  1. I also used the veritas winch with a revo winch. Since I'm downsizing I had to let it go. Wright n McGill made a Rick clunn series for fairly cheap it was big and heavy but handled every dd crank I threw.
  2. I'm a moderate taper guy but one manufacturers moderate is different from another's
  3. I just use a pair of cheap braided scissors from cabelas. 2 years now and they still cut braid like butter
  4. I mostly throw the sk sexy dawg or Sammy. Both pretty easy to use
  5. I trim the skirts so they don't impede my trailers action. Weed guards I trim a few strands at the root when I notice my hook up isn't as good
  6. I own 3 older tp and love them. Got to try out a tournament pro g for a few days, the breaking system is great if you like to change lures often no more opening up side plate(tough I rarely do so on the tp models just kept one break pin engaged most of the time) didn't notice much difference on distance. My tp was more accurate when doing short roll cast but that's because of the ceramic bearings. Overall I think it's a sweet reel especially when you can find it on sale for around 150 a lot of times.
  7. I use snap swivels on inline spinners, spoons, bladebaits. Everything else is direct tie. I did experiment once with speed clips had two lipless crankbaits fly off on me....
  8. If the hydrilla isn't up to the surface a swim jig could be killer. I like crawling a big worm around that stuff to. Remember to use a rod that can handle pulling all that grass in with the fish.
  9. Well did you get it Sunday? I remember getting stuff off amazon and it got delivered on a Sunday, forgot who the delivery service was.

The sk 1.5 black n chartreuse for some reason this works for me in clear and dirty water. The arashi produce for me to.
  11. I'm in the same boat as you. Went and got a prescription for contact lenses.
  12. I just ignore them and move on. Never know what people will do now. Don't feel like getting shot or shooting someone....
  13. Also check your line guides and make sure they aren't groved or have sharp edges
  14. More gammys from wally world picked up 4 packs. Wished they were black nickel I would of bought all of them.
  15. I hope it wasn't salt water. I don't have that reel but I usually find the schematics, break down, clean and relube then put it back together. If your not comfortable get in touch with Abu or a reel service personnel.
  16. Welcome to the forums! Tough I can't answer all your questions ill try one or two. Weights are used commonly in with lures especially soft plastics as they tend to be to light for most baitcasters to handle alone. Your most common rig is the Texas rig which involves a bullet weight in front of the hook. A couple great lures for fishing mid depth are spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and lipless crankbaits. If you feel like your lure isn't hitting the depth you want or your having to burn it back so it doesn't snagg you can use a heavier or lighter lure. General rule of thumb for choosing colors. In clear water you want something natural that mimics bait fish. In dirty water your brighter/darker colors show up better. Hope that helps you a little bit.
  17. Pull the tag line first. For knots like clinched and improved clinched move your knot down first be for pulling the tag end.
  18. found some old calipers did some measuring and they were .156 id .275 od .098 wide. i think that coverts to 4x7x2.5. gonna try the cheap ones from fleabay 10 pieces for 6 bucks. thanks for the replies!
  19. probaly contact lews no idea why they dont have schematics on their website or atleast i couldnt find it on the lews site.
  20. Don't do it man, next thing you know you'll be getting a silver hawk, then an aetos. Lol that's the reason I say no when my buddies offfer me their expensive setups and say dude check this out.
  21. I have the schematics but they don't tell me the size of the bearings. Was trying to see if I can get it cheaper from another site I have 3 tournament pros and don't mind upgrading those bearings to arb since they get exposed to a lot of crud
  22. does anyone know the size of the two bearings that goes on the worm gear shaft? took my reel apart to clean and noticed one of the bearings is rusted and stuck. dont have a pair of calipers at home. thanks
