  1. Traps and one I can't mention because it is discontinued and I've been quietly cornering the market on them on the 'bay.

A fisherman (or woman) is a fisherman to me. I steer clear and expect the same courtesy. If I'm working a shoreline and hit upon a hot spot that I'm focusing on, I would expect someone behind me to to give a wide berth as they go around. I would prefer they not fall in in front of me and work the shoreline ahead of me in the direction I am working but I don't think anything about if they do. I do the same for others. It's simply about respect and enjoyment on the water for all. With all that said, I've never been on a lake with a pro tournament going on. I suspect I'd just stay off of it and let the pro's work.
  3. Scumfrog Trophy Series in Natural Black and Green. Learn it...know it...live it......
  4. Oddly enough, I've kinda given up on Lowes and it's even sorta fishing related. Been putting a floor in an old 16' jon boat I have and wanted to get it good and sealed up. Went to Lowes and bought some Olympia sealant/stain. Wasn't even concerned about the color until I realized that I could actually pick a color...lol. I chose a color called Amaretto. Kind of a reddish brown. Thought it might look ok with the green of the boat. Kid mixed up it up while I wandered around a little. When I picked it up, I noticed that there was no color daub on top of the can like there pretty much always is and the kid seemed in a pretty big hurry to get rid of me. Get the stuff home and it's pink...and I don't mean a little. I took it back and just made them dump a bunch of brown in it and now it's only SORTA pink. I'm just gonna paint over it. I know I could demand my money back and all but I just don't care that much about it. With that said, that kid knew he screwed up and tried to hide it. I do not appreciate that.
  5. ooooohhhhh. Me likey
  6. I wouldn't disagree with this but I would also throw in this one.... This one...... this one...... and finally this one....blue or black back...makes no difference to me..... I've got others in all colors, brands and sizes but 99.99% these are what I throw.
  7. I've caught a lot of fish on Lazy Ikes and Whopper Stopper Hellbenders. As far as flavor of the month....look at pretty much any top water type lure that has come out in the last few years. They all do the same thing that Spooks, Pop-R's, Lunker Lure buzzbaits, Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, Devil Horse's and Snag Proof Frogs do. Create a ruckus on the surface. The new ones might be easier to use (less skill involved) and look prettier...they sure as hell cost a lot more... but you will never convince me that I am guaranteed to catch more fish with a Whopper Plopper than a Jitterbug. That a $50 Megabass with a harmonicly balanced, perfectly calibrated this and that will work better than a Spook or Pop-R. Not really saying anything against them. We like what we like and have our own confidence baits....I just believe that a bass is a primitive animal that does not care what kind of paint job a lure has or how much you paid for it. It's about right bait at the right time for the conditions you are fishing...not how much money you paid for or how new the lure is on the end of your line. With all that said...I like the bait monkey, too! Just a lot less as I've progressed in this sport.
  8. I won't argue against almost anything that anyone on here suggests because there are so many quality reels in that price range. With that said, my first was a BPS Pro Qualifier. I have several of them and other higher end reels now but that original PQ that I bought all those years ago is STILL my favorite reel in my whole arsenal. Not only is it still kicking, it's actually better now that it's been beat up, loosened up, cleaned up, and correctly lubricated. It's an amazing reel...especially when you consider that I paid around 70 bucks for it
  9. I have these. The Split ring part of it is close to useless. The cutter snips braid like butter. The Boomerang likes a like a good deal, too.
  10. Everyone is comparing it to the dancing eel. The question is.......How many of us bought one? I know I got at least one around somewhere
  11. I understand this and do the same. The way I read what a lot of guys are asking (maybe incorrectly, of course) is how do you walk a frog like you were walking a spook? Like they are using them in open water. Not saying I haven't had blow ups in open water with a HBF but it was completely by accident. There are just better options for open water in my opinion
  12. I don't understand the idea of wanting to "walk" a hollow body frog. To me, these baits are for use in heavy slop. They require a heavy rod, heavy braid, and no finesse. Drag them across the top of the slop with starts and stops, making as much ruckus as you can. Anything that would require a walking bait is not a froggin situation. Just my .02
  13. ^^This^^ All of this! Color of braid is up to you. It will all fade anyway and when it does it still won't make a difference. Use the leader if it gives you confidence or you break off a lot or you need the abrasion resistance.
  14. Anyone tried it? I don't usually get too excited with the latest and greatest but I gotta admit that I like the looks of this thing. Kind of a cross between Spinner bait a jig and a Lipless crank. Whadda ya think? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-YOZURIBAITS.html?from=basres
  15. Can't go wrong with a President Spinner. I can afford more money but will never be convinced I'd be getting "better". As far as baitcasters, ask blubasser. He seems to love his and has pretty much talked me into buying one when the need for another BC arises
  16. ^^This^^. Technically, you can tie a frog on fluoro and cast it and retrieve it.....but you'll regret it the first time you get a good hookset in heavy slop. Braid, braid braid. At least 30lb....preferably 50-65. You'll thank us
  17. Yep.....another natural part of my casting motion. It just happens
  18. Hand switcher with both types of reels. It is a natural part of my cast and happens before the lure hits the water. I can flip and pitch with my left so that's covered too. Do what feels right to you...there IS NO RIGHT WAY.
  19. Yep...make it part of your casting motion. Manually close it
  20. Get Power Pro and be done with it
  21. What Catt said......because I like them. Don't like them? Don't use them.
  22. Yep....I see fun here. Frogs....
  23. So......wait......you're saying that if I go where fish ARE I will catch fish? I wish someone had told me this sooner!
