  1. Nice fish, they are always fun to get into.
  2. I'd have to say that the worst miss(es) that I can think of are the ones I missed in tournaments this season. Its hard to say but they may have put us (SPPEDBEAD) in the money. Good thind SPEEDBEAD has a strong back!
  3. I think that like most other things, the more word of mouth from people getting others interested combined with media exposure and it can take off. Of course, there will be the arguments of "is it a sport or hobby" and some thougths that it is a "redneck" pastime will need to be overcome. I think the latter will take time, but is also achievable through word of mouth and the positive exposure from sources such as this site. For me, dad took my bluegill fishing as a young lad and as I got older, we didn't go much anymore for a number of reasons. I got into when I moved to PA as a result of hunting and fishing being what everyone here did. I figured I'd give it a shot and liked the challenge. So much so, that this was a busy year for fishing and I was not at all prepared for bow season due to getting into the tournament game. As soon as bow season ended, it was back to thinking about fishing.
  4. Sounds like a nice day to me
  5. Good deal, I think you'll like it. I think I am gonna change my set ups around to take better advantage of it. I'm gonna try and set up a "tackle station" in the back room in the basement this winter.
  6. That's pretty cool. Hope they are jumping for you that day!
  7. The Accurist you were using, is it the same one I have? Smooth....
  8. The picks are always a nice change
  9. What, no props on the guy that introduced the ole shakey to ya?
  10. Be safe. I appreciate your service to and for the Country.
  11. I definately pitch with my spinning gear. I found that as soon as I release the lure, I let the line run thru my hand for better control since you can't thumb like you do a baitcaster. As for accuracy, practice practice practice. Practice from different angles and with different weights. If you fish from a boat, perhaps attempt to simulate the height (ie standing in the boat) to the ground (water). I found that standing on flat ground and practicing was rather different that being in the boat.
  12. Stuck with small pond with the occasional visit to a small "lake."
  13. Good tips already. I also found that as i was learning/practicing, it was helpful to use a heaveir weight. That allowed me to get the mechanics down a bit easier. I think it really helped to establish muscle memory.
  14. I am often stuck on the shoreline and have found that I can usually cast out of some gnarely area by using spinning tackle as opposed to the baitcaster. Most of the time I am fishing plastics, so that makes it easier to cast from odd angels. Sometimes you just have to find areas to punch through and get right on the edge of the water. That's where waterproof boots help! Not sure how thick the stuff is that you have to get through to get to the water, but a little bushwhacking just might increase your catch rates since you are probably one of a small few willing to fight the thick stuff to get into the fish.
  15. like paris hilton says, that's hot!
  16. If the water was gin clear I can't help but wonder if the fish saw you long before you saw the fish. Now that you know the area is there, maybe try moving in very slowly and stay as far back as you can accurately cast with little splash.
