  1. Thanks. I'll check it out. Ok. Are vent covers and plugs something I could find at Gander Mountain or do I need to go to a marine dealership? And are they the same size for all or do I need to find out their sizes?
  2. Don't know. I just had it tested and they gave me a sheet with a bunch of numbers on it. Would it be on their?
  3. How do I plug those holes? How many live well vents are there? Is a vent a drain? Because I think it has one that lets out water near the main drain.
  4. I just bought a used 2014 Stratos and noticed after fishing twice that there appeared to be water in the bottom of the boat. I wasn't sure if it came over from the boats when I slowed down too fast or what. So I kept the battery compartment open when put the boat in the water and immediately saw water in the bottom. The plug seemed to be tight so I don't know if it's getting past the plug or of the hole around the plug is bad. Is this something that is covered by the boats hull warranty? How do I find out exactly where the leak is? The first pic is immediately after putting it in the water. The second pic is after 5 hours of fishing. So a ton of water isn't coming in but if the boat was docked over night it could be an issue.
  5. It's a 2014 Evinrude E-Tec. I just had it inspected and they ran it through the computer and the guy didn't say anything about needing a new waterpump. I'm used to water just coming out of a small hole at velocity, but I guess with the E-Tec's larger hole, water just type of spills out, so I don't know if this is good or bad. These two videos are of it at idle and WOT. It's due for it's 1st 3 year check this fall and I was thinking about having them put in a new waterpump if it needs it. Normally I winterize my own boat, but since this one has never had anything done to it, I planned on having a marine shop do it so that if anything goes wrong it wasn't me. Figured if I needed a waterpump, now would be the time to do it. Does it need a new waterpump from these videos or is this normal?
  6. And it'll just pop apart easily most likely?
  7. I'm looking for an adjustable seat post for my Stratos. It currently has a non-adjustable height Swivel Eze 3/4" Lock 'n-pin threaded. I have a Springfield Springlock adjustable 13-1/2" to 20" on my old boat which is perfect. I see that the Swivel Eze only comes in an adjustable 15" to 18" sadly but I'd live with that. I I was wondering if the Springfield Kingpin is the same type of post as the Swivel Eze Lock 'n-Pin and if they are interchangeable and if Attwood makes one also?
  8. I found out I have this problem. I took all the screws out and it wouldn't come out. Then I found out why. They foamed it in. Anyway to still be able to remove it?
  9. Yes. Not always, but enough where I wouldn't want to take out the seat.
  10. I'd have to see if I could find one of those. I think I'll try to fix it myself and take it in as a last resort.
  11. O. Thx. That would have been cool.
  12. Thx. I saw that. It seems that the vinyl split, so re-stapling would be almost impossible. I see how you staple the inside and the flap then comes over to cover the staples.
  13. I wish I had that option. I only have one rod locker.
  14. I started a thread about my boat seat coming apart. For some reason I couldn't add pics. At the time I thought that the problem was the boat seat coming apart, upon further inspection I determined that it's actually the seats trim that is coming off, not the seat itself, which is good. This may also make it harder to re-attach. So I believe some type of glue would be better than staples in this point. Someone recommended Gorilla Glue. Just seeing if there are any other glues out there that you've had experience with and know works. Best glue to fix vinyl boat seat trim?
  15. I am now debating taking out my rod's rod locker because my spinning rod's eyes are too big to fit and I can't enlarge the openings. Wondering how many people do it and how many people don't do it. I hate changing things on my newer boat but it may make things easier to use. I do already have all of my rods in rod sleeves and use them in conjunction with the rod organizer. Do you take out the rear support also? Wondering if there are any negative effects of taking out the rod organizer? Anyone ever take out the rod organizer and then put it back in? Update: I tried to remove the rod organized today and could not. I took the screws out and tried to pull it out and it wouldn't come out. I opened up the other compartment, removed the box and took a pic. Now I know why the rod organized won't come out. Any solutions to this? Sorry, I tried flipping the photo and it didn't work. Apparently they foamed it in.
  16. So is regular car wax bad for boats or just not as effective?
  17. I read that you are only supposed to wax a fiberglass boat with special boat wax otherwise you will ruin the boat's gelcoat. I just bought a used fiberglass Stratos and the seller said that when he bought it new the dealer told him that regular car wax was fine. The seller said he used spray on/wipe off wax on the boat twice a year. Wax Fiberglass Boat - Special Boat Wax or regular Car Wax? Also, do you do anything special like heat the wax with a blowdryer or do anything special?
  18. I have 2 spots in my fiberglass boat that probably had rubber mats at one time (I am the 2nd owner) but don't know, I think these are tool cubbies. I made a mat for each and I also made a mat for my Terrova's foot pedal to protect the gelcoat. The boat used to have a Fortrex and the foot pedal was screwed down. I don't like having my foot pedal screwed down because I like to move it around. If I'm fishing the right side of my boat I move the foot pedal to the right side of the boat and vice versa. (I do have screw holes and holes were the Fortrex was mounted that I am going to fill with silicone.) I'm just wondering if this is the right kind of rubber mat or if they will move around on their own and scratch up the fiberglass even worse than not having the mats.
  19. How tight are trailer tires supposed to be? Or is it different for all boat trailers?
  20. This is b.s. though. A brand new boat shouldn't be having this problem. I have a 2000 Crestliner Fishhawk that has the same problem. I didn't realize it at first. When the 2 of the screws first came loose they only raised a little bit, unnoticeable, until I pulled my motors cowling off and laid it on the boat deck and scraped the **** out of the of the cowling. I was ticked. But it's a 14 year old boat, so it's a different story. Shouldn't be happening with a brand new boat.
