  1. Like said earlier the KVD 1.5s are great for beginners but if you have a local academy I'd reccomend the H20 CRS I Like them just as much as the KVDs (practically the same lure) but they are half the price at 3$ If you want a good budget rod I'd reccomend the Berkeley cherry wood HD (25$) and any reel will work but I prefer a 6.4 for most of my cranking
  2. suffix 832 is smoother than original power pro because it is an 8 carrier, the super 8 slick power pro is a smooth as it gets! Lol
  3. That's a large mouth bream hahaha
  4. Nope, after I laid it out I checked it 4 hours later and had nothing. Let it sit over night and checked it again before I rode out to the lake and it was still empty. The bait hadn't been touched
  5. I was in BWW when that happened as well... I live in Georiga and let's just say most people weren't to happy lolol I don't care for college but that was a great game
  6. I made a post about a Bagley I lost and how I went diving for it... Never did get that darn thing back.
  7. You want to get a crank that goes at what ever depth the fish are! I normally only use square bills shallow with lures that dive 3-5 feet but I know some people use bigger ones like the one bomber makes that dives 10+I have a few and they work good but I don't normally fish lakes too deep. The H20 CRS and KVD 1.5 are my favorite squarebills, for colors I could go on and on and on but my 2 favorites right now are probably chartreuse black back and gizzard shad
  8. It all depends, some huge cranks you just can't throw on some whippy rods and the tiny cranks you can't throw on broomsticks. Then you have to consider that one company's Medium heavy might be the same as the next company's medium same goes with action. for smaller cranks like KVD 1.5s or bomber square A's i like a medium/moderate rod but don't be afraid to use a faster tip rod if you want. I use braid a lot so I have more confidence in rods with a little extra give to compensate for the Zero stretch. Really stretchy lines can let you get away with a faster tip. I don't get to throw deep cranks because the places I fish aren't deep enough but remember to stay inside your rods weight recommendations.
  9. 50lb braid with a XX lb leader is a pretty versatile starting point like others said
  10. I like working soft plastics like rage craws and zoom speed craws like buzzbaita, its all the benefits of a buzz bait and you can fish it through the thickest stuff!
  11. 1. Squarebill 2. Texas rig 3.hollowbody frog
  12. I forgot about spooks, I like to throw them during the summer. Idk it just seems like lures like the hula popper and jitterbug are just designed to be fool-proof lures... So anybody can grab a rod and reel and fish because they are so simple,I've never had a day where I can catch more on a hula popper than any other lure but some people swear by them.
  13. I just don't have much faith in topwaters, I use em but I don't have as much confidence as cranks or other searchbaits, I know some people who never start the day with any other lure except top waters. The only top waters I like are hollow body and soft plastic frogs and using craws as buzzbaits. I'm gonna go out early tommorow and try a hula popper but Idk if it'll work. I usually start the day with some kind of crank but back to the original question, do you guys prefer starting with a top water or something else? Or does it depend on weather for some of y'all.
  14. When I read the title I was like, oops I accidentally clicked on everything else haha
  15. Power pro S8S is the best braid. Period.
  16. What clarity of water are you fishing?
  17. http://www.***.com/Strike_King_10XD_Crankbait/descpage-SK10XD.html I believe these dive 25 feet on around 14lb FC
  18. I use cranks way more than jerkbaits, but I love using a jerkbait in the dead of winter
  19. I like to throw lipless cranks in millfoil but I havent thown lipless much this summer
  20. Great job, I hope you have success on all your next fishing trips!
  21. I don't see a whole lot of people using them but the eagle claw EWG are good, the thick wire ones with the cutting edge work good on big thick plastics
  22. There was a bream flopping around in my pond dieing so I grabbed him and cut him into 4 strips about 4 inches long because it was big ole bluegill and threw them in a crawfish trap and put it in a pond connected to swamp near our house. Do you guys think I'll catch any? I've never put out a crawfish trap because I've always went out in wades after storms and caught them with nets. I'm gonna go out there sometime after I fish tommorow and get the trap and see the results
  23. Reaction strikes can be unbelievable sometimes, It is amazing how accurate bass can be even when striking off pure instinct....
  24. I eat a lot more than 3lbs of fish a month. I have fish like every other day. 3lbs of bass Idk maybe, but I eat tuna salmon or bass almost every other day
