  1. Gambler Ugly Otter, Jackall Cover Craw and Powerbait Thief are all great punching baits.
  2. Squarebill is a good suggestion. Something like a citrus shad color should produce well.
  3. Getting skunked is a part of fishing.
  4. I want to try fishing frogs more. And yes, BR rocks!
  5. I have had some bad experiences with cheap tungsten fraying line. Buy from a brand with a good reputation, such as Siebert and NorthStar, and you shouldn't have a problem.
  6. Dragging a shaky head rigged craw over rocks, UL fishing with small cranks and spinners and punching are my favorites.
  7. I should pick one up. Holding a pencil in between your toes and a rod in your hands is difficult at times.
  8. As long as I am catching fish, I'll be happy. If not, it's the captains call if he wants to fish and see if he can put together a pattern, or let me keep fishing hoping that I will catch a fish. He is the expert, not me, so of he wants to fish he can go right ahead. Either way, I don't get as much enjoyment from catching a fish as I do seeing a fish. As long as there are fish being caught I'll be happy.
  9. 1. Steelhead 2. Chinook Salmon (in secluded small streams of course, no combat fishing for me.) 3. Rainbow Trout 4. Smallies 5. Brown trout 6. Brookies 7. Largemouth 8. Muskies 9. Lake Trout (ice fishing) 10. Walleye 1000000. Crappie. Dunno why, but I hate catching crappie.

  11. I use mostly spinning gear. There is nothing you cannot fish on spinning tackle, but some things would be better fished on a casting rod. That said I jig for muskies with a spinning rod, and I find it to be more enjoyable than using a casting rod.
  12. Those 3 pronged SK ones are pretty good. War eagle also makes some good ones.
  13. 100 for all around use, type r for a faster gear ratio, and HD for big baits like swimbaits or monster cranks.
  14. I recently tried mono and I hated it for cranking. Not enough feel for me.
  15. I see it as horizontal and vertical presentations.
  16. 3 things: First off, welcome to the forums. May I suggest posting in the 'introductions' forum. It will let us all get to know you better. Second, Shimano does not only make expensive products, they have a large entry level market as well. Finally, this thread was not about which brand was better, it was simply about someone who was curios as to why people have so many rods. That being said, welcome to BR, and good luck in your fishing.
  17. Texas weightless, twitched under the surface. Occasionally stop the retrieve and let the bait sink, a lot of bites come that way. Good luck!
