  1. So, wondering how many folks use jackplates vs. those that do not. Also: What boat do you have? 1.) Do you use a jackplate on your boat? 2.) If so, did the manufacturer, dealer, or other install it? 3.) Is it hydraulic or manual? 4.) What brand and model? 5.) Would you use a jackplate on your next boat? 6.) If you plan on putting a jackplate on your next boat would you change the brand or style such as from Bob's to Atlas and manual to hydraulic and why?
  2. I have some one Booyah Toadrunners to and they just didn't work great. The homemade ones work amazing though.
  3. I assume all that stuff links up to Talons too? Forgive me for not knowing much about the difference between the two, what are the benefits and detractors of both styles?
  4. I thought that's what the Talons where. So is Minn Kota saying the Power Pole style is superior to their Talons?
  5. I couldn't see where it said the Raptor is better than the Talon or why you would choose it over the Talon.
  6. I tried the Teckels and they didn't work well for me.
  7. Super durable. I use Booyah Padcrashers which are about $6. I've never lost one so they've lasted at least 3 years and tons of fish! Have lost a few tails though.
  8. How is the new Minn Kota Raptor Shallow Water Anchor any different than the Power Pole? Also, does the new Minn Kota Raptor basically deploying similarly to the Power Pole and not vertically like the Minn Kota Talons show that the Talons couldn't hold the boat as well as the horizontally styled Power Poles?
  9. I love the Whopper Plopper 75s and then 110s. The Berkeley Choppo works too. Problem is the lake I fish recently grew up a lot of light topwater weeds making the WPs hard to fish. Welcome the Whopper Frog!!!
  10. *** Warning *** Be careful. Each charging manufacturer is different. I called both Dual Pro and Minn Kota, I've had both their chargers and Dual Pro said leaving it connected was fine and Minn Kota said I should unplug it once its charged. Because of that I will only use Dual Pro from now on.
  11. The Berkeley Choppo has worked well for us also....and 1/2 the price.
  12. Loved the WP 110 best, tried the WP 90, didn't like it bc of above problem, found the WP 75 which supposedly corrects the problems with the WP 90 and it does. I almost exclusively use the WP 75 now.

I did not like the 90s.....bought a 75 and loved them. Almost use them exclusively now.
  14. Well, a lot of people have neither the skill nor desire to cut into their $80k boat I suppose and assume this is something that should come manufactured from the factory. I wouldn't have the tools, skills, or desire to cut into an $80k boat and would be afraid of messing it up and also potentially voiding the warranty. Obviously there was a demand for this with the rise of electric TMs and Ranger chose to meet this demand with a very functional foot pedal pan.
  15. You mean Evinrude went out of business?
  16. That's what the Honda says too someonw pointed out.
  17. Thanks guys. I won't be towing the boat with the Honda after your advice. I am planning on selling the boat and not getting another one for awhile but thought I might fish this summer one last time.
  18. Great!!!! What parts did you lube? I love my Ulterra.
  19. The family got larger and sadly I had to sell my truck for a 2020 Honda Odyssey minivan. It has a tow rating of 3,500lbs. I know that that includes weight of the passengers and gear in the vehicle also. My Stratos 186VLO boat with 115 horse Evinrude Etec weighs 2,960lbs loaded and fully gassed up (actual weight from the scale). I also know that it's not just about pulling but being able to stop and maneuver safely also. Boat trailer does not have brakes. My normal fishing spot is only 25 mins away and I can go 60 mph the entire way if I don't use the highway route. I also go on a guy's fishing trip to Mille Lacs area that is about 3 hours away too. Would it be ok to tow the boat with my minivan for both of those trips, just one, or neither?
  20. Mine started having problems deploying......would only deploy like 3" inches and then stop. I had to turn it back on to push it back in to stow it. Found out the problem was actually a bad boat breaker which was like a $7 piece. I had to take it to a shop to get it looked at though. Apparently you can test this on your own with the right tool/equipment.
  21. Thanks. Took it to a rock place. The Stratos 186VLO with 115 horse Evinrude Etec weighed 2,960lbs. on the trailer. Not far off from it's suggested 2,700lbs.
  22. Thanks. Took it to a rock place. The Stratos 186VLO with 115 horse Evinrude Etec weighed 2,960lbs. on the trailer. And it cost $5.
  23. Used them successfully for years and they are great but get chewed up quick and need to be replaced. Also not great at being weedless. Went to homemade Whopper Frogs and solved both of those problems and caught far more fish.
