  1. Swim jigs...but I will throw a swim jig anytime anywhere.
  2. Which not are you using? It kind of sounds like you are not leaving enough of a tag end after tying your knot and the tag end is sliding back out of your knot and coming untied. I try to leave a 1/4 inch or a little more on my tag ends after tying the knot.
  3. I would choose fluorocarbon for DD crank baits. I would stay with 12lbs line and up to help get the crank bait down deep. I like Seaguar InvizX and Tatsu, but there are plenty other good fluorocarbon lines out there. Which ever line you choose just be sure and treat it with KVD L&L it will help a lot with line manageability.
  4. If you are wanting to stay around the price range of the Revo SX, then I would look at the Shimano Curaod E or I, Daiwa Tatula, Pinnacle Optimus LTE and I am sure there are some good Lews reels in that price range also, Basically there are a lot of choices in that price range.
  5. When a fish bites I mentally slow down and start reeling into the fish. Then I reel until I feel the pressure start. Sometimes the rod even begins to bend at the tip. As the pressure begins, then I start sweeping the rod back or what some calls “leaning into them.” This drastically improved my hook up ratio on spinner baits, swim jigs, etc...
  6. Then I wouldn't worry about...
  7. Were they shipped to you in a tube? Was the tube damaged any or did it show any signs of any damage?
  8. A well balanced rod and reel combo is way more important to me then a light weight reel.
  9. I never judge a reel by the display model. Always test one out of the box. You never know what has maybe happened to the display reel. If you are wanting a 6.3:1 reel then the regular Tatula will be fine. I have both and can't really tell a difference.
  10. Daiwa Samurai is my favorite braid, but is pricey and I can't find it in any local stores. I have also used Power Pro, Suffix and Seaguar... Right now I am really liking Seaguar Smack Down braid and it is really performing very well for me. I am using 30 and 40lbs test.
  11. I would also look at the *** *** Black rod...
  12. Have both, use both but I prefer a frog. I picked up some of the popper frogs to try.
  13. Oh boy....mama is going to be mad.......lol
  14. I would order Seaguar InvizX way before I would try Trilene 100% fluorocarbon again. That line when I tried it had horrible memory and just flat out didn't perform at all.
  15. That is a Gen1 Revo STX, magnetic brakes only. It is a true Abu Garcia reel and the that is a true classic Fenwick rod. A great classic rod and reel combo that still look to be in great condition.
  16. Gen 1 Cumara rods are amazing....I would love to find another 7' 2" MH/XF... and Shimanos warranty is amazing.
  17. It was the Independence store and it wasn't the first time they have given me bad advice....lol
  18. Thanks guys. I thought this seemed very odd.
  19. So while at Bass Pro today a person who worked there informed me that when spooling a Tatula not to fill the spool all the way like a normal reel and to only spool it about half way. He said it has to do with the way the line comes off of the spool. Is this correct or has he been misinformed? He said that he was told this by a Daiwa rep. I have my Tatula reels spooled about an 1/8 inch from the top currently. Thanks,
  20. I have used these baits quite a bit. I have met the owners of Tighlines and talked with them quite a bit as well as with Brent Chapman. I have had good luck with all of their baits. Especially their UV Beavers. Does the UV actually work? I don't know, but I do know I have caught a decent amount of fish on them and they have held up very well and have seemed to work where other baits didn't.
  21. Seaguar InvizX or Tatsu...
  22. Tatsu is amazing line but is expensive. I still prefer InvizX. I use it in 10, 12 and 15lbs test on bait casting reels and 6 and 8lbs on spinning reels.
  23. I carry a Glock 30SF, easy to conceal, accurate, reliable and plenty of stopping power.
  24. Really hard to beat Seaguar InvizX, but as roadwarrior stated Tatsu is AMAZING! I have tried the BPS fluorocarbon on spinning reels and just didn't care for it at all.
