  1. They've been in your backyard and you didn't notice them? Maybe you need a dog.
  2. Never had a regular ol Palomar fail and I frog in HEAVY slop.
  3. There ya go!
  4. Those hurt, yes, but you were fishing and doing well. You'll live and if you happened to be getting a little bored with fishing (it happens) I bet you aren't now.
  5. Jigs. I've caught fish on them, yes, but few and far between and I have ZERO confidence in them. I don't know why. I KNOW they catch fish and a lot of them but just not for me yet. I know it will just *click" for me some day but that day isn't here yet
  6. You want to walk a frog? Well, my friend, have I got a solution for you! Get yourself a Booyah Poppin Pad Crasher and cut the legs OFF. And I mean OFF, not just short. Cut them close and then pull them out Throw that into whatever you are throwing your frog at (with the exception of heavy mats....you ain't gonna or need to walk there). That stupid little modification raises all kinds of ruckus. It'll pop and splash and roll around. You can walk it in place. AND it's Obviously weedless. I was just out this morning fishing chocolate milk and knew I needed to raise a fuss so I tied one of those on. I caught a couple of very nice girls on a day when I most likely would have gotten skunked
  7. H&H Spinnerbaits. Bought a whole bunch of them a few years back and paid less than a buck each for them. Catch a LOT of bass on them and losing them is no big deal.
  8. I use 50 lb braid on my frog rod. But I also use a small section of 16-20lb leader. Like 6" to 1'. I know I can break that leader way easier than that braid if I get caught or snagged on something after a bomber cast and I have no way of going in after it. Saved a TON of line staying in the water for a critter to get tangled in. The waters I fish have no pleasure boaters or jet skis so no worries there. I've also gotten deadly accurate with my casts on the frog so that helps but occasionally I'll uncork one that as soon as it leaves the rod, I know I'm screwed....lol
  9. I was given a cheaper Quantum BC a few years ago. I threw it on an old Abu 5'6" rod I had laying around and use it as my spook rod. Will cast a mile and works like a champ. Here in a week or two it will join my regular rotation just like it does every summer. It's caught me a lot of fish so I have no complaints and the price was right!
  10. Yep. A white senko is like a blank canvas with JJ's or even just a sharpie. Dip the tip or put some dots or swirls all over it and it becomes another tool in the arsenal. Something unique that the bass haven't seen before
  11. Fulcrums? Archimedes? Here's an idea...do you think it's fun to use that rod and have you successfully caught fish with it? Then have fun and catch some fish!
  12. You could have said this was a used reel. Just sayin.......
  13. Those are the best days ever
  14. All my BC's are 6.3 except my frog which is 7.5. Work just fine
  15. I used to be a chef. I made my living cooking for others. I am/was very good at it. I own a few very well made pans, some very well made knives, and a few specialty tools. I do not own an air fryer, instapot, or have cabinets full of crap that do one thing only. A "real" chef doesn't need (or want) any of that stuff. A real chef requires a camp fire, a cast iron skillet, good ingredients and, above all, knowledge. Give him (or her) those things and you'll have the meal of a lifetime. I see fishing as no different. We need basic tools and above all else, knowledge and experience. I'm not a great bass fisherman but I AM a bass fisherman. I don't have 10's of thousands of dollars worth of stuff but what I DO have is the best I can afford and I know how (or am learning) to use it. Good enough for me and where I want to be with this hobby. Like Catt, I've never taken a selfie with a fish. I've never worried about any kind of record and I sure as hell will never make money fishing. I don't want to. Then it would be a job and that would defeat the purpose of it for me.
  16. Well....I don't hate it THAT much
  17. Hate to be the THAT GUY but the day I worry about re-using bobber stops is the day I realize I can't afford to bass fish.
  18. The only reason I would ever use a leader with a frog is if I WANTED to lose fish for some reason
  19. Either one of those rods will work..... especially if you aren't fishing heavy slop. You'll want 50 lb braid and as fast a reel as you can put on it. The hardest part of frog fishing is the timing. I consider myself a good to very good frogger and I've spent 1000's of hours doing it over the course of a decade or so. Every single year, my timing is off at the beginning of the season. Not to mention that every fish is different.
  20. Make your own......I've done this and it's easy, fun and works great. I was throwing one today
  21. Went out today. Overcast, little rainy no wind, water temps been up and down, but I watched the video Glenn made on toads a few days ago and thought that this might be a good day to bust them out. Haven't thrown a toad in years. Wow....was it ever! Went back into a cove that finally dwindles down a wide stream and just started picking them off. Had a GREAT day when most around here have seen very poor fishing. THANKS GLENN!
  22. Like anything else, it's a confidence thing. Do I think it works, therefore I use it? Yes. Do I believe it's absolutely necessary to use to catch fish? Nope.
  23. Megastrike is great mustache wax!
  24. Eeewwwwww...did you suffer this for a few days? Lol.....
