  1. Jerkbaits, flukes, topwaters, crankbaits are all good shad imitators.
  2. I have used both and prefer Sniper.
  3. I went smallie fishing the other day. I was dragging small tubes along the bottom, and I kep getting really subtle bites, so I switched to a 2" power minnow on a small jig, and caught probably 95 rock bass in short order. Then if felt a huge thump, so I swung for the fences, and ended up with a 30" muskie. The next day I went back out, caught a ton more rock bass, and another nice little muskie. You would not believe how fun it is fighting muskies on a light/moderate fast action trout rod. Ended the second day by finally getting a couple little smallies. Pretty fun couple of days.
  4. A river runs through it. Captain Phillips was exciting.
  5. A lot of guys up here rig sucker minnows for muskie that way.
  6. I haven't tried an UL avid, but the st croix trout series is awesome. No doubt that avid UL rods are great too though.
  7. Any opinions on this bait? They look nice and they don't seem too expensive either.
  8. I would recommend the 7.3:1 just because you said frogs.
  9. I catch one and relocate too. Oh, im on a school of bass, FISH ON ZZZZZZZZZ, oh I lost it, wait, I drifted off the spot, oh the trolling motor isnt working, great. Lets relocate back home... Oh and change it up, like Mike said too.
  10. If you think its a bite than stop the bait. If you feel a tick when the bait is stopped, its a bite. If the bait is smaller, the fish will take it in one gulp, so you will have to use feel on that, but with a bigger bait or around lots of smaller bass, they will grab the tail, then take the whole bait, so if you stop it, and feel the tick again, swing for it!
  11. I would also recommend a medium with a fast action.
  12. Yeah bowfin. Just a huge muscle, I wonder why people don't fish for them as much.
  13. As was mentioned in another thread a while ago, 'Its more or less a glorified lightning rod at this point'.
  14. Lovin' it! NEVER GIVE UP AAHHHHHHHHHH!
  15. I just freaked out and hit my screen.
  16. I really like my chronarch ci4 but that is the only reel I own that is considered 'high end'.
  17. Spooks and wakebaits are different lures entirely. A wakebait is pretty much a topwater squarebill, with the action built in, whereas on a spook, you need to make the action, but you can control the cadence of it too.
  18. I did end up picking it up, and I like that it will throw light baits well, but the size of it is awesome as well. Very comfortable reel.
  19. I ice fish Simcoe for perch and we see big smallies swimming aroung through the hole. Nice pigs!
  20. Weightless rigged backwards works great.
  21. I cry and ponder my existence in the world. Or I fish a wakebait over weedbeds, depends on my mood.
  22. I would highly recommend using a single octopus or circle hook instead of a treble. Gut hooked fish suck.
  23. Small topwaters, small spinnerbaits, small plastics and such.
