  1. The smile says it all. Rock on, little man
  2. As long as your family comes first, you are fine. Don't spend money you don't have on tackle and time your family needs by yourself. Beyond that, welcome to the bass obsession
  3. I love the idea of the speed clip. I hate actually using them.
  4. Ok....anyone do this with a manual transmission? I have a 1968 Ford F100 that I want to use to pull my 16 ft Jon boat but haven't done it yet because I'm afraid it will be "too Exciting". Any pointers?
  5. I'm considering one for a froggin rod. Froggin (at least the way I do it) is about as far from finesse as you can get and is mostly based on sight and is rough as heck on equipment. I found a 7" something Heavy Ugly Stick at Walmart the other day and I'm thinking about getting it for this. If that happens it will wind up being one my heaviest use rods in the summer
  6. Get a President and spend the rest on a good rod. Boom! Done
  7. Nope and never will
  8. I don't but they would work great
  9. For 90% of what I throw, I use a Gammy 3/0 offset EWG with 2 glass beads and 1/8 oz worm weight bobberstopped about 1/2" above the weight. This gives the beads and weight a little travel and makes a nice little clicking noise. Works for me!
  10. Megastrike is fine on Elaztech. The dyes? NO!!
  11. I use 12 lb Stren FluoroCast with 30 lb Power Pro for this exact reason. Works like a champ
  12. I've never taken a picture of a fish I've caught. I have ZERO confidence in jigs.
  13. Fill half your spool with cheap mono and the other half with 45 lb Power Pro and don't look back. If you want to use a leader for something other than frogging...do. I use Stren Fluorocast as a cheap leader. Never had issue with it
  14. I still throw (and catch fish on) Lazy Ikes, Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers, too.
  15. The plastic worm in all it's various forms is number one. But no love for Bill Lewis and his lures he sold out of his old Ford Station Wagon...aka.....The Rattle Trap?
  16. ^^THIS^^ The only thing I would change is the line. Go 45 lb Power Pro. I like Slick but it's not necessary. You will have a froggin combo that will serve you very well for several years. As for the frogs....the Pad Crasher is good...most of them are good but you want some serious bang for your buck, there is only one choice........Scumfrog Trophy Series. My FAVORITE frog, regardless of price. It happens to be one of the cheapest. Get this one.......
  17. I have a tendency to be a sloppy fisherman.
  18. In theory, great idea......in reality, these things would be all over my boat and my stuff would be tangled again
  19. Whichever one untangles first from the mess that is my lipless box.
  20. This....because I would have to assume that the zombie apocalypse had happened and I was fishing for food.
  21. Of course! But I think "gut feeling" is experience. I find the longer I fish, the more I can find areas that "just look bassy" and have them pan out. I was frogging last year and I happened to notice 2 small logs laying half in the water and half on the bank angled away from each other so they formed a little pocket right at the shoreline. I saw it and I knew......there was a big girl there. I was right at the very edge of my casting range. I let one fly and plopped right in the middle of that pocket. The fight was on immediately. A nice 6 lber. I was all over this particular area that day and was having lots of success but when I saw that pocket, my Gut told me THAT was where the big one was. I was right.
  22. Nope.....don't even carry my phone in the boat. Never taken a picture of any fish I've ever caught.
  23. Sorta what I do. I do use braid but I also use a Flouro "leader" of about 20 ft. This is mostly because I fish a lake with a LOT of submerged timber that is also pretty clear. I get the clarity of flouro but can also break it off if I need to.
  24. Yep...apparently I will NOT be getting a new PQ
