  1. What's the benefit of a 1/2 oz over a 3/8 oz?
  2. What was nothing else? Did you try a Rage Toad? I used a Rage Toad this weekend with success. I have switched to the Stanley Ribbet double take hooks and I think that has helped with the hook up ratio.
  3. I see that some people add Hot Foot Pedals to their boats and some bass boat manufacturers have them as a custom option. I was wondering if you hit big waves couldn't your foot come off of the pedal? Does anyone know if Hot Foots Pedals are worth adding?
  4. I use 40lbs Power Pro and now Sufix 832 on my rods even my frog rod. I've never had a problem. Although I'm not fishing huge pads like Florida and other places.
  5. After hearing about how good Cavitrons were I ordered two 3/8oz ones from Cabelas and had them sent to the store. Well, they didn't get here in time for my guys fishing weekend. We were able to stop at Capra's, a local mom and pop place on the way to the cabin. I picked up a 3/8oz Cavitron in chartreuse and my friend picked up two 3/8oz ones, one black and one white. Well, we got out on the lake and my friend took out his white Cavitron and when he hung it over the boat to get ready to cast the lures skirt fell into the water and sank. He's like, "So much for that great lure you had me buy!" He took it well though. I told him I had a brand new Terminator Spinnerbait once and when I opened the package the skirt fell off. He put a Powerbait minnow on the Cavitron. He cast for about 30 minutes without a bite. We didn't catch anything on any of that other lures we had either. We moved down the shore and finally started catching fish. We caught perch, bass, northerns, and rock bass on Beetlespins, Sieberts Swim Jig with Ragetail Menace trailer, Wacky Rigged Senko, and missed a few on a KVD Sexy Dawg. A Ragetail Toad and black Booyah Buzzbait with Clacker did not produce any fish. After awhile we when it got toward evening we started catching good bass on the Cavitrons. We caught 6 bass and 2 northerns on Cavitrons Buzzbaits. One black and one chartreuse. The Booyah Buzzbait did not get one hit. I was really pleased with the Cavitrons. They ran great and because of their design they are very easy to clean weeds off of. My Booyah Buzzbaits are designed differently and really hard to get weeds out of. So that is a great feature for the Cavitrons. My one problem them is durability. On my 4th bass, a 1.4lber, it was boated quickly and netted quickly, not lifted by the line putting stress on the lure. We got the fish out of the net and the Cavitron was all bent up. I was able to bend it back but I am not sure if it is in it's original shape. I wish they were more durable. Perhaps a Titanium Cavitron could be made! Either way, a great lure and I plan on buying more in the future if I need to replace these ones. I highly recommend them.
  6. What about Swimming Senkos or Strike King Swim & Shiners?
  7. I have new Siebert's swim jigs and am planning to use them this weekend. I have Ragetail Menaces, Craws, Chunks, and Bugs along with Gary Yamamoto swimming Senkos, and Strike King Swim and Shiners. Do you guys shorten these at all to use as swim jig trailers or are some the perfect size? If you have any of the specific trailers I mentioned above what do you do with them?
  8. So I ordered a Live Target Baitball Emerald Shiner Jerkbait 3.5" because I needed to make my order $100 to get $25 off. I ordered a new Ego 2 Slider clear rubber net, which is awesome btw. I've never owned a Jerkbait before. I'm assuming you cast it out, let it sink, and retrieve it by reeling it in whole giving the rod jerks. Is that right?
  9. How has that 3/8 worked for you?
  10. This happened to me too but I didn't see the fish. Maybe it was a turtle. I was using a Ragetail Toad though and let it sink. I figured it was a northern or musky.
  11. So throwing 1/2oz gets tiring because they are heavy and you have less control?
  12. I've asked this in another thread with no response. 3/8oz and 1/4oz seem to be the two most popular buzzbaits. So which one do you choose and why do you use one over the other? Moderator note: The new thread has been merged with the same topic you posted a few days ago.
  13. Why do people choose 3/8 over 1/4 or vice versa?
  14. When do you throw the 1/4 and the 3/8?
  15. So, I'm going on a fishing trip and ordered Ragetail Menace's to my house and Cavitron buzzbaits to the Cabelas in Woodbury. I ordered the Cavitrons like 2 weeks ago but it doesn't look like they'll be getting here in time. I thought 2 weeks would have been enough time. If I had had them sent to my house I probably would have gotten them. Ugh. I'm wondering if there is anywhere in MN that I could pick them up on the way up to the cabin tomorrow. I've checked Cabelas, Joe's Sporting Goods, Capra's, Fleetfarm, and Walmart. There aren't any Scheels or Sportman's Warehouses nearby, but those might of carried them. Anyone know of anyplace in central Minnesota where I could pick up some Cavitron buzzbaits tomorrow?
  16. Yep. None. Capra's too.
  17. Anyone with lockable storage get their stuff stolen?
  18. Columbia's Omnifreeze technology keeps you a few degrees cooler then the temp. It's like being in then shade. I never thought I'd like one, wear it all the time now.
  19. I haven't read anywhere where it says it has rapid fire drag?
  20. Love my Columbia Omnifreeze with SPF 30.
  21. I needed 2 spinning reels for my two new Cabelas Tournament ZX bass spinning rods (7'1" worm models). I couldn't decide on the Shimano FJ or the Ci4+. I started a thread on here and heard good things about both, some saying the Ci+4 was worth it and others saying it wasn't. I ended up getting one of each in 2500 size. I paid $186 for the Ci4+. Well, I wish I would have went with two Ci+4's. It is an incredible reel! Mind you, the FJ is a great reel but the Ci4+ seems to be a tad bit smoother and it feels amazingly lighter, in fact, it feels like it isn't on the rod! It should be known that the Tournament ZX bass spinning rods seem to feel a weight lighter then they are rated for also, so a MH actually feels like a Medium. And these rods feel amazingly light yet have enough backbone to never feel underpowered and I've caught bass up to 4lbs with them. This rod and reel combo of the Cabelas Tournament ZX bass rod and Shimano Ci4+ reel feels like a dream! A dream! I never thought you could get two components to work so well together. I am so pleased with this combo, I don't know what to say. I never thought a reel could be so nice! So if you are looking for a new reel, you'd be hard pressed to find another as good as the Shimano Ci4+. I give the Shimano Stradic Ci4+ a 10 out of 10 and the Shimano Stradic FJ a 8 out of 10. I paired my reel with Sufix 832 neon lime braid (recommended to me from a poster on here) and it seems to be great. It is smoother and more supple then the Power Pro that I'm used to. Is the neon lime more visible then the hi-vis yellow? I'm not sure, I'll have to look at them side by side, which I will hopefully be able to do this weekend. I definitely like the Sufix 832 over the Power Pro so far.
  22. You've had only 1 Senko for 10 years?
