  1. *Sigh* I hate threads like this. Not because it's a bad subject or anything (it isn't), but because it means that winter doldrums are setting in.
  2. Wow. What a fun site.
  3. That's when I'd go weird. I completely agree with almost everything above so after none of it worked, I would wacky rig a dark senko and drop it right down in the middle of all that and let it fall through it. Would it work? I dunno but it would be different from everything else going on around it.
  4. The bottom of my boat is littered with bit off worm tips. I'll bite em down until they just won't stay on the hook anymore or are simply gone. I'm not cheap, per se, but they keep catching fish, so why not?
  5. Yep...bubble gum is a staple in my arsenal.
  6. Bummer Mine locks down. I thought they all did.
  7. Were you running with your TM deployed?
  8. Someone mentioned the most important thing...POLARIZED GLASSES. You must have these. My home lake is full of stumps. Putting on my glasses is almost like a magic trick. Where there was nothing is now FULL of stumps
  9. If only there was some way to search for information electronically........Oh, wait....... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dobyns_Fury_Casting_Rods/descpage-DFC.html
  10. I have found Stik-o's to be as good as Senko's. Those and tubes are abut the only thing I buy at BPS anymore
  11. This......my next trip out will include Comet Minno's
  12. I was getting ready to Google "Tokyo Rig" and then realized I didn't care...lol
  13. The only ones I DON'T crimp the barbs down on are frogs. I buried a Rat-L-Trap treble in my thumb up to the bend a few years ago (with the very mad bass still on the OTHER treble) and it wasn't fun. It's also simply easier to release fish from a crimped barb hook. I don't think my hook up rate has suffered at all.
  14. I bet your hookup rate sucks!
  15. You can't go wrong. My 7'3" Tat (3 or 4 years old now...can't remember) is my hands down favorite rod. Light and can chuck a frog a mile. Has the backbone to pull em out of the deepest slop. Just a joy to fish with
  16. I dunno but a PB&J Brush Hog on a swing head dropped around brush piles works like a champ for me, too
  17. Well....there you go....lol
  18. I'm not advocating for or against music while fishing. It's just not for me. Hell, one of my other hobbies is refurbing old stereo equipment AND I'm working on a putting together a weekly radio show to air on a local radio station so it's not like I dislike music....lol. My GARAGE stereo system is better than most people will ever have in their homes
  19. To this day if I'm throwing a spinner bait, chances are pretty good it's an H&H.
  20. Fishing for me is about waaaaay more than catching fish. It's about a disconnect from the modern world. I carry no cell phone, no camera. The boat I fish from most of the time has no electronics of any kind with the exception of a trolling motor. The lake I fish has no pleasure boaters. 70% of the time, I'm the only boat on the lake. I need that disconnect. My soundtrack is nature. I went with a buddy one time that insisted on playing music and was miserable. I couldn't get into the head space I like to be in to fish. I'm not really thinking, I'm just reacting to my surroundings and conditions. Relying on experience and muscle memory. That's a good place
  21. All I know is the bottom of my boat is strewn with bit-off Senko tips.
  22. I do have a lucky hat that I always wear fishing and have gone back for it if I forget it. (Happened once). I think it's held together with sweat and slime at this point. I'm guessing it will require a burial at sea next season. I gotta figure out how to transfer it's mojo to a new hat. It is actually disconcerting to me that it is on it's last legs, which I know is silly but still...... I have one like this. I always use an anti-slip glove on my left hand because my grip strength is not great from some nerve damage and because I don't want to submit a fish to sunscreen. I NEVER put it on when I first go out. It doesn't go on until the first fish is in the boat.
  23. I guess my response to this thread is that some people need more to do.......?
  24. My wife would rather do almost anything else than go sit in a boat and sweat all day. With that said, I think she enjoys the days I take off and am gone for 8-10 hours in my boat all day. She certainly doesn't care. She knows where I'm at.
  25. Double digit LMB (close but no cigar) and never fly fished. It scares the crap outta me. Afraid I'll like it too much. I got enough money wrapped in bass gear. Fly gear is REAL money.
