new..... and wanting advice
Try casting a senko or t-rigged worm onto a pad at the edge of the bunch. Let it set there for a minute until all is very calm. Gently drag it off and let it fall off the edge of the lily pad. Watch for the strike on the fall. to the forums. Ronnie

using braid on a crankbait rod
Duoooh.. sorry I missed that in your first post. I think you will cause yourself a lot of trouble by using 10lb (2lb diameter) braid on your reel. I tried just going down to 30lb braid and had a bad time with line digging and backlash. DT-4s and -1s are very light cranks. The Yo Zuri 10# should be perfect on that reel. You aren't going to gain any distance with the tiny diameter line. Your rod sounds about as good as it gets for distance, 7', soft tip, moderate power should load better with light baits and throw them farther. You may want to consider spinning gear for the real light cranks, if you want more distance. JMHO Ronnie

Sheriff Joe At IT Again.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! McCarthyism. Don't be naive, McCarthy suspected everyone of communism. The ACLU has firm historical roots in Marxist communism. They make no apologies for it. FWIW- http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45959 Sherrif Joe is a hero, patriot and courageous servant of the public. It will be interesting to see how long he can get away with it. Ronnie

G-Blanks rods?
G-Loomis doesn't publish the weight of their rods, but I have my 6'10" Medium GLX on a digital scale weighing in at 3.6 oz. Rainshadow (Batson Enterprises) does publish the weight of their blanks. Their best 6' 6" Med RX8 C-783 blank weighs 2.17 oz without any hardware attached. If the finished G-blanks rod is a full ounce lighter than a comparable GLX, then the reel seat, grips, guides, thread and epoxy would have to weigh less than 1/2 oz. The lightest reel seat in my stock weighs 0.6oz by itself. If you add guides and cork the rod will be near double the weight of the blank. I think you have been misinformed. Ronnie

G-Blanks rods?
Can you point me to the published weights, or where you saw this? I too, would be curious about those #s. Ronnie

Cranking Rod
Lamiglas XCF705 7' Medium Heavy Cranking Rod. This is the factory rod that uses the blank my custom is built on. Super fiberglass cranking stick. I use it for spinnerbaits also. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCLAMIGLAS-LCPROFG.html# Ronnie

carry on my wayward sun....
I hope you realize that she is only actually playing part of the music. She is playing along with prerecorded and sequenced 'MIDI' tracks. She is very good though. Ronnie

Two Choices
I am not trying to ruin the magic here, but I would suggest re-reading the story and the commentary at the following link before you send it to everyone you know. It's a very touching story, but does it send the right message? http://www.snopes.com/glurge/chush.asp Ronnie

Best Catfishing Bait
I use shrimp. I put about a 1/2 pound out in the sun until you need a rubber gloves and a gas mask to handle them. Great catfish bait. Pick up an old collander or fine mesh basket a garage sale to keep the cats, etc. out of them until they are ripe. Ronnie

Left hand versus right had
WELCOME to the board! Do a search for "left hand" and you will have more reading than you can stand. LOL Here are a couple of the recent debates on this controversial issue. revo issues?
Cliff, If it were a Shima..., OOOHH, Sorry dude! You may need to be sure the brake thingy (I don't know what you call it) is the right one for the reel or worn out. If it is loose, it will apply itself by centrifugal force. I don't know about the pawl, but ABUs have a reputation for being sturdy reels. Don't give up just yet. Ronnie

chronarch 50 mg, stx or zillion
I fished a STX breifly that belonged to someone else, so I didn't really get to test it thoroughly. It's a nice reel, but I would like to fish it longer before making a recommendation. I have fished with the 50Mg hundreds of hours in all conditions. I have 4 of them and will probably get more. I love them and heartily recommend it. I have no experience with the zillion. Ronnie

Shimano Core Review.....
Thanks for the review. I have been sorely tempted to buy a Core, but like fletchero, for me, it would have to be exceptionally sweet to out perform a 50Mg. Work is slow and funds are tight, so I will have to be patient. RW can reinforce your enthusiasm when he gets one and I will probably have to give it a try. Ronnie

Oldie's But Goodies ???
T-Bone, If you buy culprit worms today they are exactly like they were in the 80's. Only difference is, today you can get more colors and they will be salted, which just makes them better. They are my #1 bait since the 80s. Ronnie

So what's the deal with Yo-Zuri Hybrid?
Ultra soft when treated with KVD L&L is almost as limp as braid. Excellent line, and I have used most all of them. I still use Power Pro braid for heavy line/cover applications, but Ultra Soft works for everything else. JMHO Ronnie
