, top of the line, would have bounced around in my boat untouched. Same thing, different outcome on my frog rod. Was gonna spend a ton on one. Didn't even consider a Diawa Tatula Rod....until I held one and it felt like an extension of my central nervous system. LOVE that rod and paid half what my budget was for a frog rod. It's not how much you spend....it's how it feels to you
  20. Have you touched any of them? If the answer is no, then don't buy ANY of them. I've purchased exactly one rod that I didn't touch before hand and it's now my most expensive and least used in my arsenal. I use it and don't hate it but I don't love it either. A rod should feel like an extension of your body.
  21. The only place speed matter to me is froggin. I didn't believe that for the longest time and was happy using a 6.3:1 until the day I lost what would have been my personal best because I couldn't take up slack fast enough. Currently using an 7 something and seriously looking at the KastKing Speed demon. I want those big girls SKIING outta that slop
